I Timothy 1

Παυλος, αποστολος Ιησου Χριστου, κατ επιταγην Θεου του Σωτηρος ημων και Κυριου Ιησου Χριστου της ελπιδος ημων,

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

προς Τιμοθεον, το γνησιον τεκνον εις την πιστιν ειη χαρις, ελεος, ειρηνη απο Θεου Πατρος ημων και Χριστου Ιησου του Κυριου ημων.

Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

Καθως σε παρεκαλεσα απερχομενος εις Μακεδονιαν, να προσμεινης εν Εφεσω, δια να παραγγειλης εις τινας να μη ετεροδιδασκαλωσι

As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

μηδε να προσεχωσιν εις μυθους και γενεαλογιας απεραντους, αιτινες προξενουσι φιλονεικιας μαλλον παρα την εις την πιστιν οικοδομην του Θεου, ουτω πραττε

Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

το δε τελος της παραγγελιας ειναι αγαπη εκ καθαρας καρδιας και συνειδησεως αγαθης και πιστεως ανυποκριτου,

Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

απο των οποιων αποπλανηθεντες τινες εξετραπησαν εις ματαιολογιαν.

From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

Θελοντες να ηναι νομοδιδασκαλοι, ενω δεν νοουσιν ουτε οσα λεγουσιν ουτε περι τινων διισχυριζονται.

Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

Εξευρομεν δε οτι ο νομος ειναι καλος, εαν τις μεταχειριζηται αυτον νομιμως,

But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

γνωριζων τουτο, οτι ο νομος δεν ετεθη δια τον δικαιον, αλλα δια τους ανομους και ανυποτακτους, τους ασεβεις και αμαρτωλους, τους ανοσιους και βεβηλους, τους πατροκτονους και μητροκτονους, τους ανδροφονους,

Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

πορνους, αρσενοκοιτας, ανδραποδιστας, ψευστας, επιορκους, και ει τι αλλο αντιβαινει εις την υγιαινουσαν διδασκαλιαν,

For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

κατα το ευαγγελιον της δοξης του μακαριου Θεου, το οποιον εγω ενεπιστευθην.

According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

Και ευχαριστω τον ενδυναμωσαντα με Ιησουν Χριστον τον Κυριον ημων, οτι ενεκρινε πιστον και εταξεν εις την διακονιαν εμε,

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

τον προτερον οντα βλασφημον και διωκτην και υβριστην ηλεηθην ομως, διοτι αγνοων επραξα εν απιστια,

Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

αλλ υπερεπερισσευσεν η χαρις του Κυριου ημων μετα πιστεως και αγαπης της εν Χριστω Ιησου.

And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Πιστος ο λογος και πασης αποδοχης αξιος, οτι ο Ιησους Χριστος ηλθεν εις τον κοσμον δια να σωση τους αμαρτωλους, των οποιων πρωτος ειμαι εγω

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

αλλα δια τουτο ηλεηθην, δια να δειξη ο Ιησους Χριστος εις εμε πρωτον την πασαν μακροθυμιαν, εις παραδειγμα των μελλοντων να πιστευωσιν εις αυτον εις ζωην αιωνιον.

Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

εις δε τον βασιλεα των αιωνων, τον αφθαρτον, τον αορατον, τον μονον σοφον Θεον, ειη τιμη και δοξα εις τους αιωνας των αιωνων αμην.

Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Ταυτην την παραγγελιαν παραδιδω εις σε, τεκνον Τιμοθεε, κατα τας προγενομενας προφητειας περι σου, να στρατευης κατ αυτας την καλην στρατειαν,

This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

εχων πιστιν και αγαθην συνειδησιν, την οποιαν τινες αποβαλοντες εναυαγησαν εις την πιστιν

Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

εκ των οποιων ειναι ο Υμεναιος και Αλεξανδρος, τους οποιους παρεδωκα εις τον Σαταναν, δια να μαθωσι να μη βλασφημωσι.

Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
