I Samuel 22

David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him.

اِس طرح داؤد جات سے بچ نکلا اور عدُلام کے غار میں چھپ گیا۔ جب اُس کے بھائیوں اور باپ کے گھرانے کو اِس کی خبر ملی تو وہ بیت لحم سے آ کر وہاں اُس کے ساتھ جا ملے۔

And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

اَور لوگ بھی جلدی سے اُس کے گرد جمع ہو گئے، ایسے جو کسی مصیبت میں پھنسے ہوئے تھے یا اپنا قرض ادا نہیں کر سکتے تھے اور ایسے بھی جن کا دل تلخی سے بھرا ہوا تھا۔ ہوتے ہوتے داؤد تقریباً 400 افراد کا راہنما بن گیا۔

And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

داؤد عدُلام سے روانہ ہو کر ملکِ موآب کے شہر مِصفاہ چلا گیا۔ اُس نے موآبی بادشاہ سے گزارش کی، ”میرے ماں باپ کو اُس وقت تک یہاں پناہ دیں جب تک مجھے پتا نہ ہو کہ اللہ میرے لئے کیا ارادہ رکھتا ہے۔“

And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.

وہ اپنے ماں باپ کو بادشاہ کے پاس لے آیا، اور وہ اُتنی دیر تک وہاں ٹھہرے جتنی دیر داؤد اپنے پہاڑی قلعے میں رہا۔

And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.

ایک دن جاد نبی نے داؤد سے کہا، ”یہاں پہاڑی قلعے میں مت رہیں بلکہ دوبارہ یہوداہ کے علاقے میں واپس چلے جائیں۔“ داؤد اُس کی سن کر حارت کے جنگل میں جا بسا۔

When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;)

ساؤل کو اطلاع دی گئی کہ داؤد اور اُس کے آدمی دوبارہ یہوداہ میں پہنچ گئے ہیں۔ اُس وقت ساؤل اپنا نیزہ پکڑے جھاؤ کے اُس درخت کے سائے میں بیٹھا تھا جو جِبعہ کی پہاڑی پر تھا۔ ساؤل کے ارد گرد اُس کے ملازم کھڑے تھے۔

Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;

وہ پکار اُٹھا، ”بن یمین کے مردو! سنیں، کیا یسّی کا بیٹا آپ سب کو کھیت اور انگور کے باغ دے گا؟ کیا وہ فوج میں آپ کو ہزار ہزار اور سَو سَو افراد پر مقرر کرے گا؟

That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

لگتا ہے کہ آپ اِس کی اُمید رکھتے ہیں، ورنہ آپ یوں میرے خلاف سازش نہ کرتے۔ کیونکہ آپ میں سے کسی نے بھی مجھے یہ نہیں بتایا کہ میرے اپنے بیٹے نے اِس آدمی کے ساتھ عہد باندھا ہے۔ آپ کو میری فکر تک نہیں، ورنہ مجھے اطلاع دیتے کہ یونتن نے میرے ملازم داؤد کو اُبھارا ہے کہ وہ میری تاک میں بیٹھ جائے۔ کیونکہ آج تو ایسا ہی ہو رہا ہے۔“

Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

دوئیگ ادومی ساؤل کے افسروں کے ساتھ وہاں کھڑا تھا۔ اب وہ بول اُٹھا، ”مَیں نے یسّی کے بیٹے کو دیکھا ہے۔ اُس وقت وہ نوب میں اخی مَلِک بن اخی طوب سے ملنے آیا۔

And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

اخی مَلِک نے رب سے دریافت کیا کہ داؤد کا اگلا قدم کیا ہو۔ ساتھ ساتھ اُس نے اُسے سفر کے لئے کھانا اور فلستی مرد جالوت کی تلوار بھی دی۔“

Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.

بادشاہ نے فوراً اخی مَلِک بن اخی طوب اور اُس کے باپ کے پورے خاندان کو بُلایا۔ سب نوب میں امام تھے۔

And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.

جب پہنچے تو ساؤل بولا، ”اخی طوب کے بیٹے، سنیں۔“ اخی مَلِک نے جواب دیا، ”جی میرے آقا، حکم۔“

And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

ساؤل نے الزام لگا کر کہا، ”آپ نے یسّی کے بیٹے داؤد کے ساتھ میرے خلاف سازشیں کیوں کی ہیں؟ بتائیں، آپ نے اُسے روٹی اور تلوار کیوں دی؟ آپ نے اللہ سے دریافت کیوں کیا کہ داؤد آگے کیا کرے؟ آپ ہی کی مدد سے وہ سرکش ہو کر میری تاک میں بیٹھ گیا ہے، کیونکہ آج تو ایسا ہی ہو رہا ہے۔“

Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king's son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?

اخی مَلِک بولا، ”لیکن میرے آقا، کیا ملازموں میں سے کوئی اَور آپ کے داماد داؤد جیسا وفادار ثابت ہوا ہے؟ وہ تو آپ کے محافظ دستے کا کپتان اور آپ کے گھرانے کا معزز ممبر ہے۔

Did I then begin to enquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.

اور یہ پہلی بار نہیں تھا کہ مَیں نے اُس کے لئے اللہ سے ہدایت مانگی۔ اِس معاملے میں بادشاہ مجھ اور میرے خاندان پر الزام نہ لگائے۔ مَیں نے تو کسی سازش کا ذکر تک نہیں سنا۔“

And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father's house.

لیکن بادشاہ بولا، ”اخی مَلِک، تجھے اور تیرے باپ کے پورے خاندان کو مرنا ہے۔“

And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.

اُس نے ساتھ کھڑے اپنے محافظوں کو حکم دیا، ”جا کر اماموں کو مار دو، کیونکہ یہ بھی داؤد کے اتحادی ہیں۔ گو اِن کو معلوم تھا کہ داؤد مجھ سے بھاگ رہا ہے توبھی اِنہوں نے مجھے اطلاع نہ دی۔“ لیکن محافظوں نے رب کے اماموں کو مار ڈالنے سے انکار کیا۔

And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

تب بادشاہ نے دوئیگ ادومی کو حکم دیا، ”پھر تم ہی اماموں کو مار دو۔“ دوئیگ نے اُن کے پاس جا کر اُن سب کو قتل کر دیا۔ کتان کا بالاپوش پہننے والے کُل 85 آدمی اُس دن مارے گئے۔

And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

پھر اُس نے جا کر اماموں کے شہر نوب کے تمام باشندوں کو مار ڈالا۔ شہر کے مرد، عورتیں، بچے شیرخواروں سمیت، گائےبَیل، گدھے اور بھیڑبکریاں سب اُس دن ہلاک ہوئے۔

And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.

صرف ایک ہی شخص بچ گیا، ابیاتر جو اخی مَلِک بن اخی طوب کا بیٹا تھا۔ وہ بھاگ کر داؤد کے پاس آیا

And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the LORD'S priests.

اور اُسے اطلاع دی کہ ساؤل نے رب کے اماموں کو قتل کر دیا ہے۔

And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father's house.

داؤد نے کہا، ”اُس دن جب مَیں نے دوئیگ ادومی کو وہاں دیکھا تو مجھے معلوم تھا کہ وہ ضرور ساؤل کو خبر پہنچائے گا۔ یہ میرا ہی قصور ہے کہ آپ کے باپ کا پورا خاندان ہلاک ہو گیا ہے۔

Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

اب میرے ساتھ رہیں اور مت ڈریں۔ جو آدمی آپ کو قتل کرنا چاہتا ہے وہ مجھے بھی قتل کرنا چاہتا ہے۔ آپ میرے ساتھ رہ کر محفوظ رہیں گے۔“
