II Peter 1

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

یہ خط عیسیٰ مسیح کے خادم اور رسول شمعون پطرس کی طرف سے ہے۔ مَیں اُن سب کو لکھ رہا ہوں جنہیں ہمارے خدا اور نجات دہندہ عیسیٰ مسیح کی راست بازی کے وسیلے سے وہی بیش قیمت ایمان بخشا گیا ہے جو ہمیں بھی ملا۔

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

خدا کرے کہ آپ اُسے اور ہمارے خداوند عیسیٰ کو جاننے میں ترقی کرتے کرتے کثرت سے فضل اور سلامتی پاتے جائیں۔

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

اللہ نے اپنی الٰہی قدرت سے ہمیں وہ سب کچھ عطا کیا ہے جو خدا ترس زندگی گزارنے کے لئے ضروری ہے۔ اور ہمیں یہ اُسے جان لینے سے حاصل ہوا ہے۔ کیونکہ اُس نے ہمیں اپنے ذاتی جلال اور قدرت کے ذریعے بُلایا ہے۔

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

اِس جلال اور قدرت سے اُس نے ہمیں وہ عظیم اور بیش قیمت چیزیں دی ہیں جن کا وعدہ اُس نے کیا تھا۔ کیونکہ وہ چاہتا تھا کہ آپ اِن سے دنیا کی بُری خواہشات سے پیدا ہونے والے فساد سے بچ کر اُس کی الٰہی ذات میں شریک ہو جائیں۔

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

یہ سب کچھ پیشِ نظر رکھ کر پوری لگن سے کوشش کریں کہ آپ کے ایمان سے اخلاق پیدا ہو جائے، اخلاق سے علم،

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

علم سے ضبطِ نفس، ضبطِ نفس سے ثابت قدمی، ثابت قدمی سے خدا ترس زندگی،

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

خدا ترس زندگی سے برادرانہ شفقت اور برادرانہ شفقت سے سب کے لئے محبت۔

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

کیونکہ جتنا ہی آپ اِن خوبیوں میں بڑھتے جائیں گے اُتنا ہی یہ آپ کو اِس سے محفوظ رکھیں گی کہ آپ ہمارے خداوند عیسیٰ مسیح کو جاننے میں سُست اور بےپھل رہیں۔

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

لیکن جس میں یہ خوبیاں نہیں ہیں اُس کی نظر اِتنی کمزور ہے کہ وہ اندھا ہے۔ وہ بھول گیا ہے کہ اُسے اُس کے گزرے گناہوں سے پاک صاف کیا گیا ہے۔

Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

چنانچہ بھائیو، مزید لگن سے اپنے بُلاوے اور چناؤ کی تصدیق کرنے میں کوشاں رہیں۔ کیونکہ یہ کرنے سے آپ گر جانے سے بچیں گے

For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

اور اللہ بڑی خوشی سے آپ کو ہمارے خداوند اور نجات دہندہ عیسیٰ مسیح کی بادشاہی میں داخل ہونے کی اجازت دے گا۔

Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

اِس لئے مَیں ہمیشہ آپ کو اِن باتوں کی یاد دلاتا رہوں گا، حالانکہ آپ اِن سے واقف ہیں اور مضبوطی سے اُس سچائی پر قائم ہیں جو آپ کو ملی ہے۔

Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

بلکہ مَیں اپنا فرض سمجھتا ہوں کہ جتنی اَور دیر مَیں جسم کی اِس جھونپڑی میں رہتا ہوں آپ کو اِن باتوں کی یاد دلانے سے اُبھارتا رہوں۔

Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

کیونکہ مجھے معلوم ہے کہ اب میری یہ جھونپڑی جلد ہی ڈھا دی جائے گی۔ ہمارے خداوند عیسیٰ مسیح نے بھی مجھ پر یہ ظاہر کیا تھا۔

Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

لیکن مَیں پوری کوشش کروں گا کہ میرے کوچ کر جانے کے بعد بھی آپ ہر وقت اِن باتوں کو یاد رکھ سکیں۔

For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

کیونکہ جب ہم نے آپ کو اپنے اور آپ کے خداوند مسیح کی قدرت اور آمد کے بارے میں بتایا تو ہم چالاکی سے گھڑے قصے کہانیوں پر انحصار نہیں کر رہے تھے بلکہ ہم نے یہ گواہوں کی حیثیت سے بتایا۔ کیونکہ ہم نے اپنی ہی آنکھوں سے اُس کی عظمت دیکھی تھی۔

For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

ہم موجود تھے جب اُسے خدا باپ سے عزت و جلال ملا، جب ایک آواز نے اللہ کی پُرجلال شان سے آ کر کہا، ”یہ میرا پیارا فرزند ہے جس سے مَیں خوش ہوں۔“

And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

جب ہم اُس کے ساتھ مُقدّس پہاڑ پر تھے تو ہم نے خود یہ آواز آسمان سے آتی سنی۔

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

اِس تجربے کی بنا پر ہمارا نبیوں کے پیغام پر اعتماد زیادہ مضبوط ہے۔ آپ اچھا کریں گے اگر اِس پر خوب دھیان دیں۔ کیونکہ یہ کسی تاریک جگہ میں روشنی کی مانند ہے جو اُس وقت تک چمکتی رہے گی جب تک پَو پھٹ کر صبح کا ستارہ آپ کے دلوں میں طلوع نہ ہو جائے۔

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

سب سے بڑھ کر آپ کو یہ سمجھنے کی ضرورت ہے کہ کلامِ مُقدّس کی کوئی بھی پیش گوئی نبی کی اپنی ہی تفسیر سے پیدا نہیں ہوتی۔

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

کیونکہ کوئی بھی پیش گوئی کبھی بھی انسان کی تحریک سے وجود میں نہیں آئی بلکہ پیش گوئی کرتے وقت انسانوں نے روح القدس سے تحریک پا کر اللہ کی طرف سے بات کی۔
