Genesis 31

یعقوب ‌شنید كه‌ پسران‌ لابان‌ می‌گویند: «تمام‌ ثروت ‌یعقوب ‌مال ‌پدر ماست‌. او تمام‌ دارایی‌اش‌ را از اموال‌ پدر ما به دست‌ آورده‌ است‌.»

And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gotten all this glory.

همچنین ‌یعقوب ‌دید كه‌ لابان‌ دیگر مانند سابق ‌با او دوست ‌نیست‌.

And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as before.

سپس‌ خداوند به ‌او فرمود: «به‌ سرزمین ‌اجدادت ‌یعنی جایی كه ‌در آن ‌به دنیا آمدی برو. من ‌با تو خواهم‌ بود.»

And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee.

پس ‌یعقوب‌ برای راحیل ‌و لیه پیغام‌ فرستاد تا در مزرعه‌، جایی كه‌ گلّه‌ها هستند، پیش ‌او بیایند.

And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock,

به‌ آنها گفت‌: «من‌ فهمیده‌ام‌ كه‌ پدر شما دیگر مثل ‌سابق‌ با من‌ دوستانه ‌رفتار نمی‌كند. ولی خدای پدرم‌ با من‌ بوده‌ است‌.

And said unto them, I see your father's countenance, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father hath been with me.

هردوی شما می‌دانید كه‌ من ‌با تمام ‌وجودم‌ برای پدر شما كار كرده‌ام‌.

And ye know that with all my power I have served your father.

ولی پدر شما مرا فریب‌ داده‌ و تا به ‌حال‌ ده ‌بار اجرت‌ مرا عوض‌ كرده ‌است‌. ولی خدا نگذاشت ‌كه‌ او به ‌من‌ صدمه‌ای بزند.

And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.

هر وقت‌ لابان ‌می‌گفت‌: 'بزهای ابلق ‌اجرت ‌تو باشد'، تمام‌ گلّه‌، بُزغاله‌های ابلق‌ زاییدند. وقتی می‌گفت‌: 'بُزغاله‌های خالدار و ابلق اجرت ‌تو باشد'، تمام‌ گلّه، ‌بُزغاله‌های خالدار و خط‌خطی زاییدند.

If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the cattle bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ringstraked shall be thy hire; then bare all the cattle ringstraked.

خدا گلّه‌های پدر شما را از او گرفته ‌و به‌ من ‌داده ‌است‌.

Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.

«موقع ‌جفت‌گیری گلّه‌ها‌ خوابی دیدم، كه ‌بُزهای نری كه ‌جفت‌گیری می‌كنند، ابلق‌، خالدار و خط‌خطی هستند.

And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the rams which leaped upon the cattle were ringstraked, speckled, and grisled.

فرشتهٔ خداوند در خواب‌ به‌ من‌ گفت‌: 'یعقوب‌' گفتم‌: 'بلی'

And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I.

او ادامه داد: 'نگاه‌ كن‌. تمام ‌بُزهای نر كه ‌جفت‌گیری می‌كنند، ابلق‌، خالدار و خط‌خطی هستند. من‌ این‌كار را كرده‌ام‌. زیرا تمام‌ كارهایی را كه‌ لابان ‌با تو كرده‌ است‌، دیده‌ام‌.

And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ringstraked, speckled, and grisled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee.

من ‌خدایی هستم‌ كه‌ در بیت‌ئیل ‌بر تو ظاهر شدم‌. در جایی كه‌ یک ‌ستون ‌سنگی به عنوان ‌یادبود بنا كردی و روغن ‌زیتون‌ روی آن ‌ریختی‌. همان ‌جایی كه ‌برای من ‌وقف‌ كردی‌. حالا حاضر شو و به ‌سرزمینی كه ‌در آن به دنیا آمدی بازگرد.'»

I am the God of Beth–el, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.

راحیل‌ و لیه‌ در جواب ‌یعقوب ‌گفتند: «از پدر ما ارثی برای ما گذاشته ‌نشده ‌است‌.

And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house?

او ما را مثل ‌بیگانه‌ها فریب ‌داده ‌است‌. ما را فروخته‌ و قیمت‌ ما را خرج‌ كرده‌ است‌.

Are we not counted of him strangers? for he hath sold us, and hath quite devoured also our money.

تمام‌ این‌ ثروتی كه ‌خدا از پدر ما گرفته‌ است‌ مال‌ ما و بچّه‌های ماست ‌و هرچه‌ خدا به ‌تو گفته ‌است‌، انجام ‌بده‌.»

For all the riches which God hath taken from our father, that is ours, and our children's: now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do.

پس ‌یعقوب‌ تمام‌ گلّه‌ها‌ و تمام‌ چیزهایی را كه‌ در بین‌النهرین ‌به ‌دست ‌آورده ‌بود، جمع ‌كرد. زنها و بچّه‌های خود را سوار شتر كرد و آماده‌ شد تا به ‌سرزمین ‌پدری‌اش‌ یعنی كنعان ‌برگردد.

Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon camels;

پس ‌یعقوب‌ تمام‌ گلّه‌ها‌ و تمام‌ چیزهایی را كه‌ در بین‌النهرین ‌به ‌دست ‌آورده ‌بود، جمع ‌كرد. زنها و بچّه‌های خود را سوار شتر كرد و آماده‌ شد تا به ‌سرزمین ‌پدری‌اش‌ یعنی كنعان ‌برگردد.

And he carried away all his cattle, and all his goods which he had gotten, the cattle of his getting, which he had gotten in Padan–aram, for to go to Isaac his father in the land of Canaan.

لابان ‌رفته ‌بود پشم‌ گوسفندانش‌ را بچیند. وقتی او نبود، راحیل ‌بُتهایی را كه‌ در خانهٔ پدرش‌ بود دزدید.

And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that were her father's.

یعقوب‌، لابان‌ را فریب‌ داد و به‌ او خبر نداد كه‌ می‌خواهد از آنجا برود.

And Jacob stole away unawares to Laban the Syrian, in that he told him not that he fled.

او هرچه‌ داشت‌ جمع ‌كرد و با عجله ‌از آنجا رفت‌. او از رودخانهٔ فرات‌ گذشت‌ و به ‌سمت‌ تپّه‌های جلعاد رفت‌.

So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the river, and set his face toward the mount Gilead.

بعد از سه ‌روز به ‌لابان ‌خبر دادند كه ‌یعقوب‌ فرار كرده‌ است‌.

And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled.

او مردان‌ خود را جمع ‌كرد و به ‌تعقیب‌ یعقوب ‌پرداخت ‌بالاخره‌ بعد از هفت‌ روز در تپّه‌های جلعاد به‌ او رسید.

And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead.

آن ‌شب ‌خدا در خواب ‌به‌ لابان‌ ظاهر شد و به‌ او فرمود: «مواظب باش مبادا یعقوب را به هیچ‌وجه آزار دهی.»

And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

یعقوب ‌در كوه‌ اردو زده ‌بود. لابان ‌و یاران ‌او هم‌ در تپّه‌های جلعاد اردو زدند.

Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead.

لابان ‌به ‌یعقوب‌ گفت‌: «چرا مرا فریب‌ دادی و دختران‌ مرا مانند اسیر جنگی با خود بردی‌؟

And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done, that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives taken with the sword?

چرا مرا فریب ‌دادی و بدون‌ خبر فرار كردی‌؟ اگر به‌ من‌ خبر می‌دادی تو را با ساز و آواز بدرقه‌ می‌كردم‌.

Wherefore didst thou flee away secretly, and steal away from me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp?

تو حتّی نگذاشتی كه‌ من ‌نوه‌ها و دخترهایم ‌را برای خداحافظی ببوسم‌. این‌كارت ‌احمقانه‌ بود.

And hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? thou hast now done foolishly in so doing.

من‌ قدرت‌ آن ‌را دارم ‌كه‌ تو را اذیّت‌ كنم‌، امّا دیشب ‌خدای پدرت‌ به ‌من‌ گفت ‌كه ‌تو را آزار ندهم.

It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying, Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.

من ‌می‌دانم‌ كه ‌تو علاقهٔ زیادی داشتی به ‌وطنت‌ بازگردی‌. امّا چرا بُتهای مرا دزدیدی‌؟»

And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone, because thou sore longedst after thy father's house, yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods?

یعقوب‌ جواب‌ داد: «من ‌می‌ترسیدم‌ كه‌ مبادا دخترهایت‌ را با زور از من‌ بگیری‌.

And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid: for I said, Peradventure thou wouldest take by force thy daughters from me.

امّا پیش‌ هر کسی‌که ‌ ‌بُتهایت‌ را پیدا كنی‌، آن ‌شخص‌ باید كشته‌ شود. اینجا در حضور یاران‌ ما جستجو كن ‌و هرچه‌ از اموال‌ خودت‌ دیدی بردار.» یعقوب ‌نمی‌دانست‌ كه ‌راحیل ‌بُتها را دزدیده‌ است‌.

With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them.

لابان ‌چادر‌های یعقوب‌، لیه ‌و كنیزهای آنها را جستجو كرد و چیزی پیدا نكرد. پس ‌به‌ چادر ‌راحیل‌ رفت‌.

And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the two maidservants' tents; but he found them not. Then went he out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.

راحیل ‌ ‌بُتها را زیر زین ‌شتر پنهان‌ كرده ‌بود و خودش ‌هم‌ روی آن ‌نشسته ‌بود. لابان ‌تمام ‌چادر ‌او را جستجو كرد ولی آنها را پیدا نكرد.

Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel's furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found them not.

راحیل ‌به‌ پدرش‌ گفت‌: «از من‌ دلگیر نشو، چون ‌عادت ‌ماهانهٔ زنانگی دارم‌ و نمی‌توانم ‌در حضور تو بایستم‌.» لابان‌ با وجود جستجوی زیاد نتوانست ‌بُتهای خود را پیدا كند.

And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the images.

آنگاه‌ یعقوب ‌خشمگین‌ شد و به ‌لابان ‌پرخاش‌ كرد و گفت‌: «چه ‌خطایی از من ‌سر زده‌ كه‌ تو این‌طور مرا تعقیب‌ كردی‌؟

And Jacob was wroth, and chode with Laban: and Jacob answered and said to Laban, What is my trespass? what is my sin, that thou hast so hotly pursued after me?

تو تمام‌ اموال‌ مرا جستجو كردی چه ‌چیزی از اسباب ‌خانه‌ات‌ را پیدا كردی‌؟ هرچه ‌پیدا كردی اینجا میان‌ یاران ‌خودت‌ و یاران ‌من‌ بگذار تا آنها ببینند و بگویند حق‌ با كدام‌یک‌ از ماست‌.

Whereas thou hast searched all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us both.

من ‌مدّت‌ بیست ‌سال‌ با تو بودم‌. در این ‌مدّت‌ یكی از گوسفندان‌ و یا بُزهای تو بچّه‌ نینداخته‌ است‌ و من‌ حتّی یک‌ میش ‌از گلّهٔ تو برای خودم ‌برنداشته‌ام‌.

This twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she goats have not cast their young, and the rams of thy flock have I not eaten.

هرگز گوسفندی را كه ‌حیوان ‌وحشی آن را كشته ‌بود پیش ‌تو نیاوردم‌ تا به ‌تو نشان‌ دهم‌ كه تقصیر من نبوده، بلكه‌ خودم‌ عوض‌ آن ‌را می‌دادم‌. تو آنهایی را كه‌ در شب ‌و یا روز دزدیده ‌می‌شدند، از من‌ مطالبه‌ می‌كردی‌.

That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day, or stolen by night.

بارها از گرمای روز و سرمای شب‌ نزدیک‌ بود از بین ‌بروم ‌و نمی‌توانستم ‌بخوابم‌.

Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes.

همین‌طور بیست ‌سال‌ تو را خدمت‌ كردم‌. چهارده ‌سال ‌برای دو دخترت ‌و شش سال‌ برای گلّه‌ات‌، با وجود این‌ تو ده‌ مرتبه‌ اجرت ‌مرا تغییر دادی‌.

Thus have I been twenty years in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy cattle: and thou hast changed my wages ten times.

هرگاه‌ خدای پدرانم‌، خدای ابراهیم ‌و اسحاق ‌با من ‌نمی‌بود تو دست ‌خالی مرا بیرون ‌می‌كردی‌. ولی خدا زحمات‌ مرا دیده است که چطور كار می‌كردم ‌و دیشب ‌تو را سرزنش‌ كرده ‌است‌.»

Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.

لابان‌ در جواب‌ یعقوب‌ گفت‌: «این‌ دختران‌، دختران ‌من ‌و بچّه‌های آنها بچّه‌های من ‌و این‌ گلّه‌ هم‌ گلّهٔ من‌ است‌. در حقیقت ‌هرچه‌ كه اینجا می‌بینی مال ‌من‌ است‌. امّا چون ‌نمی‌توانم‌ دخترهایم ‌و بچّه‌های آنها را از تو بگیرم‌،

And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and all that thou seest is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children which they have born?

حاضرم ‌با تو پیمان ‌ببندم‌. پس ‌بیا تا یک‌ ستون‌ سنگی درست‌ كنیم‌ تا نشانهٔ پیمان‌ ما باشد.»

Now therefore come thou, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee.

پس‌ یعقوب‌ یک‌ سنگ‌ برداشت ‌و آن را به عنوان ‌یادبود در آنجا برپا كرد.

And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.

او به ‌یاران‌ خود دستور داد تا چند تخته‌ سنگ ‌بیاورند و روی هم ‌بگذارند. سپس، آنها در كنار آن پشته سنگها با هم ‌غذا خوردند.

And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made an heap: and they did eat there upon the heap.

لابان ‌اسم‌ آنجا را «یجر سهدوتا» گذاشت‌. ولی یعقوب ‌آنجا را «جلعید» نامید.

And Laban called it Jegar–sahadutha: but Jacob called it Galeed.

لابان ‌به‌ یعقوب‌ گفت‌: «این‌ پشته سنگها از امروز بین‌ من ‌و تو برای شهادت‌ است‌.» به‌ این‌ سبب است که ‌اسم ‌آنجا را جلعید گذاشتند.

And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed;

لابان ‌همچنین‌ گفت‌: «وقتی ما از یكدیگر جدا می‌شویم‌ خدا بین‌ ما نظارت‌ كند.» پس‌ آنجا را مصفه‌ هم ‌نامیدند.

And Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.

لابان ‌به ‌سخنان ‌خود ادامه ‌داد و گفت‌: «اگر دخترهای مرا اذیّت ‌كنی و یا به‌ غیراز آنها زن‌ دیگری بگیری‌، هرچند كه ‌من‌ ندانم‌، ولی بدان ‌كه ‌خدا بین ‌ما ناظر است‌.

If thou shalt afflict my daughters, or if thou shalt take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee.

این‌ ستونی كه‌ بین ‌تو و خودم‌ درست‌ كردم ‌و این ‌تپّه ‌سنگهایی كه ‌به ‌عنوان ‌شاهد درست ‌كردیم‌،

And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have cast betwixt me and thee;

هردوی آنها شهادت ‌خواهند داد. من ‌هرگز از این‌ ستون‌ رد نخواهم‌ شد تا به‌ تو حمله‌ كنم‌ و تو هم‌ هرگز از این ‌ستون‌ و یا تپّه‌ سنگها برای حمله ‌به‌ من‌ عبور نخواهی كرد.

This heap be witness, and this pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm.

خدای ابراهیم ‌و خدای ناحور بین‌ ما داوری خواهد كرد.» سپس‌ یعقوب‌ به‌ نام ‌خدایی كه‌ پدرش‌ اسحاق‌ او را پرستش ‌می‌كرد قسم ‌یاد كرد كه ‌این‌ پیمان‌ را حفظ ‌خواهد كرد.

The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge betwixt us. And Jacob sware by the fear of his father Isaac.

آنگاه ‌یعقوب ‌بر روی آن‌ كوه‌ قربانی كرد و یاران ‌خود را برای غذا خوردن ‌دعوت ‌كرد. بعد از خوردن‌ غذا آنها شب‌ را در كوه ‌به‌ سر بردند.

Then Jacob offered sacrifice upon the mount, and called his brethren to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mount.

روز بعد صبح‌ زود، لابان‌ نوه‌ها و دخترهای خود را بوسید و برای آنها دعای خیر كرد و به ‌طرف ‌خانه‌اش ‌رفت‌.

And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them: and Laban departed, and returned unto his place.
