Esther 4

جب مردکی کو معلوم ہوا کہ کیا ہوا ہے تو اُس نے رنجش سے اپنے کپڑوں کو پھاڑ کر ٹاٹ کا لباس پہن لیا اور سر پر راکھ ڈال لی۔ پھر وہ نکل کر بلند آواز سے گریہ و زاری کرتے کرتے شہر میں سے گزرا۔

When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;

وہ شاہی صحن کے دروازے تک پہنچ گیا لیکن داخل نہ ہوا، کیونکہ ماتمی کپڑے پہن کر داخل ہونے کی اجازت نہیں تھی۔

And came even before the king's gate: for none might enter into the king's gate clothed with sackcloth.

سلطنت کے تمام صوبوں میں جہاں جہاں بادشاہ کا اعلان پہنچا وہاں یہودی خوب ماتم کرنے اور روزہ رکھ کر رونے اور گریہ و زاری کرنے لگے۔ بہت سے لوگ ٹاٹ کا لباس پہن کر راکھ میں لیٹ گئے۔

And in every province, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.

جب آستر کی نوکرانیوں اور خواجہ سراؤں نے آ کر اُسے اطلاع دی تو وہ سخت گھبرا گئی۔ اُس نے مردکی کو کپڑے بھیج دیئے جو وہ اپنے ماتمی کپڑوں کے بدلے پہن لے، لیکن اُس نے اُنہیں قبول نہ کیا۔

So Esther's maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not.

تب آستر نے ہتاک خواجہ سرا کو مردکی کے پاس بھیجا تاکہ وہ معلوم کرے کہ کیا ہوا ہے، مردکی ایسی حرکتیں کیوں کر رہا ہے۔ (بادشاہ نے ہتاک کو آستر کی خدمت کرنے کی ذمہ داری دی تھی۔)

Then called Esther for Hatach, one of the king's chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was.

ہتاک شاہی صحن کے دروازے سے نکل کر مردکی کے پاس آیا جو اب تک ساتھ والے چوک میں تھا۔

So Hatach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king's gate.

مردکی نے اُسے ہامان کا پورا منصوبہ سنا کر یہ بھی بتایا کہ ہامان نے یہودیوں کو ہلاک کرنے کے لئے شاہی خزانے کو کتنے پیسے دینے کا وعدہ کیا ہے۔

And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king's treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.

اِس کے علاوہ مردکی نے خواجہ سرا کو اُس شاہی فرمان کی کاپی دی جو سوسن میں صادر ہوا تھا اور جس میں یہودیوں کو نیست و نابود کر نے کا اعلان کیا گیا تھا۔ اُس نے گزارش کی، ”یہ اعلان آستر کو دکھا کر اُنہیں تمام حالات سے باخبر کر دیں۔ اُنہیں ہدایت دیں کہ بادشاہ کے حضور جائیں اور اُس سے التجا کر کے اپنی قوم کی سفارش کریں۔“

Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.

ہتاک واپس آیا اور مردکی کی باتوں کی خبر دی۔

And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.

یہ سن کر آستر نے اُسے دوبارہ مردکی کے پاس بھیجا تاکہ اُسے بتائے،

Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;

”بادشاہ کے تمام ملازم بلکہ صوبوں کے تمام باشندے جانتے ہیں کہ جو بھی بُلائے بغیر محل کے اندرونی صحن میں بادشاہ کے پاس آئے اُسے سزائے موت دی جائے گی، خواہ وہ مرد ہو یا عورت۔ وہ صرف اِس صورت میں بچ جائے گا کہ بادشاہ سونے کا اپنا عصا اُس کی طرف بڑھائے۔ بات یہ بھی ہے کہ بادشاہ کو مجھے بُلائے 30 دن ہو گئے ہیں۔“

All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.

آستر کا پیغام سن کر

And they told to Mordecai Esther's words.

مردکی نے جواب واپس بھیجا، ”یہ نہ سوچنا کہ مَیں شاہی محل میں رہتی ہوں، اِس لئے گو دیگر تمام یہودی ہلاک ہو جائیں مَیں بچ جاؤں گی۔

Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.

اگر آپ اِس وقت خاموش رہیں گی تو یہودی کہیں اَور سے رِہائی اور چھٹکارا پا لیں گے جبکہ آپ اور آپ کے باپ کا گھرانا ہلاک ہو جائیں گے۔ کیا پتا ہے، شاید آپ اِسی لئے ملکہ بن گئی ہیں کہ ایسے موقع پر یہودیوں کی مدد کریں۔“

For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

آستر نے مردکی کو جواب بھیجا،

Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,

”ٹھیک ہے، پھر جائیں اور سوسن میں رہنے والے تمام یہودیوں کو جمع کریں۔ میرے لئے روزہ رکھ کر تین دن اور تین رات نہ کچھ کھائیں، نہ پئیں۔ مَیں بھی اپنی نوکرانیوں کے ساتھ مل کر روزہ رکھوں گی۔ اِس کے بعد بادشاہ کے پاس جاؤں گی، گو یہ قانون کے خلاف ہے۔ اگر مرنا ہے تو مر ہی جاؤں گی۔“

Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

تب مردکی چلا گیا اور ویسا ہی کیا جیسا آستر نے اُسے ہدایت کی تھی۔

So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.
