I Peter 2

Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
deponentes igitur omnem malitiam et omnem dolum et simulationes et invidias et omnes detractiones
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
sicut modo geniti infantes rationale sine dolo lac concupiscite ut in eo crescatis in salutem
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
si gustastis quoniam dulcis Dominus
To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
ad quem accedentes lapidem vivum ab hominibus quidem reprobatum a Deo autem electum honorificatum
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
et ipsi tamquam lapides vivi superaedificamini domus spiritalis sacerdotium sanctum offerre spiritales hostias acceptabiles Deo per Iesum Christum
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
propter quod continet in scriptura ecce pono in Sion lapidem summum angularem electum pretiosum et qui crediderit in eo non confundetur
Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
vobis igitur honor credentibus non credentibus autem lapis quem reprobaverunt aedificantes hic factus est in caput anguli
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
et lapis offensionis et petra scandali qui offendunt verbo nec credunt in quod et positi sunt
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
vos autem genus electum regale sacerdotium gens sancta populus adquisitionis ut virtutes adnuntietis eius qui de tenebris vos vocavit in admirabile lumen suum
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
qui aliquando non populus nunc autem populus Dei qui non consecuti misericordiam nunc autem misericordiam consecuti
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
carissimi obsecro tamquam advenas et peregrinos abstinere vos a carnalibus desideriis quae militant adversus animam
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
conversationem vestram inter gentes habentes bonam ut in eo quod detractant de vobis tamquam de malefactoribus ex bonis operibus considerantes glorificent Deum in die visitationis
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
subiecti estote omni humanae creaturae propter Dominum sive regi quasi praecellenti
Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
sive ducibus tamquam ab eo missis ad vindictam malefactorum laudem vero bonorum
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
quia sic est voluntas Dei ut benefacientes obmutescere faciatis inprudentium hominum ignorantiam
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
quasi liberi et non quasi velamen habentes malitiae libertatem sed sicut servi Dei
Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
omnes honorate fraternitatem diligite Deum timete regem honorificate
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
servi subditi in omni timore dominis non tantum bonis et modestis sed etiam discolis
For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
haec est enim gratia si propter conscientiam Dei sustinet quis tristitias patiens iniuste
For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
quae enim gloria est si peccantes et colaphizati suffertis sed si benefacientes et patientes sustinetis haec est gratia apud Deum
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
in hoc enim vocati estis quia et Christus passus est pro vobis vobis relinquens exemplum ut sequamini vestigia eius
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
qui peccatum non fecit nec inventus est dolus in ore ipsius
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
qui cum malediceretur non maledicebat cum pateretur non comminabatur tradebat autem iudicanti se iniuste
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
qui peccata nostra ipse pertulit in corpore suo super lignum ut peccatis mortui iustitiae viveremus cuius livore sanati estis
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
eratis enim sicut oves errantes sed conversi estis nunc ad pastorem et episcopum animarum vestrarum
