Isaiah 48

اے یعقوب کے گھرانے، سنو! تم جو اسرائیل کہلاتے اور یہوداہ کے قبیلے کے ہو، دھیان دو! تم جو رب کے نام کی قَسم کھا کر اسرائیل کے خدا کو یاد کرتے ہو، اگرچہ تمہاری بات نہ سچائی، نہ انصاف پر مبنی ہے، غور کرو!

Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

ہاں توجہ دو، تم جو مُقدّس شہر کے لوگ کہلاتے اور اسرائیل کے خدا پر اعتماد کرتے ہو، سنو کہ اللہ جس کا نام رب الافواج ہے کیا فرماتا ہے۔

For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.

جو کچھ پیش آیا ہے اُس کا اعلان مَیں نے بڑی دیر پہلے کیا۔ میرے ہی منہ سے اُس کی پیش گوئی صادر ہوئی، مَیں ہی نے اُس کی اطلاع دی۔ پھر اچانک ہی مَیں اُسے عمل میں لایا اور وہ وقوع پذیر ہوا۔

I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.

مَیں جانتا تھا کہ تُو کتنا ضدی ہے۔ تیرے گلے کی نسیں لوہے جیسی بےلچک اور تیری پیشانی پیتل جیسی سخت ہے۔

Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

یہ جان کر مَیں نے بڑی دیر پہلے اِن باتوں کی پیش گوئی کی۔ اُن کے پیش آنے سے پہلے مَیں نے تجھے اُن کی خبر دی تاکہ تُو دعویٰ نہ کر سکے، ’میرے بُت نے یہ کچھ کیا، میرے تراشے اور ڈھالے گئے دیوتا نے اِس کا حکم دیا۔‘

I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.

اب جب تُو نے یہ سن لیا ہے تو سب کچھ پر غور کر۔ تُو کیوں اِن باتوں کو ماننے کے لئے تیار نہیں؟ اب سے مَیں تجھے نئی نئی باتیں بتاؤں گا، ایسی پوشیدہ باتیں جو تجھے اب تک معلوم نہ تھیں۔

Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.

یہ کسی قدیم زمانے میں وجود میں نہیں آئیں بلکہ ابھی ابھی آج ہی تیرے علم میں آئی ہیں۔ کیونکہ مَیں نہیں چاہتا تھا کہ تُو کہے، ’مجھے پہلے سے اِس کا علم تھا۔‘

They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.

چنانچہ نہ یہ باتیں تیرے کان تک پہنچی ہیں، نہ تُو اِن کا علم رکھتا ہے، بلکہ قدیم زمانے سے ہی تیرا کان یہ سن نہیں سکتا تھا۔ کیونکہ مَیں جانتا تھا کہ تُو سراسر بےوفا ہے، کہ پیدائش سے ہی نمک حرام کہلاتا ہے۔

Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.

توبھی مَیں اپنے نام کی خاطر اپنا غضب نازل کرنے سے باز رہتا، اپنی تمجید کی خاطر اپنے آپ کو تجھے نیست و نابود کرنے سے روکے رکھتا ہوں۔

For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

دیکھ، مَیں نے تجھے پاک صاف کر دیا ہے، لیکن چاندی کو صاف کرنے کی کٹھالی میں نہیں بلکہ مصیبت کی بھٹی میں۔ اُسی میں مَیں نے تجھے آزمایا ہے۔

Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

اپنی خاطر، ہاں اپنی ہی خاطر مَیں یہ سب کچھ کرتا ہوں، ایسا نہ ہو کہ میرے نام کی بےحرمتی ہو جائے۔ کیونکہ مَیں اجازت نہیں دوں گا کہ کسی اَور کو وہ جلال دیا جائے جس کا صرف مَیں حق دار ہوں۔

For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.

اے یعقوب کی اولاد، میری سن! اے میرے برگزیدہ اسرائیل، دھیان دے! مَیں ہی وہی ہوں۔ مَیں ہی اوّل و آخر ہوں۔

Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

میرے ہی ہاتھ نے زمین کی بنیاد رکھی، میرے ہی دہنے ہاتھ نے آسمان کو خیمے کی طرح تان لیا۔ جب مَیں آواز دیتا ہوں تو سب مل کر کھڑے ہو جاتے ہیں۔

Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

آؤ، سب جمع ہو کر سنو! بُتوں میں سے کس نے اِس کی پیش گوئی کی؟ کسی نے نہیں! جس آدمی کو رب پیار کرتا ہے وہ بابل کے خلاف اُس کی مرضی پوری کرے گا، بابلیوں پر اُس کی قوت کا اظہار کرے گا۔

All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.

مَیں، ہاں مَیں ہی نے یہ فرمایا۔ مَیں ہی اُسے بُلا کر یہاں لایا ہوں، اِس لئے وہ ضرور کامیاب ہو گا۔

I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

میرے قریب آ کر سنو! شروع سے مَیں نے علانیہ بات کی، جب سے یہ پیش آیا مَیں حاضر ہوں۔“ اور اب رب قادرِ مطلق اور اُس کے روح نے مجھے بھیجا ہے۔

Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

رب جو تیرا چھڑانے والا اور اسرائیل کا قدوس ہے فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں رب تیرا خدا ہوں۔ مَیں تجھے وہ کچھ سکھاتا ہوں جو مفید ہے اور تجھے اُن راہوں پر چلنے دیتا ہوں جن پر تجھے چلنا ہے۔

Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

کاش تُو میرے احکام پر دھیان دیتا! تب تیری سلامتی بہتے دریا جیسی اور تیری راست بازی سمندر کی موجوں جیسی ہوتی۔

O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

تیری اولاد ریت کی مانند ہوتی، تیرے پیٹ کا پھل ریت کے ذروں جیسا اَن گنت ہوتا۔ اِس کا امکان ہی نہ ہوتا کہ تیرا نام و نشان میرے سامنے سے مٹ جائے۔“

Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.

بابل سے نکل جاؤ! بابلیوں کے بیچ میں سے ہجرت کرو! خوشی کے نعرے لگا لگا کر اعلان کرو، دنیا کی انتہا تک خوش خبری پھیلاتے جاؤ کہ رب نے عوضانہ دے کر اپنے خادم یعقوب کو چھڑایا ہے۔

Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.

اُنہیں پیاس نہ لگی جب اُس نے اُنہیں ریگستان میں سے گزرنے دیا۔ اُس کے حکم پر پتھر میں سے پانی بہہ نکلا۔ جب اُس نے چٹان کو چیر ڈالا تو پانی پھوٹ نکلا۔

And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.

لیکن رب فرماتا ہے کہ بےدین سلامتی نہیں پائیں گے۔

There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.
