I Samuel 23

Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.

ایک دن داؤد کو خبر ملی کہ فلستی قعیلہ شہر پر حملہ کر کے گاہنے کی جگہوں سے اناج لُوٹ رہے ہیں۔

Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.

داؤد نے رب سے دریافت کیا، ”کیا مَیں جا کر فلستیوں پر حملہ کروں؟“ رب نے جواب دیا، ”جا، فلستیوں پر حملہ کر کے قعیلہ کو بچا۔“

And David's men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

لیکن داؤد کے آدمی اعتراض کرنے لگے، ”ہم پہلے سے یہاں یہوداہ میں لوگوں کی مخالفت سے ڈرتے ہیں۔ جب ہم قعیلہ جا کر فلستیوں پر حملہ کریں گے تو پھر ہمارا کیا بنے گا؟“

Then David enquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

تب داؤد نے رب سے دوبارہ ہدایت مانگی، اور دوبارہ اُسے یہی جواب ملا، ”قعیلہ کو جا! مَیں فلستیوں کو تیرے حوالے کر دوں گا۔“

So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

چنانچہ داؤد اپنے آدمیوں کے ساتھ قعیلہ چلا گیا۔ اُس نے فلستیوں پر حملہ کر کے اُنہیں بڑی شکست دی اور اُن کی بھیڑبکریوں کو چھین کر قعیلہ کے باشندوں کو بچایا۔

And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

وہاں قعیلہ میں ابیاتر داؤد کے لوگوں میں شامل ہوا۔ اُس کے پاس امام کا بالاپوش تھا۔

And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.

جب ساؤل کو خبر ملی کہ داؤد قعیلہ شہر میں ٹھہرا ہوا ہے تو اُس نے سوچا، ”اللہ نے اُسے میرے حوالے کر دیا ہے، کیونکہ اب وہ فصیل دار شہر میں جا کر پھنس گیا ہے۔“

And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

وہ اپنی پوری فوج کو جمع کر کے جنگ کے لئے تیاریاں کرنے لگا تاکہ اُتر کر قعیلہ کا محاصرہ کرے جس میں داؤد اب تک ٹھہرا ہوا تھا۔

And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

لیکن داؤد کو پتا چلا کہ ساؤل اُس کے خلاف تیاریاں کر رہا ہے۔ اُس نے ابیاتر امام سے کہا، ”امام کا بالاپوش لے آئیں تاکہ ہم رب سے ہدایت مانگیں۔“

Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.

پھر اُس نے دعا کی، ”اے رب اسرائیل کے خدا، مجھے خبر ملی ہے کہ ساؤل میری وجہ سے قعیلہ پر حملہ کر کے اُسے برباد کرنا چاہتا ہے۔

Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down.

کیا شہر کے باشندے مجھے ساؤل کے حوالے کر دیں گے؟ کیا ساؤل واقعی آئے گا؟ اے رب، اسرائیل کے خدا، اپنے خادم کو بتا!“ رب نے جواب دیا، ”ہاں، وہ آئے گا۔“

Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up.

پھر داؤد نے مزید دریافت کیا، ”کیا شہر کے بزرگ مجھے اور میرے لوگوں کو ساؤل کے حوالے کر دیں گے؟“ رب نے کہا، ”ہاں، وہ کر دیں گے۔“

Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.

لہٰذا داؤد اپنے تقریباً 600 آدمیوں کے ساتھ قعیلہ سے چلا گیا اور اِدھر اُدھر پھرنے لگا۔ جب ساؤل کو اطلاع ملی کہ داؤد قعیلہ سے نکل کر بچ گیا ہے تو وہاں جانے سے باز آیا۔

And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.

اب داؤد بیابان کے پہاڑی قلعوں اور دشتِ زیف کے پہاڑی علاقے میں رہنے لگا۔ ساؤل تو مسلسل اُس کا کھوج لگاتا رہا، لیکن اللہ ہمیشہ داؤد کو ساؤل کے ہاتھ سے بچاتا رہا۔

And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.

ایک دن جب داؤد حورِش کے قریب تھا تو اُسے اطلاع ملی کہ ساؤل آپ کو ہلاک کرنے کے لئے نکلا ہے۔

And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.

اُس وقت یونتن نے داؤد کے پاس آ کر اُس کی حوصلہ افزائی کی کہ وہ اللہ پر بھروسا رکھے۔

And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.

اُس نے کہا، ”ڈریں مت۔ میرے باپ کا ہاتھ آپ تک نہیں پہنچے گا۔ ایک دن آپ ضرور اسرائیل کے بادشاہ بن جائیں گے، اور میرا رُتبہ آپ کے بعد ہی آئے گا۔ میرا باپ بھی اِس حقیقت سے خوب واقف ہے۔“

And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.

دونوں نے رب کے حضور عہد باندھا۔ پھر یونتن اپنے گھر چلا گیا جبکہ داؤد وہاں حورِش میں ٹھہرا رہا۔

Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

دشتِ زیف میں آباد کچھ لوگ ساؤل کے پاس آ گئے جو اُس وقت جِبعہ میں تھا۔ اُنہوں نے کہا، ”ہم جانتے ہیں کہ داؤد کہاں چھپ گیا ہے۔ وہ حورِش کے پہاڑی قلعوں میں ہے، اُس پہاڑی پر جس کا نام حکیلہ ہے اور جو یشیمون کے جنوب میں ہے۔

Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hand.

اے بادشاہ، جب بھی آپ کا دل چاہے آئیں تو ہم اُسے پکڑ کر آپ کے حوالے کر دیں گے۔“

And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me.

ساؤل نے جواب دیا، ”رب آپ کو برکت بخشے کہ آپ کو مجھ پر ترس آیا ہے۔

Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly.

اب واپس جا کر مزید تیاریاں کریں۔ پتا کریں کہ وہ کہاں آتا جاتا ہے اور کس نے اُسے وہاں دیکھا ہے۔ کیونکہ مجھے بتایا گیا ہے کہ وہ بہت چالاک ہے۔

See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.

ہر جگہ کا کھوج لگائیں جہاں وہ چھپ جاتا ہے۔ جب آپ کو ساری تفصیلات معلوم ہوں تو میرے پاس آئیں۔ پھر مَیں آپ کے ساتھ وہاں پہنچوں گا۔ اگر وہ واقعی وہاں کہیں ہو تو مَیں اُسے ضرور ڈھونڈ نکالوں گا، خواہ مجھے پورے یہوداہ کی چھان بین کیوں نہ کرنی پڑے۔“

And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.

زیف کے آدمی واپس چلے گئے۔ تھوڑی دیر کے بعد ساؤل بھی اپنی فوج سمیت وہاں کے لئے نکلا۔ اُس وقت داؤد اور اُس کے لوگ دشتِ معون میں یشیمون کے جنوب میں تھے۔ جب داؤد کو اطلاع ملی کہ ساؤل اُس کا تعاقب کر رہا ہے تو وہ ریگستان کے مزید جنوب میں چلا گیا، وہاں جہاں بڑی چٹان نظر آتی ہے۔ لیکن ساؤل کو پتا چلا اور وہ فوراً ریگستان میں داؤد کے پیچھے گیا۔

Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.

زیف کے آدمی واپس چلے گئے۔ تھوڑی دیر کے بعد ساؤل بھی اپنی فوج سمیت وہاں کے لئے نکلا۔ اُس وقت داؤد اور اُس کے لوگ دشتِ معون میں یشیمون کے جنوب میں تھے۔ جب داؤد کو اطلاع ملی کہ ساؤل اُس کا تعاقب کر رہا ہے تو وہ ریگستان کے مزید جنوب میں چلا گیا، وہاں جہاں بڑی چٹان نظر آتی ہے۔ لیکن ساؤل کو پتا چلا اور وہ فوراً ریگستان میں داؤد کے پیچھے گیا۔

And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.

چلتے چلتے ساؤل داؤد کے قریب ہی پہنچ گیا۔ آخرکار صرف ایک پہاڑی اُن کے درمیان رہ گئی۔ ساؤل پہاڑی کے ایک دامن میں تھا جبکہ داؤد اپنے لوگوں سمیت دوسرے دامن میں بھاگتا ہوا بادشاہ سے بچنے کی کوشش کر رہا تھا۔ ساؤل ابھی اُنہیں گھیر کر پکڑنے کو تھا

But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.

کہ اچانک قاصد ساؤل کے پاس پہنچا جس نے کہا، ”جلدی آئیں! فلستی ہمارے ملک میں گھس آئے ہیں۔“

Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Sela–hammahlekoth.

ساؤل کو داؤد کو چھوڑنا پڑا، اور وہ فلستیوں سے لڑنے گیا۔ اُس وقت سے پہاڑی کا نام ”علیٰحدگی کی چٹان“ پڑ گیا۔

And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at En–gedi.

داؤد وہاں سے چلا گیا اور عین جدی کے پہاڑی قلعوں میں رہنے لگا۔
