I Kings 11

But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;

لیکن سلیمان بہت سی غیرملکی خواتین سے محبت کرتا تھا۔ فرعون کی بیٹی کے علاوہ اُس کی شادی موآبی، عمونی، ادومی، صیدانی اور حِتّی عورتوں سے ہوئی۔

Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

اِن قوموں کے بارے میں رب نے اسرائیلیوں کو حکم دیا تھا، ”نہ تم اِن کے گھروں میں جاؤ اور نہ یہ تمہارے گھروں میں آئیں، ورنہ یہ تمہارے دل اپنے دیوتاؤں کی طرف مائل کر دیں گے۔“ توبھی سلیمان بڑے پیار سے اپنی اِن بیویوں سے لپٹا رہا۔

And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

اُس کی شاہی خاندانوں سے تعلق رکھنے والی 700 بیویاں اور 300 داشتائیں تھیں۔ اِن عورتوں نے آخرکار اُس کا دل رب سے دُور کر دیا۔

For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

جب وہ بوڑھا ہو گیا تو اُنہوں نے اُس کا دل دیگر معبودوں کی طرف مائل کر دیا۔ یوں وہ بُڑھاپے میں اپنے باپ داؤد کی طرح پورے دل سے رب کا وفادار نہ رہا

For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

بلکہ صیدانیوں کی دیوی عستارات اور عمونیوں کے دیوتا ملکوم کی پوجا کرنے لگا۔

And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

غرض اُس نے ایسا کام کیا جو رب کو ناپسند تھا۔ وہ وفاداری نہ رہی جس سے اُس کے باپ داؤد نے رب کی خدمت کی تھی۔

Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

یروشلم کے مشرق میں سلیمان نے ایک پہاڑی پر دو مندر بنائے، ایک موآب کے گھنونے دیوتا کموس کے لئے اور ایک عمون کے گھنونے دیوتا مَلِک یعنی ملکوم کے لئے۔

And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

ایسے مندر اُس نے اپنی تمام غیرملکی بیویوں کے لئے تعمیر کئے تاکہ وہ اپنے دیوتاؤں کو بخور اور ذبح کی قربانیاں پیش کر سکیں۔

And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,

رب کو سلیمان پر بڑا غصہ آیا، کیونکہ وہ اسرائیل کے خدا سے دُور ہو گیا تھا، حالانکہ رب اُس پر دو بار ظاہر ہوا تھا۔

And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

گو اُس نے اُسے دیگر معبودوں کی پوجا کرنے سے صاف منع کیا تھا توبھی سلیمان نے اُس کا حکم نہ مانا۔

Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

اِس لئے رب نے اُس سے کہا، ”چونکہ تُو میرے عہد اور احکام کے مطابق زندگی نہیں گزارتا، اِس لئے مَیں بادشاہی کو تجھ سے چھین کر تیرے کسی افسر کو دوں گا۔ یہ بات یقینی ہے۔

Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

لیکن تیرے باپ داؤد کی خاطر مَیں یہ تیرے جیتے جی نہیں کروں گا بلکہ بادشاہی کو تیرے بیٹے ہی سے چھینوں گا۔

Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.

اور مَیں پوری مملکت اُس کے ہاتھ سے نہیں لوں گا بلکہ اپنے خادم داؤد اور اپنے چنے ہوئے شہر یروشلم کی خاطر اُس کے لئے ایک قبیلہ چھوڑ دوں گا۔“

And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.

پھر رب نے ادوم کے شاہی خاندان میں سے ایک آدمی بنام ہدد کو برپا کیا جو سلیمان کا سخت مخالف بن گیا۔

For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;

وہ یوں سلیمان کا دشمن بن گیا کہ چند سال پہلے جب داؤد نے ادوم کو شکست دی تو اُس کا فوجی کمانڈر یوآب میدانِ جنگ میں پڑی تمام اسرائیلی لاشوں کو دفنانے کے لئے ادوم آیا۔ جہاں بھی گیا وہاں اُس نے ہر ادومی مرد کو مار ڈالا۔

(For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)

وہ چھ ماہ تک اپنے فوجیوں کے ساتھ ہر جگہ پھرا اور تمام ادومی مردوں کو مارتا گیا۔

That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's servants with him, to go into Egypt; Hadad being yet a little child.

ہدد اُس وقت بچ گیا اور اپنے باپ کے چند ایک سرکاری افسروں کے ساتھ فرار ہو کر مصر میں پناہ لے سکا۔

And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.

راستے میں اُنہیں دشتِ فاران کے ملکِ مِدیان سے گزرنا پڑا۔ وہاں وہ مزید کچھ آدمیوں کو جمع کر سکے اور سفر کرتے کرتے مصر پہنچ گئے۔ ہدد مصر کے بادشاہ فرعون کے پاس گیا تو اُس نے اُسے گھر، کچھ زمین اور خوراک مہیا کی۔

And Hadad found great favour in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

ہدد فرعون کو اِتنا پسند آیا کہ اُس نے اُس کی شادی اپنی بیوی ملکہ تحفنیس کی بہن کے ساتھ کرائی۔

And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh's house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh's household among the sons of Pharaoh.

اِس بہن کے بیٹا پیدا ہوا جس کا نام جنوبت رکھا گیا۔ تحفنیس نے اُسے شاہی محل میں پالا جہاں وہ فرعون کے بیٹوں کے ساتھ پروان چڑھا۔

And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.

ایک دن ہدد کو خبر ملی کہ داؤد اور اُس کا کمانڈر یوآب فوت ہو گئے ہیں۔ تب اُس نے فرعون سے اجازت مانگی، ”مَیں اپنے ملک لوٹ جانا چاہتا ہوں، براہِ کرم مجھے جانے دیں۔“

Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.

فرعون نے اعتراض کیا، ”یہاں کیا کمی ہے کہ تم اپنے ملک واپس جانا چاہتے ہو؟“ ہدد نے جواب دیا، ”مَیں کسی بھی چیز سے محروم نہیں رہا، لیکن پھر بھی مجھے جانے دیجئے۔“

And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:

اللہ نے ایک اَور آدمی کو بھی سلیمان کے خلاف برپا کیا۔ اُس کا نام رزون بن اِلیَدع تھا۔ پہلے وہ ضوباہ کے بادشاہ ہدد عزر کی خدمت انجام دیتا تھا، لیکن ایک دن اُس نے اپنے مالک سے بھاگ کر

And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.

کچھ آدمیوں کو اپنے گرد جمع کیا اور ڈاکوؤں کے جتھے کا سرغنہ بن گیا۔ جب داؤد نے ضوباہ کو شکست دے دی تو رزون اپنے آدمیوں کے ساتھ دمشق گیا اور وہاں آباد ہو کر اپنی حکومت قائم کر لی۔

And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.

ہوتے ہوتے وہ پورے شام کا حکمران بن گیا۔ وہ اسرائیلیوں سے نفرت کرتا تھا اور سلیمان کے جیتے جی اسرائیل کا خاص دشمن بنا رہا۔ ہدد کی طرح وہ بھی اسرائیل کو تنگ کرتا رہا۔

And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon's servant, whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.

سلیمان کا ایک سرکاری افسر بھی اُس کے خلاف اُٹھ کھڑا ہوا۔ اُس کا نام یرُبعام بن نباط تھا، اور وہ افرائیم کے شہر صریدہ کا تھا۔ اُس کی ماں صروعہ بیوہ تھی۔

And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.

جب یرُبعام باغی ہوا تو اُن دنوں میں سلیمان ارد گرد کے چبوترے اور فصیل کا آخری حصہ تعمیر کر رہا تھا۔

And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.

اُس نے دیکھا کہ یرُبعام ماہر اور محنتی جوان ہے، اِس لئے اُس نے اُسے افرائیم اور منسّی کے قبیلوں کے تمام بےگار میں کام کرنے والوں پر مقرر کیا۔

And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:

ایک دن یرُبعام شہر سے نکل رہا تھا تو اُس کی ملاقات سَیلا کے نبی اخیاہ سے ہوئی۔ اخیاہ نئی چادر اوڑھے پھر رہا تھا۔ کھلے میدان میں جہاں کوئی اَور نظر نہ آیا

And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:

اخیاہ نے اپنی چادر کو پکڑ کر بارہ ٹکڑوں میں پھاڑ لیا

And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:

اور یرُبعام سے کہا، ”چادر کے دس ٹکڑے اپنے پاس رکھیں! کیونکہ رب اسرائیل کا خدا فرماتا ہے، ’اِس وقت مَیں اسرائیل کی بادشاہی کو سلیمان سے چھیننے والا ہوں۔ جب ایسا ہو گا تو مَیں اُس کے دس قبیلے تیرے حوالے کر دوں گا۔

(But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)

ایک ہی قبیلہ اُس کے پاس رہے گا، اور یہ بھی صرف اُس کے باپ داؤد اور اُس شہر کی خاطر جسے مَیں نے تمام قبیلوں میں سے چن لیا ہے۔

Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.

اِس طرح مَیں سلیمان کو سزا دوں گا، کیونکہ وہ اور اُس کے لوگ مجھے ترک کر کے صیدانیوں کی دیوی عستارات کی، موآبیوں کے دیوتا کموس کی اور عمونیوں کے دیوتا ملکوم کی پوجا کرنے لگے ہیں۔ وہ میری راہوں پر نہیں چلتے بلکہ وہی کچھ کرتے ہیں جو مجھے بالکل ناپسند ہے۔ جس طرح داؤد میرے احکام اور ہدایات کی پیروی کرتا تھا اُس طرح اُس کا بیٹا نہیں کرتا۔

Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:

لیکن مَیں اِس وقت پوری بادشاہی سلیمان کے ہاتھ سے نہیں چھینوں گا۔ اپنے خادم داؤد کی خاطر جسے مَیں نے چن لیا اور جو میرے احکام اور ہدایات کے تابع رہا مَیں سلیمان کے جیتے جی یہ نہیں کروں گا۔ وہ خود بادشاہ رہے گا،

But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.

لیکن اُس کے بیٹے سے مَیں بادشاہی چھین کر دس قبیلے تیرے حوالے کر دوں گا۔

And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

صرف ایک قبیلہ سلیمان کے بیٹے کے سپرد رہے گا تاکہ میرے خادم داؤد کا چراغ ہمیشہ میرے حضور یروشلم میں جلتا رہے، اُس شہر میں جو مَیں نے اپنے نام کی سکونت کے لئے چن لیا ہے۔

And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.

لیکن تجھے، اے یرُبعام، مَیں اسرائیل پر بادشاہ بنا دوں گا۔ جو کچھ بھی تیرا جی چاہتا ہے اُس پر تُو حکومت کرے گا۔

And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.

اُس وقت اگر تُو میرے خادم داؤد کی طرح میری ہر بات مانے گا، میری راہوں پر چلے گا اور میرے احکام اور ہدایات کے تابع رہ کر وہ کچھ کرے گا جو مجھے پسند ہے تو پھر مَیں تیرے ساتھ رہوں گا۔ پھر مَیں تیرا شاہی خاندان اُتنا ہی قائم و دائم کر دوں گا جتنا مَیں نے داؤد کا کیا ہے، اور اسرائیل تیرے ہی حوالے رہے گا۔

And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.

یوں مَیں سلیمان کے گناہ کے باعث داؤد کی اولاد کو سزا دوں گا، اگرچہ یہ ابدی سزا نہیں ہو گی۔“

Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

اِس کے بعد سلیمان نے یرُبعام کو مروانے کی کوشش کی، لیکن یرُبعام نے فرار ہو کر مصر کے بادشاہ سیسق کے پاس پناہ لی۔ وہاں وہ سلیمان کی موت تک رہا۔

And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

سلیمان کی زندگی اور حکمت کے بارے میں مزید باتیں ’سلیمان کے اعمال‘ کی کتاب میں بیان کی گئی ہیں۔

And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

سلیمان 40 سال پورے اسرائیل پر حکومت کرتا رہا۔ اُس کا دار الحکومت یروشلم تھا۔

And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

جب وہ مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملا تو اُسے یروشلم کے اُس حصے میں دفن کیا گیا جو ’داؤد کا شہر‘ کہلاتا ہے۔ پھر اُس کا بیٹا رحبعام تخت نشین ہوا۔
