I Peter 1

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

یہ خط عیسیٰ مسیح کے رسول پطرس کی طرف سے ہے۔ مَیں اللہ کے چنے ہوؤں کو لکھ رہا ہوں، دنیا کے اُن مہمانوں کو جو پنطس، گلتیہ، کپدکیہ، آسیہ اور بِتُھنیہ کے صوبوں میں بکھرے ہوئے ہیں۔

Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

خدا باپ نے آپ کو بہت دیر پہلے جان کر چن لیا اور اُس کے روح نے آپ کو مخصوص و مُقدّس کر دیا۔ نتیجے میں آپ عیسیٰ مسیح کے تابع اور اُس کے چھڑکائے گئے خون سے پاک صاف ہو گئے ہیں۔ اللہ آپ کو بھرپور فضل اور سلامتی بخشے۔

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

خدا ہمارے خداوند عیسیٰ مسیح کے باپ کی تعریف ہو! اپنے عظیم رحم سے اُس نے عیسیٰ مسیح کو زندہ کرنے کے وسیلے سے ہمیں نئے سرے سے پیدا کیا ہے۔ اِس سے ہمیں ایک زندہ اُمید ملی ہے،

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

ایک ایسی میراث جو کبھی نہیں سڑے گی، کبھی نہیں ناپاک ہو جائے گی اور کبھی نہیں مُرجھائے گی۔ کیونکہ یہ آسمان پر آپ کے لئے محفوظ رکھی گئی ہے۔

Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

اور اللہ آپ کے ایمان کے ذریعے اپنی قدرت سے آپ کی اُس وقت تک حفاظت کرتا رہے گا جب تک آپ کو نجات نہ مل جائے، وہ نجات جو آخرت کے دن سب پر ظاہر ہونے کے لئے تیار ہے۔

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

اُس وقت آپ خوشی منائیں گے، گو فی الحال آپ کو تھوڑی دیر کے لئے طرح طرح کی آزمائشوں کا سامنا کر کے غم کھانا پڑتا ہے

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

تاکہ آپ کا ایمان اصلی ثابت ہو جائے۔ کیونکہ جس طرح آگ سونے کو آزما کر خالص بنا دیتی ہے اُسی طرح آپ کا ایمان بھی آزمایا جا رہا ہے، حالانکہ یہ فانی سونے سے کہیں زیادہ قیمتی ہے۔ کیونکہ اللہ چاہتا ہے کہ آپ کو اُس دن تعریف، جلال اور عزت مل جائے جب عیسیٰ مسیح ظاہر ہو گا۔

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

اُسی کو آپ پیار کرتے ہیں اگرچہ آپ نے اُسے دیکھا نہیں، اور اُسی پر آپ ایمان رکھتے ہیں گو وہ آپ کو اِس وقت نظر نہیں آتا۔ ہاں، آپ دل میں ناقابلِ بیان اور جلالی خوشی منائیں گے،

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

جب آپ وہ کچھ پائیں گے جو ایمان کی منزلِ مقصود ہے یعنی اپنی جانوں کی نجات۔

Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

نبی اِسی نجات کی تلاش اور تفتیش میں لگے رہے، اور اُنہوں نے اُس فضل کی پیش گوئی کی جو اللہ آپ کو دینے والا تھا۔

Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

اُنہوں نے معلوم کرنے کی کوشش کی کہ مسیح کا روح جو اُن میں تھا کس وقت یا کن حالات کے بارے میں بات کر رہا تھا جب اُس نے مسیح کے دُکھ اور بعد کے جلال کی پیش گوئی کی۔

Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

اُن پر اِتنا ظاہر کیا گیا کہ اُن کی یہ پیش گوئیاں اُن کے اپنے لئے نہیں تھیں، بلکہ آپ کے لئے۔ اور اب یہ سب کچھ آپ کو اُن ہی کے وسیلے سے پیش کیا گیا ہے جنہوں نے آسمان سے بھیجے گئے روح القدس کے ذریعے آپ کو اللہ کی خوش خبری سنائی ہے۔ یہ ایسی باتیں ہیں جن پر فرشتے بھی نظر ڈالنے کے آرزومند ہیں۔

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

چنانچہ ذہنی طور پر کمربستہ ہو جائیں۔ ہوش مندی سے اپنی پوری اُمید اُس فضل پر رکھیں جو آپ کو عیسیٰ مسیح کے ظہور پر بخشا جائے گا۔

As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

آپ اللہ کے تابع فرمان فرزند ہیں، اِس لئے اُن بُری خواہشات کو اپنی زندگی میں جگہ نہ دیں جو آپ جاہل ہوتے وقت رکھتے تھے۔ ورنہ وہ آپ کی زندگی کو اپنے سانچے میں ڈھال لیں گی۔

But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

اِس کے بجائے اللہ کی مانند بنیں جس نے آپ کو بُلایا ہے۔ جس طرح وہ قدوس ہے اُسی طرح آپ بھی ہر وقت مُقدّس زندگی گزاریں۔

Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

کیونکہ کلامِ مُقدّس میں لکھا ہے، ”اپنے آپ کو مخصوص و مُقدّس رکھو کیونکہ مَیں مُقدّس ہوں۔“

And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

اور یاد رکھیں کہ آسمانی باپ جس سے آپ دعا کرتے ہیں جانب داری نہیں کرتا بلکہ آپ کے عمل کے مطابق آپ کا فیصلہ کرے گا۔ چنانچہ جب تک آپ اِس دنیا کے مہمان رہیں گے خدا کے خوف میں زندگی گزاریں۔

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

کیونکہ آپ خود جانتے ہیں کہ آپ کو باپ دادا کی بےمعنی زندگی سے چھڑانے کے لئے کیا فدیہ دیا گیا۔ یہ سونے یا چاندی جیسی فانی چیز نہیں تھی

But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

بلکہ مسیح کا قیمتی خون تھا۔ اُسی کو بےنقص اور بےداغ لیلے کی حیثیت سے ہمارے لئے قربان کیا گیا۔

Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

اُسے دنیا کی تخلیق سے پیشتر چنا گیا، لیکن اِن آخری دنوں میں آپ کی خاطر ظاہر کیا گیا۔

Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

اور اُس کے وسیلے سے آپ اللہ پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں جس نے اُسے مُردوں میں سے زندہ کر کے عزت و جلال دیا تاکہ آپ کا ایمان اور اُمید اللہ پر ہو۔

Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

سچائی کے تابع ہو جانے سے آپ کو مخصوص و مُقدّس کر دیا گیا اور آپ کے دلوں میں بھائیوں کے لئے بےریا محبت ڈالی گئی ہے۔ چنانچہ اب ایک دوسرے کو خلوص دلی اور لگن سے پیار کرتے رہیں۔

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

کیونکہ آپ کی نئے سرے سے پیدائش ہوئی ہے۔ اور یہ کسی فانی بیج کا پھل نہیں ہے بلکہ اللہ کے لافانی، زندہ اور قائم رہنے والے کلام کا پھل ہے۔

For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

یوں کلامِ مُقدّس فرماتا ہے، ”تمام انسان گھاس ہی ہیں، اُن کی تمام شان و شوکت جنگلی پھول کی مانند ہے۔ گھاس تو مُرجھا جاتی اور پھول گر جاتا ہے،

But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

لیکن رب کا کلام ابد تک قائم رہتا ہے۔“ مذکورہ کلام اللہ کی خوش خبری ہے جو آپ کو سنائی گئی ہے۔
