Zephaniah 3

Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city!

اُس سرکش، ناپاک اور ظالم شہر پر افسوس جو یروشلم کہلاتا ہے۔

She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God.

نہ وہ سنتا، نہ تربیت قبول کرتا ہے۔ نہ وہ رب پر بھروسا رکھتا، نہ اپنے خدا کے قریب آتا ہے۔

Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow.

جو بزرگ اُس کے بیچ میں ہیں وہ دہاڑتے ہوئے شیرببر ہیں۔ اُس کے قاضی شام کے وقت بھوکے پھرنے والے بھیڑیے ہیں جو طلوعِ صبح تک شکار کی ایک ہڈی تک نہیں چھوڑتے۔

Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.

اُس کے نبی گستاخ اور غدار ہیں۔ اُس کے امام مقدِس کی بےحرمتی اور شریعت سے زیادتی کرتے ہیں۔

The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.

لیکن رب بھی شہر کے بیچ میں ہے، اور وہ راست ہے، وہ بےانصافی نہیں کرتا۔ صبح بہ صبح وہ اپنا انصاف قائم رکھتا ہے، ہم کبھی اُس سے محروم نہیں رہتے۔ لیکن بےدین شرم سے واقف ہی نہیں ہوتا۔

I have cut off the nations: their towers are desolate; I made their streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں نے قوموں کو نیست و نابود کر دیا ہے۔ اُن کے قلعے تباہ، اُن کی گلیاں سنسان ہیں۔ اب اُن میں سے کوئی نہیں گزرتا۔ اُن کے شہر اِتنے برباد ہیں کہ کوئی بھی اُن میں نہیں رہتا۔

I said, Surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut off, howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.

مَیں بولا، ’بےشک یروشلم میرا خوف مان کر میری تربیت قبول کرے گا۔ کیونکہ کیا ضرورت ہے کہ اُس کی رہائش گاہ مٹ جائے اور میری تمام سزائیں اُس پر نازل ہو جائیں۔‘ لیکن اُس کے باشندے مزید جوش کے ساتھ اپنی بُری حرکتوں میں لگ گئے۔“

Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

چنانچہ رب فرماتا ہے، ”اب میرے انتظار میں رہو، اُس دن کے انتظار میں جب مَیں شکار کرنے کے لئے اُٹھوں گا ۔ کیونکہ مَیں نے اقوام کو جمع کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے۔ مَیں ممالک کو اکٹھا کر کے اُن پر اپنا غضب نازل کروں گا۔ تب وہ میرے سخت قہر کا نشانہ بن جائیں گے، پوری دنیا میری غیرت کی آگ سے بھسم ہو جائے گی۔

For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.

لیکن اِس کے بعد مَیں اقوام کے ہونٹوں کو پاک صاف کروں گا تاکہ وہ آئندہ رب کا نام لے کر عبادت کریں، کہ وہ شانہ بہ شانہ کھڑی ہو کر میری خدمت کریں۔

From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering.

اُس وقت میرے پرستار، میری منتشر ہوئی قوم ایتھوپیا کے دریاؤں کے پار سے بھی آ کر مجھے قربانیاں پیش کرے گی۔

In that day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of thee them that rejoice in thy pride, and thou shalt no more be haughty because of my holy mountain.

اے صیون بیٹی، اُس دن تجھے شرم سار نہیں ہونا پڑے گا حالانکہ تُو نے مجھ سے بےوفا ہو کر نہایت بُرے کام کئے ہیں۔ کیونکہ مَیں تیرے درمیان سے تیرے متکبر شیخی بازوں کو نکالوں گا۔ آئندہ تُو میرے مُقدّس پہاڑ پر مغرور نہیں ہو گی۔

I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the LORD.

مَیں تجھ میں صرف قوم کے غریبوں اور ضرورت مندوں کو چھوڑوں گا، اُن سب کو جو رب کے نام میں پناہ لیں گے۔

The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

اسرائیل کا یہ بچا ہوا حصہ نہ غلط کام کرے گا، نہ جھوٹ بولے گا۔ اُن کی زبان پر فریب نہیں ہو گا۔ تب وہ بھیڑوں کی طرح چراگاہ میں چریں گے اور آرام کریں گے۔ اُنہیں ڈرا نے والا کوئی نہیں ہو گا۔“

Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.

اے صیون بیٹی، خوشی کے نعرے لگا! اے اسرائیل، خوشی منا! اے یروشلم بیٹی، شادمان ہو، پورے دل سے شادیانہ بجا۔

The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.

کیونکہ رب نے تیری سزا مٹا کر تیرے دشمن کو بھگا دیا ہے۔ رب جو اسرائیل کا بادشاہ ہے تیرے درمیان ہی ہے۔ آئندہ تجھے کسی نقصان سے ڈرنے کی ضرورت نہیں ہو گی۔

In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack.

اُس دن لوگ یروشلم سے کہیں گے، ”اے صیون، مت ڈرنا! حوصلہ نہ ہار، تیرے ہاتھ ڈھیلے نہ ہوں۔

The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

رب تیرا خدا تیرے درمیان ہے، تیرا پہلوان تجھے نجات دے گا۔ وہ شادمان ہو کر تیری خوشی منائے گا۔ اُس کی محبت تیرے قصور کا ذکر ہی نہیں کرے گی بلکہ وہ تجھ سے انتہائی خوش ہو کر شادیانہ بجائے گا۔“

I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں عید کو ترک کرنے والوں کو تجھ سے دُور کر دوں گا، کیونکہ وہ تیری رُسوائی کا باعث تھے۔

Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.

مَیں اُن سے بھی نپٹ لوں گا جو تجھے کچل رہے ہیں۔ جو لنگڑاتا ہے اُسے مَیں بچاؤں گا، جو منتشر ہیں اُنہیں جمع کروں گا۔ جس ملک میں بھی اُن کی رُسوائی ہوئی وہاں مَیں اُن کی تعریف اور احترام کراؤں گا۔

At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the LORD.

اُس وقت مَیں تمہیں جمع کر کے وطن میں واپس لاؤں گا۔ مَیں تمہارے دیکھتے دیکھتے تمہیں بحال کروں گا اور دنیا کی تمام اقوام میں تمہاری تعریف اور احترام کراؤں گا۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔
