I Timothy 2

2:1

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

پس قبل از هر چیز تأكید می‌کنم كه درخواست‌ها، دعاها، شفاعتها و سپاس‌ها برای همهٔ مردم،

2:2

For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

برای پادشاهان و همهٔ اولیای امور به پیشگاه خداوند تقدیم گردد تا ما بتوانیم با آرامش و صلح و در كمال خداترسی و سرافرازی به سر بریم

2:3

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

زیرا، انجام این كار در حضور خدا، نجات‌دهندهٔ ما، نیكو و پسندیده است.

2:4

Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

او مایل است همهٔ آدمیان نجات یابند و حقیقت را بشناسند.

2:5

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

زیرا یک خدا وجود دارد و یک واسطه بین خدا و انسان، یعنی شخص عیسی مسیح

2:6

Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

كه جان خود را به عنوان كفّاره در راه همه داد و به این ترتیب در زمان مناسب این حقیقت به ثبوت رسید

2:7

Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

و به‌خاطر این است كه من که به سِمَت گوینده و رسول و معلّم ملل در تعلیم ایمان و حقیقت منصوب شدم، حقیقت را بیان می‌کنم و دروغ نمی‌گویم.

2:8

I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

آرزو دارم كه مردها در همه‌جا بدون خشم و نزاع دستهای مقدّس خود را بلند كرده، دعا نمایند.

2:9

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

من همچنین می‌خواهم زنها، خود را به طور آبرومند و معقول و با لباسهای مناسب بیارایند، نه با آرایش گیسوان و یا زیورهای طلا و جواهرات و لباسهای گران‌قیمت.
