Psalms 76

Asaphin Psalmi ja veisu, kanteleilla, edelläveisaajalle. Jumala on tuttu Juudassa, Israelissa on hänen suuri nimensä.

In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

Salemissa on hänen majansa, ja Zionissa hänen asumisensa.

In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.

Siellä hän särkee joutsen nuolet, kilvet, miekan ja sodan, Sela!

There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.

Sinä olet kirkkaampi ja väkevämpi kuin ryöstövuoret.

Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

Urhoolliset pitää ryöstettämän ja uneensa nukkuman; ja kaikki sotamiehet täytyy käsistänsä hermottomaksi tulla.

The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.

Sinun rangaistuksestas, Jakobin Jumala, vajoo uneen orhi ja ratas,

At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

Sinä olet peljättävä: kuka voi seisoa sinun edessäs, koskas vihastut?

Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

Koskas tuomion annat kuulua taivaasta, niin maa vapisee ja vaikenee;

Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

Koska Jumala nousee tuomitsemaan, että hän auttais kaikkia raadollisia maan päällä, Sela!

When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

Kuin ihmiset kiukuitsevat sinua vastaan, niin sinä voitat kunnian, ja kuin he vielä enemmin kiukuitsevat, niin sinä olet valmis.

Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

Luvatkaat ja antakaat Herralle teidän Jumalallenne kaikki, jotka hänen ympärillänsä olette, viekäät lahjoja peljättävälle,

Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

Joka päämiehiltä ottaa pois rohkeuden, ja on peljättävä maan kuninkaille.

He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
