Zephaniah 2

Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;

اے بےحیا قوم، جمع ہو کر حاضری کے لئے کھڑی ہو جا،

Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD'S anger come upon you.

اِس سے پہلے کہ مقررہ دن آ کر تجھے بھوسے کی طرح اُڑا لے جائے۔ ایسا نہ ہو کہ تم رب کے سخت غصے کا نشانہ بن جاؤ، کہ رب کا غضب ناک دن تم پر نازل ہو جائے۔

Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.

اے ملک کے تمام فروتنو، اے اُس کے احکام پر عمل کرنے والو، رب کو تلاش کرو! راست بازی کے طالب ہو، حلیمی ڈھونڈو۔ شاید تم اُس دن رب کے غضب سے بچ جاؤ ۔

For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

غزہ کو چھوڑ دیا جائے گا، اسقلون ویران و سنسان ہو جائے گا۔ دوپہر کے وقت ہی اشدود کے باشندوں کو نکالا جائے گا، عقرون کو جڑ سے اُکھاڑا جائے گا۔

Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

کریتے سے آئی ہوئی قوم پر افسوس جو ساحلی علاقے میں رہتی ہے۔ کیونکہ رب تمہارے بارے میں فرماتا ہے، ”اے فلستیوں کی سرزمین، اے ملکِ کنعان، مَیں تجھے تباہ کروں گا، ایک بھی باقی نہیں رہے گا۔“

And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.

تب یہ ساحلی علاقہ چَرانے کے لئے استعمال ہو گا، اور چرواہے اُس میں اپنی بھیڑبکریوں کے لئے باڑے بنا لیں گے۔

And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.

ملک یہوداہ کے گھرانے کے بچے ہوؤں کے قبضے میں آئے گا، اور وہی وہاں چریں گے، وہی شام کے وقت اسقلون کے گھروں میں آرام کریں گے۔ کیونکہ رب اُن کا خدا اُن کی دیکھ بھال کرے گا، وہی اُنہیں بحال کرے گا۔

I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.

”مَیں نے موآبیوں کی لعن طعن اور عمونیوں کی اہانت پر غور کیا ہے۔ اُنہوں نے میری قوم کی رُسوائی اور اُس کے ملک کے خلاف بڑی بڑی باتیں کی ہیں۔“

Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.

اِس لئے رب الافواج جو اسرائیل کا خدا ہے فرماتا ہے، ”میری حیات کی قَسم، موآب اور عمون کے علاقے سدوم اور عمورہ کی مانند بن جائیں گے۔ اُن میں خود رَو پودے اور نمک کے گڑھے ہی پائے جائیں گے، اور وہ ابد تک ویران و سنسان رہیں گے۔ تب میری قوم کا بچا ہوا حصہ اُنہیں لُوٹ کر اُن کی زمین پر قبضہ کر لے گا۔“

This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts.

یہی اُن کے تکبر کا اجر ہو گا۔ کیونکہ اُنہوں نے رب الافواج کی قوم کو لعن طعن کر کے قوم کے خلاف بڑی بڑی باتیں کی ہیں۔

The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.

جب رب ملک کے تمام دیوتاؤں کو تباہ کرے گا تو اُن کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو جائیں گے۔ تمام ساحلی علاقوں کی اقوام اُس کے سامنے جھک جائیں گی، ہر ایک اپنے اپنے مقام پر اُسے سجدہ کرے گا۔

Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اے ایتھوپیا کے باشندو، میری تلوار تمہیں بھی مار ڈالے گی۔“

And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.

وہ اپنا ہاتھ شمال کی طرف بھی بڑھا کر اسور کو تباہ کرے گا۔ نینوہ ویران و سنسان ہو کر ریگستان جیسا خشک ہو جائے گا۔

And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.

شہر کے بیچ میں ریوڑ اور دیگر کئی قسم کے جانور آرام کریں گے۔ دشتی اُلّو اور خارپُشت اُس کے ٹوٹے پھوٹے ستونوں میں بسیرا کریں گے، اور جنگلی جانوروں کی چیخیں کھڑکیوں میں سے گونجیں گی۔ گھروں کی دہلیزیں ملبے کے ڈھیروں میں چھپی رہیں گی جبکہ اُن کی دیودار کی لکڑی ہر گزرنے والے کو دکھائی دے گی۔

This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

یہی اُس خوش باش شہر کا انجام ہو گا جو پہلے اِتنی حفاظت سے بستا تھا اور جو دل میں کہتا تھا، ”مَیں ہی ہوں، میرے سوا کوئی اَور ہے ہی نہیں۔“ آئندہ وہ ریگستان ہو گا، ایسی جگہ جہاں جانور ہی آرام کریں گے۔ ہر مسافر ”توبہ توبہ“ کہہ کر وہاں سے گزرے گا۔
