I Samuel 15

Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD.

Und Samuel sprach zu Saul: Jehova hat mich gesandt, um dich zum König zu salben über sein Volk, über Israel. So höre nun auf die Stimme der Worte Jehovas.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.

So spricht Jehova der Heerscharen: Ich habe angesehen, was Amalek Israel getan, wie er sich ihm in den Weg gestellt hat, als es aus Ägypten heraufzog.

Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

Nun ziehe hin und schlage Amalek, und verbannet alles, was er hat, und schone seiner nicht; und töte vom Manne bis zum Weibe, vom Kinde bis zum Säugling, vom Rinde bis zum Kleinvieh, vom Kamel bis zum Esel.

And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.

Da rief Saul das Volk auf und musterte sie zu Telaim, 200000 Mann zu Fuß und 10000 Männer von Juda.

And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.

Und Saul kam bis zu der Stadt der Amalekiter, und er legte einen Hinterhalt in das Tal.

And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.

Und Saul sprach zu den Kenitern: Gehet, weichet, ziehet hinab aus der Mitte der Amalekiter, daß ich dich nicht mit ihnen wegraffe! Denn du, du hast Güte erwiesen an allen Kindern Israel, als sie aus Ägypten heraufzogen. Und die Keniter wichen aus der Mitte der Amalekiter.

And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt.

Und Saul schlug die Amalekiter von Hawila an bis nach Sur hin, das vor Ägypten liegt.

And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

Und er ergriff Agag, den König der Amalekiter, lebendig; und das ganze Volk verbannte er mit der Schärfe des Schwertes.

But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.

Und Saul und das Volk verschonten Agag und das Beste vom Klein- und Rindvieh und die Tiere vom zweiten Wurf und die Mastschafe und alles, was gut war, und sie wollten sie nicht verbannen; alles Vieh aber, das gering und schwächlich war, das verbannten sie.

Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying,

Da geschah das Wort Jehovas zu Samuel also:

It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.

Es reut mich, daß ich Saul zum König gemacht habe; denn er hat sich hinter mir abgewandt und hat meine Worte nicht erfüllt. Und Samuel entbrannte und schrie zu Jehova die ganze Nacht.

And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.

Und am Morgen machte Samuel sich früh auf, Saul entgegen. Und es wurde Samuel berichtet und gesagt: Saul ist nach Karmel gekommen; und siehe, er hat sich ein Denkmal errichtet, und er hat sich gewandt und ist weitergegangen und nach Gilgal hinabgezogen.

And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.

Und Samuel kam zu Saul; und Saul sprach zu ihm: Gesegnet seiest du von Jehova! Ich habe das Wort Jehovas erfüllt.

And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

Und Samuel sprach: Was ist denn das für ein Blöken von Kleinvieh in meinen Ohren, und ein Brüllen von Rindern, das ich höre?

And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

Und Saul sprach: Sie haben sie von den Amalekitern gebracht, weil das Volk das Beste vom Klein- und Rindvieh verschont hat, um Jehova, deinem Gott, zu opfern; aber das Übrige haben wir verbannt.

Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.

Da sprach Samuel zu Saul: Halt, daß ich dir kundtue, was Jehova diese Nacht zu mir geredet hat. Und er sprach zu ihm: Rede!

And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?

Und Samuel sprach: Wurdest du nicht, als du klein in deinen Augen warst, das Haupt der Stämme Israels? Und Jehova salbte dich zum König über Israel.

And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.

Und Jehova hat dich auf den Weg gesandt und gesagt: Ziehe hin und verbanne die Sünder, die Amalekiter, und streite wider sie, bis du sie vernichtest.

Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?

Warum hast du denn der Stimme Jehovas nicht gehorcht, und bist über die Beute hergefallen und hast getan, was böse ist in den Augen Jehovas?

And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.

Und Saul sprach zu Samuel: Ich habe der Stimme Jehovas gehorcht und bin auf dem Wege gezogen, den Jehova mich gesandt hat; und ich habe Agag, den König der Amalekiter, hergebracht, und die Amalekiter habe ich verbannt.

But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal.

Aber das Volk hat von der Beute genommen: Klein- und Rindvieh, das Vorzüglichste des Verbannten, um Jehova, deinem Gott, zu opfern in Gilgal.

And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

Und Samuel sprach zu Saul: Hat Jehova Lust an Brandopfern und Schlachtopfern, wie daran, daß man der Stimme Jehovas gehorcht? Siehe, Gehorchen ist besser als Schlachtopfer, Aufmerken besser als das Fett der Widder.

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Denn wie Sünde der Wahrsagerei ist Widerspenstigkeit, und der Eigenwille wie Abgötterei und Götzendienst. Weil du das Wort Jehovas verworfen hast, so hat er dich verworfen, daß du nicht mehr König seiest.

And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

Und Saul sprach zu Samuel: Ich habe gesündigt, daß ich den Befehl Jehovas und deine Worte übertreten habe; denn ich habe das Volk gefürchtet und auf seine Stimme gehört.

Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.

Und nun, vergib doch meine Sünde, und kehre mit mir um, daß ich vor Jehova anbete.

And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.

Aber Samuel sprach zu Saul: Ich kehre nicht mit dir um; denn du hast das Wort Jehovas verworfen, und Jehova hat dich verworfen, daß du nicht mehr König über Israel seiest.

And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.

Und als Samuel sich wandte zu gehen, da ergriff er den Zipfel seines Oberkleides, und derselbe riß ab.

And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.

Da sprach Samuel zu ihm: Jehova hat heute das Königtum Israels von dir abgerissen und es deinem Nächsten gegeben, der besser ist als du.

And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.

Und auch lügt nicht das Vertrauen Israels, und er bereut nicht; denn nicht ein Mensch ist er, um zu bereuen.

Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God.

Und er sprach: Ich habe gesündigt! Nun ehre mich doch vor den Ältesten meines Volkes und vor Israel, und kehre mit mir um, daß ich vor Jehova, deinem Gott, anbete.

So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.

Und Samuel kehrte um, Saul nach, und Saul betete an vor Jehova.

Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.

Und Samuel sprach: Bringet Agag, den König der Amalekiter, zu mir her. Und Agag kam lustig zu ihm; und Agag sprach: Fürwahr, die Bitterkeit des Todes ist gewichen!

And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.

Aber Samuel sprach: Wie dein Schwert Weiber kinderlos gemacht hat, so sei kinderlos unter Weibern deine Mutter! Und Samuel hieb Agag in Stücke vor Jehova zu Gilgal.

Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.

Und Samuel ging nach Rama; und Saul zog in sein Haus hinauf nach Gibea-Saul.

And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.

Und Samuel sah Saul nicht mehr bis zum Tage seines Todes; denn Samuel trauerte um Saul, da es Jehova reute, daß er Saul zum König über Israel gemacht hatte.
