II Thessalonians 2

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

ای دوستان، دربارهٔ آمدن خداوند ما عیسی مسیح و جمع شدن ما با او، از شما خواهش می‌کنم

That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

نگذارید سخنان کسی‌که به استنادِ نامه و گفته‌های ما یا با موعظه و نبوّتهای خود ادّعا می‌کند كه روز خداوند فرا رسیده است، شما را مشوّش و نگران سازد.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

نگذارید هیچ‌کس به هیچ عنوانی شما را فریب دهد، زیرا آن روز نخواهد آمد، مگر اینکه اول شورش عظیمی علیه خدا روی دهد و مظهر شرارت -‌یعنی آن مردی كه از ابتدا مقرّر بود به جهنم برود- ظهور كند.

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

او با هر آنچه خدا خوانده می‌شود و هر آنچه مورد پرستش است، مخالفت می‌کند و خود را بالاتر از همهٔ آنها قرار خواهد داد به حدّی كه در معبد بزرگ خدا می‌نشیند و ادّعای خدایی می‌کند.

Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

آیا فراموش کرده‌اید كه وقتی با شما بودم این چیزها را به شما گفتم؟

And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

خود شما می‌دانید كه چه چیزی فعلاً از ظهور او جلوگیری می‌کند. او در زمان معیّن شده ظهور خواهد کرد.

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

اكنون شرارت مخفیانه كار می‌کند، ولی هرگاه قدرتی كه مانع آن است از میان برداشته شود به طور آشكار كار خواهد كرد.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

آنگاه مظهر شرارت ظهور خواهد كرد و عیسی خداوند با نَفَس دهانِ خود او را خواهد كُشت و با ظهور پر شكوه خود او را نابود خواهد كرد.

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

ظهور آن مظهر شرارت در اثر فعالیّتهای شیطان خواهد بود و با انواع نشانه‌ها و معجزات فریبنده

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

و هر نوع شرارتی كه برای محكومین به هلاكت فریبنده است، همراه خواهد بود. چون آنها عشق به حقیقت را كه می‌تواند آنان را نجات بخشد، قبول نكردند.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

از این جهت خدا آنها را گرفتار نیرویی گمراه‌كننده خواهد كرد و این نیرو طوری در آنها عمل می‌کند كه آنچه دروغ است، باور كنند.

That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

در نتیجه همهٔ آنانی كه به حقیقت ایمان نیاورده‌اند و از گناه لذّت برده‌اند، محكوم خواهند شد.

But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

امّا، ای دوستان محبوب در خداوند، ما موظّفیم همیشه خدا را به‌خاطر شما شكر كنیم، زیرا خدا شما را به عنوان اولین ایمانداران برگزید تا به وسیلهٔ روح‌القدس، شما را پاک گرداند و از راه ایمان به حقیقت نجات یابید.

Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

شما را به وسیلهٔ مژده‌ای كه ما برایتان آوردیم، دعوت كرد تا در جلال خداوند ما عیسی مسیح سهمی داشته باشید.

Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

پس ای دوستان، استوار بمانید و آن تعالیمی را كه شفاهاً یا كتباً از ما آموختید، محكم نگاه دارید.

Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,

خود خداوند ما عیسی مسیح و خدای پدر كه ما را دوست داشته است و از راه فیض ما را دایماً تشویق كرده و امید نیكویی به ما بخشیده است،

Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

شما را نیز تشویق و تقویت كند تا آنچه را كه نیكوست بگویید و به عمل آورید.
