Genesis 50

And Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.

یوسف‌ بر روی پدرش ‌افتاده ‌گریه ‌می‌كرد و صورت‌ او را می‌بوسید.

And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Israel.

سپس ‌به ‌پزشكان ‌مخصوص ‌خود دستور داد تا جنازهٔ پدرش ‌را مومیایی كنند.

And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.

مومیایی كردن‌ آن ‌مطابق‌ مراسم ‌آن ‌زمان، چهل‌ روز طول ‌كشید و مصریان ‌مدّت‌ هفتاد روز برای او عزا گرفتند.

And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

وقتی روزهای عزا تمام ‌شد، یوسف ‌به‌ درباریان ‌فرعون ‌گفت‌: «لطفاً پیغام‌ مرا به ‌فرعون‌ برسانید و بگویید،

My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.

پدرم‌ در موقع‌ فوت ‌خود مرا قسم ‌داده ‌است‌ كه ‌بدن ‌او را در سرزمین کنعان ‌در قبری كه ‌قبلاً تهیّه ‌كرده‌ است، ‌به ‌خاک ‌بسپارم‌. پس‌ خواهش‌ می‌كنم‌ اجازه ‌بفرمایید بروم ‌و بدن‌ پدرم ‌را به‌ خاک ‌بسپارم ‌و بازگردم‌.»

And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee swear.

فرعون‌ گفت‌: «برو و همان طوری که ‌به ‌پدرت ‌قول‌ داده‌ای جنازهٔ او را به‌ خاک‌ بسپار.»

And Joseph went up to bury his father: and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,

پس ‌یوسف‌ رفت‌ تا پدرش ‌را دفن‌ كند و تمام‌ درباریان فرعون ‌و همهٔ بزرگان ‌و رهبران‌ مصر، با یوسف‌ رفتند.

And all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father's house: only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.

خانوادهٔ یوسف‌، برادرانش‌ و تمام‌ کسانی‌که ‌اهل‌ خانهٔ پدرش‌ بودند، همه‌ با او رفتند. فقط‌ بچّه‌های كوچک‌ و گلّه‌ها و رمه‌ها در منطقهٔ جوشن ‌باقی ماندند.

And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and it was a very great company.

ارّابه‌‌سوارها و اسب ‌سواران ‌نیز همراه ‌یوسف ‌رفتند. آنها عدّهٔ بسیار زیادی بودند.

And they came to the threshingfloor of Atad, which is beyond Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: and he made a mourning for his father seven days.

وقتی آنها به‌ خرمنگاه ‌اطاد كه ‌در شرق ‌اردن‌ است‌ رسیدند، گریه ‌و زاری سختی كردند و مدّت‌ هفت ‌روز برای پدر خود مراسم‌ عزاداری برپا كردند.

And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abel–mizraim, which is beyond Jordan.

وقتی مردم‌ كنعان ‌دیدند كه ‌این‌ مردم ‌در اطاد مراسم‌ عزاداری برپا كرده‌اند، گفتند: «مصریان‌ چه ‌عزای بزرگی گرفته‌اند.» به ‌همین ‌دلیل ‌است‌ كه‌ آن ‌محل «ایل‌مصرایم‌» نامیده ‌شد.

And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:

بنابراین‌ پسران‌ یعقوب‌، همان‌طور كه ‌او به آنها دستور داده‌ بود، عمل‌ كردند.

For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.

آنها جنازهٔ او را به‌ كنعان ‌بردند و در آرامگاه ‌مكفیله‌-در شمال ‌ممری در مزرعه‌ای كه ‌ابراهیم‌ از عفرون‌ حِتّی برای آرامگاه ‌خریده ‌بود- به‌ خاک‌ سپردند.

And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

وقتی یوسف‌ جنازهٔ پدرش ‌را به ‌خاک ‌سپرد، با برادرانش ‌و همهٔ کسانی‌که ‌برای مراسم‌ تدفین‌ با او آمده‌ بودند، به‌ مصر برگشت‌.

And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.

برادران‌ یوسف‌، بعد از مرگ‌ پدرشان‌ گفتند: «مبادا یوسف‌ هنوز نسبت ‌به‌ ما كینه‌ داشته‌ باشد و بخواهد به‌خاطر بدیهایی كه‌ به‌ او كرده‌ایم‌، ما را به ‌مكافات‌ کارهای ‌خودمان ‌برساند!»

And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,

پس ‌برای یوسف ‌پیغام ‌فرستادند كه‌: «پدرمان‌ قبل از اینکه ‌بمیرد،

So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

به ‌ما گفت‌: 'از تو خواهش‌ كنیم ‌كه‌ گناه‌ برادرانت‌ را ببخشی‌، زیرا آنها با تو بد رفتاری كردند.' حالا از تو تقاضا می‌كنیم‌، خطایی را كه ‌ما غلامان‌ خدای پدرت ‌به ‌تو كرده‌ایم‌ ببخشی‌.» یوسف ‌وقتی این ‌پیغام‌ را شنید، گریه کرد.

And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.

سپس ‌برادران ‌او خودشان ‌آمدند و در مقابل‌ یوسف‌ تعظیم‌ كردند و گفتند: «ما اینجا مانند غلامان ‌تو، در برابر تو هستیم‌.»

And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

ولی یوسف ‌به ‌آنها گفت‌: «نترسید. من ‌نمی‌توانم‌ خودم ‌را جای خدا بگذارم‌.

But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

شما برای من‌ نقشهٔ بد كشیدید ولی خدا، آن را ‌خیّریت‌ گردانید تا چنانكه‌ امروز می‌بینید، جان ‌عدّهٔ زیادی را حفظ ‌كند.

Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

دیگر دلیلی ندارد كه ‌بترسید. من‌ از شما و فرزندان ‌شما مواظبت ‌خواهم‌ كرد.» پس ‌یوسف ‌حرفهای دلگرم ‌كننده ‌به‌ آنها گفت‌ و دوباره‌ آنها را مطمئن‌ ساخت‌.

And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.

یوسف‌ به ‌اتّفاق‌ خانوادهٔ پدرش ‌به ‌زندگی در مصر ادامه ‌داد و هنگامی كه‌ فوت‌ كرد صد و ده‌ سال ‌داشت‌.

And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.

یوسف‌، فرزندان ‌افرایم‌ و نوه‌های او را هم‌ دید. او همچنین‌ تا زمان ‌تولّد فرزندان‌ ماخیر، پسر منسی هم ‌زنده ‌بود.

And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

او به‌ برادرانش ‌گفت‌: «من ‌در حال ‌مرگ ‌هستم‌. امّا به طور یقین ‌خدا از شما مواظبت ‌خواهد كرد و شما را از این ‌زمین ‌به ‌سرزمینی كه ‌به‌ ابراهیم ‌و اسحاق ‌و یعقوب ‌وعده ‌داده ‌است‌، خواهد برد.»

And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.

سپس ‌یوسف ‌از آنها خواست‌ تا قسم‌ بخورند و قول‌ بدهند كه‌ وقتی خدا آنها را به‌ آن ‌سرزمین ‌می‌برد، آنها جنازهٔ او را با خودشان‌ ببرند.

So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

یوسف ‌در سن‌ صد و ده‌ سالگی در مصر وفات ‌یافت‌. آنها جنازهٔ او را مومیایی كردند و در تابوت‌ گذاشتند.
