Psalms 56

Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.

als die Philister ihn zu Gath ergriffen.] Sei mir gnädig, o Gott! denn es schnaubt nach mir der Mensch; den ganzen Tag mich befehdend, bedrückt er mich.

56:2

Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.

Es schnauben meine Feinde den ganzen Tag; denn viele befehden mich in Hochmut.

56:3

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

An dem Tage, da ich mich fürchte, vertraue ich auf dich.

56:4

In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

In Gott werde ich rühmen sein Wort; auf Gott vertraue ich, ich werde mich nicht fürchten; was sollte das Fleisch mir tun?

56:5

Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.

Meine Worte verdrehen sie den ganzen Tag, alle ihre Gedanken sind wider mich zum Bösen.

56:6

They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

Sie rotten sich zusammen, verstecken sich, sie beobachten meine Fersen, weil sie meiner Seele auflauern.

56:7

Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.

Sollte bei ihrem Frevel Rettung für sie sein? Im Zorn stürze nieder die Völker, o Gott!

56:8

Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?

Mein Umherirren zählst du. Lege in deinen Schlauch meine Tränen; sind sie nicht in deinem Buche?

56:9

When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

Dann werden meine Feinde umkehren an dem Tage, da ich rufe; dieses weiß ich, daß Gott für mich ist.

56:10

In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.

In Gott werde ich rühmen das Wort, in Jehova werde ich rühmen das Wort.

56:11

In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.

Auf Gott vertraue ich; ich werde mich nicht fürchten; was sollte der Mensch mir tun?

56:12

Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.

Auf mir, o Gott, sind deine Gelübde, ich werde dir Dankopfer entrichten.

56:13

For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

Denn du hast meine Seele vom Tode errettet, ja, meine Füße vom Sturz, um zu wandeln vor dem Angesicht Gottes im Lichte der Lebendigen.
