I Timothy 2

Παρακαλω λοιπον πρωτον παντων να καμνητε δεησεις, προσευχας, παρακλησεις, ευχαριστιας υπερ παντων ανθρωπων,

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2:2

υπερ βασιλεων και παντων των οντων εν αξιωμασι, δια να διαγωμεν βιον αταραχον και ησυχιον εν παση ευσεβεια και σεμνοτητι.

For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

2:3

Διοτι τουτο ειναι καλον και ευπροσδεκτον ενωπιον του σωτηρος ημων Θεου,

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

2:4

οστις θελει να σωθωσι παντες οι ανθρωποι και να ελθωσιν εις επιγνωσιν της αληθειας.

Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

2:5

Διοτι ειναι εις Θεος, εις και μεσιτης Θεου και ανθρωπων, ανθρωπος Ιησους Χριστος,

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

2:6

οστις εδωκεν εαυτον αντιλυτρον υπερ παντων, μαρτυριαν γενομενην εν ωρισμενοις καιροις,

Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

2:7

εις το οποιον εταχθην εγω κηρυξ και αποστολος, αληθειαν λεγω εν Χριστω, δεν ψευδομαι, διδασκαλος των εθνων εις την πιστιν και εις την αληθειαν.

Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

2:8

Θελω λοιπον να προσευχωνται οι ανδρες εν παντι τοπω, υψονοντες καθαρας χειρας χωρις οργης και δισταγμου.

I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

2:9

Ωσαυτως και αι γυναικες με στολην σεμνην, με αιδω και σωφροσυνην να στολιζωσιν εαυτας, ουχι με πλεγματα η χρυσον η μαργαριτας η ενδυμασιαν πολυτελη,

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
