Hebrews 6

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

پس دروس ابتدایی مسیحیّت را پشت سر بگذاریم و به سوی بلوغ پیش برویم. ما نباید همان مقدّمات اوّلیه مانند توبه از کارهای بیهوده، ایمان به خدا،

Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

تعلیم دربارهٔ تعمیدهای مختلف و دستگذاری و قیامت مردگان و كیفر ابدی را تكرار كنیم.

And this will we do, if God permit.

آری به امید خدا جلو خواهیم رفت.

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

زیرا آنانی كه از نور الهی منوّر شده‌اند و طعم عطیهٔ آسمانی را چشیده‌اند و در روح‌القدس نصیبی دارند

And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

و نیكویی كلام خدا را در وجود خود درک کرده‌اند و نیروهای جهان آینده را احساس نموده‌اند،

If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

اگر بعد از این‌همه بركات، باز از ایمان دور شوند، محال است كه بار دیگر آنان را به توبه كشانید، زیرا با دستهای خود، پسر خدا را بار دیگر به صلیب میخكوب می‌کنند و او را در برابر همه رسوا می‌سازند.

For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:

اگر زمین، بارانی را كه بر آن می‌بارد، جذب كند و محصول مفیدی برای كارندگان خود به بار آورد، از طرف خدا بركت می‌باید.

But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

امّا اگر آن زمین خار و خس و علفهای هرزه به بار آورد، زمینی بی‌فایده است و احتمال دارد مورد لعنت خدا قرار گیرد و در آخر محكوم به سوختن خواهد شد.

But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

امّا ای عزیزان، در مورد شما اطمینان داریم كه حال و وضع بهتری دارید و این نشانهٔ نجات شماست.

For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

خدا با انصاف است و همهٔ كارهایی را كه شما کرده‌اید و محبتّی را كه به نام او نشان داده‌اید فراموش نخواهد كرد. مقصود من آن كمكی است كه به دوستان مسیحی خود کرده‌اید و هنوز هم می‌کنید.

And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:

امّا آرزو می‌کنیم كه همهٔ شما همان اشتیاق شدید را نشان دهید تا سرانجام امید شما از قوّه به فعل در آید.

That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

ما نمی‌خواهیم كه شما تنبل باشید، بلكه می‌خواهیم از آنانی كه به وسیلهٔ ایمان و صبر، وارث وعده‌ها می‌شوند، پیروی كنید.

For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,

وقتی خدا به ابراهیم وعده داد، به نام خود سوگند یاد كرد، زیرا كسی بزرگتر نبود كه به نام او سوگند یاد كند.

Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.

وعدهٔ خدا این بود: «سوگند می‌‌‌‌‌‌خورم كه تو را به فراوانی بركت دهم و فرزندان تو را كثیر گردانم.»

And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

پس از آنکه ابراهیم با صبر زیاد انتظار كشید، وعدهٔ خدا برای او به انجام رسید.

For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.

در میان آدمیان مرسوم است كه به چیزی بزرگتر از خود سوگند بخورند و آنچه مباحثات را خاتمه می‌دهد معمولاً یک سوگند است.

Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:

همچنین خدا وقتی می‌‌خواست صریح‌تر و واضح‌تر به وارثان وعده نشان دهد كه مقاصد او غیرقابل تغییر است، آن را با سوگند تأیید فرمود.

That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

پس در اینجا دو امر غیرقابل تغییر (یعنی وعده و سوگند خدا) وجود دارد كه محال است خدا در آنها دروغ بگوید. پس ما كه به او پناه برده‌ایم، با دلگرمی بسیار به امیدی كه او در برابر ما قرار داده است متوسّل می‌شویم.

Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

آن امیدی كه ما داریم مثل لنگری برای جانهای ماست. آن امید، قوی و مطمئن است كه از پردهٔ معبد گذشته و به مقدّس‌ترین مکان وارد می‌شود؛

Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

جایی‌که عیسی از جانب ما و قبل از ما وارد شده و در رتبهٔ كهانت ملکی‌صدق تا به ابد كاهن اعظم شده است.
