I Chronicles 21

ایک دن ابلیس اسرائیل کے خلاف اُٹھ کھڑا ہوا اور داؤد کو اسرائیل کی مردم شماری کرنے پر اُکسایا۔

And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

داؤد نے یوآب اور قوم کے بزرگوں کو حکم دیا، ”دان سے لے کر بیرسبع تک اسرائیل کے تمام قبیلوں میں سے گزرتے ہوئے جنگ کرنے کے قابل مردوں کو گن لیں۔ پھر واپس آ کر مجھے اطلاع دیں تاکہ معلوم ہو جائے کہ اُن کی کُل تعداد کیا ہے۔“

And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beer–sheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it.

لیکن یوآب نے اعتراض کیا، ”اے بادشاہ میرے آقا، کاش رب اپنے فوجیوں کی تعداد سَو گُنا بڑھا دے۔ کیونکہ یہ تو سب آپ کے خادم ہیں۔ لیکن میرے آقا اُن کی مردم شماری کیوں کرنا چاہتے ہیں؟ اسرائیل آپ کے سبب سے کیوں قصوروار ٹھہرے؟“

And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?

لیکن بادشاہ یوآب کے اعتراضات کے باوجود اپنی بات پر ڈٹا رہا۔ چنانچہ یوآب دربار سے روانہ ہوا اور پورے اسرائیل میں سے گزر کر اُس کی مردم شماری کی۔ اِس کے بعد وہ یروشلم واپس آ گیا۔

Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.

وہاں اُس نے داؤد کو مردم شماری کی پوری رپورٹ پیش کی۔ اسرائیل میں 11,00,000 تلوار چلانے کے قابل افراد تھے جبکہ یہوداہ کے 4,70,000 مرد تھے۔

And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.

حالانکہ یوآب نے لاوی اور بن یمین کے قبیلوں کو مردم شماری میں شامل نہیں کیا تھا، کیونکہ اُسے یہ کام کرنے سے گھن آتی تھی۔

But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king's word was abominable to Joab.

اللہ کو داؤد کی یہ حرکت بُری لگی، اِس لئے اُس نے اسرائیل کو سزا دی۔

And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel.

تب داؤد نے اللہ سے دعا کی، ”مجھ سے سنگین گناہ سرزد ہوا ہے۔ اب اپنے خادم کا قصور معاف کر۔ مجھ سے بڑی حماقت ہوئی ہے۔“

And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

تب رب داؤد کے غیب بین جاد نبی سے ہم کلام ہوا،

And the LORD spake unto Gad, David's seer, saying,

”داؤد کے پاس جا کر اُسے بتا دینا، ’رب تجھے تین سزائیں پیش کرتا ہے۔ اِن میں سے ایک چن لے‘۔“

Go and tell David, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

جاد داؤد کے پاس گیا اور اُسے رب کا پیغام سنا دیا۔ اُس نے سوال کیا، ”آپ کس سزا کو ترجیح دیتے ہیں؟

So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee

سات سال کے دوران کال؟ یا یہ کہ آپ کے دشمن تین ماہ تک آپ کو تلوار سے مار مار کر آپ کا تعاقب کرتے رہیں؟ یا یہ کہ رب کی تلوار اسرائیل میں سے گزرے؟ اِس صورت میں رب کا فرشتہ ملک میں وبا پھیلا کر پورے اسرائیل کا ستیاناس کر دے گا۔“

Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.

داؤد نے جواب دیا، ”ہائے مَیں کیا کہوں؟ مَیں بہت پریشان ہوں۔ لیکن آدمیوں کے ہاتھوں میں پڑ جانے کی نسبت بہتر ہے کہ ہم رب ہی کے ہاتھوں میں پڑ جائیں، کیونکہ اُس کا رحم نہایت عظیم ہے۔“

And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.

تب رب نے اسرائیل میں وبا پھیلنے دی۔ ملک میں 70,000 افراد ہلاک ہوئے۔

So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.

اللہ نے اپنے فرشتے کو یروشلم کو تباہ کرنے کے لئے بھی بھیجا۔ لیکن فرشتہ ابھی اِس کے لئے تیار ہو رہا تھا کہ رب نے لوگوں کی مصیبت کو دیکھ کر ترس کھایا اور تباہ کرنے والے فرشتے کو حکم دیا، ”بس کر! اب باز آ۔“ اُس وقت رب کا فرشتہ وہاں کھڑا تھا جہاں اُرنان یعنی ارَوناہ یبوسی اپنا اناج گاہتا تھا۔

And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

داؤد نے اپنی نگاہ اُٹھا کر رب کے فرشتے کو آسمان و زمین کے درمیان کھڑے دیکھا۔ اپنی تلوار میان سے کھینچ کر اُس نے اُسے یروشلم کی طرف بڑھایا تھا کہ داؤد بزرگوں سمیت منہ کے بل گر گیا۔ سب ٹاٹ کا لباس اوڑھے ہوئے تھے۔

And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

داؤد نے اللہ سے التماس کی، ”مَیں ہی نے حکم دیا کہ لڑنے کے قابل مردوں کو گنا جائے۔ مَیں ہی نے گناہ کیا ہے، یہ میرا ہی قصور ہے۔ اِن بھیڑوں سے کیا غلطی ہوئی ہے؟ اے رب میرے خدا، براہِ کرم اِن کو چھوڑ کر مجھے اور میرے خاندان کو سزا دے۔ اپنی قوم سے وبا دُور کر!“

And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.

پھر رب کے فرشتے نے جاد کی معرفت داؤد کو پیغام بھیجا، ”ارَوناہ یبوسی کی گاہنے کی جگہ کے پاس جا کر اُس پر رب کی قربان گاہ بنا لے۔“

Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

چنانچہ داؤد چڑھ کر گاہنے کی جگہ کے پاس آیا جس طرح رب نے جاد کی معرفت فرمایا تھا۔

And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spake in the name of the LORD.

اُس وقت ارَوناہ اپنے چار بیٹوں کے ساتھ گندم گاہ رہا تھا۔ جب اُس نے پیچھے دیکھا تو فرشتہ نظر آیا۔ ارَوناہ کے بیٹے بھاگ کر چھپ گئے۔

And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.

اِتنے میں داؤد آ پہنچا۔ اُسے دیکھتے ہی ارَوناہ گاہنے کی جگہ کو چھوڑ کر اُس سے ملنے گیا اور اُس کے سامنے اوندھے منہ جھک گیا۔

And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshingfloor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.

داؤد نے اُس سے کہا، ”مجھے اپنی گاہنے کی جگہ دے دیں تاکہ مَیں یہاں رب کے لئے قربان گاہ تعمیر کروں۔ کیونکہ یہ کرنے سے وبا رُک جائے گی۔ مجھے اِس کی پوری قیمت بتائیں۔“

Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.

ارَوناہ نے داؤد سے کہا، ”میرے آقا اور بادشاہ، اِسے لے کر وہ کچھ کریں جو آپ کو اچھا لگے۔ دیکھیں، مَیں آپ کو اپنے بَیلوں کو بھسم ہونے والی قربانیوں کے لئے دے دیتا ہوں۔ اناج کو گاہنے کا سامان قربان گاہ پر رکھ کر جلا دیں۔ میرا اناج غلہ کی نذر کے لئے حاضر ہے۔ مَیں خوشی سے آپ کو یہ سب کچھ دے دیتا ہوں۔“

And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.

لیکن داؤد بادشاہ نے انکار کیا، ”نہیں، مَیں ضرور ہر چیز کی پوری قیمت ادا کروں گا۔ جو آپ کی ہے اُسے مَیں لے کر رب کو پیش نہیں کروں گا، نہ مَیں ایسی کوئی بھسم ہونے والی قربانی چڑھاؤں گا جو مجھے مفت میں مل جائے۔“

And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.

چنانچہ داؤد نے ارَوناہ کو اُس جگہ کے لئے سونے کے 600 سِکے دے دیئے۔

So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.

اُس نے وہاں رب کی تعظیم میں قربان گاہ تعمیر کر کے اُس پر بھسم ہونے والی اور سلامتی کی قربانیاں چڑھائیں۔ جب اُس نے رب سے التماس کی تو رب نے اُس کی سنی اور جواب میں آسمان سے بھسم ہونے والی قربانی پر آگ بھیج دی۔

And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

پھر رب نے موت کے فرشتے کو حکم دیا، اور اُس نے اپنی تلوار کو دوبارہ میان میں ڈال دیا۔

And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof.

یوں داؤد نے جان لیا کہ رب نے ارَوناہ یبوسی کی گہنے کی جگہ پر میری سنی جب مَیں نے یہاں قربانیاں چڑھائیں۔

At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.

اُس وقت رب کا وہ مُقدّس خیمہ جو موسیٰ نے ریگستان میں بنوایا تھا جِبعون کی پہاڑی پر تھا۔ قربانیوں کو جلانے کی قربان گاہ بھی وہیں تھی۔

For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at Gibeon.

لیکن اب داؤد میں وہاں جا کر رب کے حضور اُس کی مرضی دریافت کرنے کی جرٲت نہ رہی، کیونکہ رب کے فرشتے کی تلوار کو دیکھ کر اُس پر اِتنی شدید دہشت طاری ہوئی کہ وہ جا ہی نہیں سکتا تھا۔

But David could not go before it to enquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
