Psalms 58

ای فرمانروایان، آیا به راستی حکم می‌کنید؟ و ای داوران آیا به انصاف داوری می‌نمایید؟

Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

خیر! شما از روی شرارت فکر می‌کنید و دستهای شما پُر از ظلم است!

Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

شریران از ابتدا منحرف و از روز تولّد دروغگو بوده‌اند.

The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

آنها مانند مار زهرآگین هستند و مانند مار کبرای کر، که گوش خود را می‌بندند،

Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;

تا صدای افسونگران را نشوند، هرچند آنها با مهارت افسون کنند.

Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.

خدایا، دندانهای این شیرهای درّنده را در دهانشان بشکن.

Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.

مانند آبی که در یک زمین خشک ناپدید می‌شود، آنها را محو کن و مانند علف بیابان پایمال و پژمرده گردان.

Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.

بگذار مانند حلزونی که به تدریج در لجن فرو می‌رود و مانند کودکی که مرده به دنیا می‌آید، روی روشنی را نبینند.

As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

خداوند زودتر از آن که دیگ، گرمای آتش را احساس کند، پیر و جوان آنها را هرچه زودتر مانند خار و خاشاک از بین خواهد برد.

Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.

نیکوکاران وقتی ببینند که شریران به کیفر گناه خود رسیده‌اند، خوشحال خواهند شد و پاهای خود را در خون آنان خواهند شست.

The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

سرانجام همه خواهند گفت: «به راستی که نیکوکاران پاداش می‌گیرند، و خدایی هست که داور جهان است.»

So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.
