Psalms 48

خداوند بزرگ است، باید او را در شهر خدای ما و بر کوه مقدّس او پرستش نمود.

Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

صهیون، کوه خدا که زیبا و بلند است، شهر پادشاه بزرگ که شادی بخش همهٔ مردم دنیاست.

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

خدا نشان داده است که در قصرهای آن، در حضور او امنیّت است.

God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

پادشاهان همه متّفق شدند تا به آن شهر حمله کنند.

For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.

امّا وقتی آن را دیدند، تعجّب کردند و وحشتزده فرار نمودند.

They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.

از ترس و وحشت مانند زنی که درد زایمان داشته باشد به خود می‌لرزیدند.

Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

همچون كشتی‌هایی که دچار توفان می‌گردند به تلاطم افتادند.

Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

آنچه را که دربارهٔ کارهای خدا شنیده بودیم، اکنون در شهر خدای خود، خداوند متعال با چشم خود می‌بینیم. خداوند آن شهر را همیشه حفظ خواهد کرد.

As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.

ای خدا، ما در معبد بزرگ تو، به محبّت پایدار تو می‌اندیشیم.

We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

تمام مردم تو را ستایش می‌کنند، و آوازهٔ تو در سراسر عالم پیچیده است. تو با عدالت داوری می‌کنی.

According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.

مردم صهیون شادمانی می‌کنند و شهرهای یهودیه به وجد آمده‌اند، زیرا تو با عدالت داوری می‌کنی.

Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.

ای قوم خدا، به دور صهیون بگردید و بُرجهایش را بشمارید.

Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

به دیوارهای آن توجّه نمایید و سنگرهایش را تماشا کنید تا بتوانید برای فرزندان خود آن را بازگو کنید

Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.

و بگویید این خدا، خدای ماست و تا ابد راهنمای ماست.

For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
