Isaiah 41

Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.

”اے جزیرو، خاموش رہ کر میری بات سنو! اقوام از سرِ نو تقویت پائیں اور میرے حضور آئیں، پھر بات کریں۔ آؤ، ہم ایک دوسرے سے مل کر عدالت میں حاضر ہو جائیں!

Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

کون اُس آدمی کو جگا کر مشرق سے لایا ہے جس کے دامن میں انصاف ہے؟ کون دیگر قوموں کو اِس شخص کے حوالے کر کے بادشاہوں کو خاک میں ملاتا ہے؟ اُس کی تلوار سے وہ گرد ہو جاتے ہیں، اُس کی کمان سے لوگ ہَوا میں بھوسے کی طرح اُڑ کر بکھر جاتے ہیں۔

He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.

وہ اُن کا تعاقب کر کے صحیح سلامت آگے نکلتا ہے، بھاگتے ہوئے اُس کے پاؤں راستے کو نہیں چھوتے۔

Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

کس نے یہ سب کچھ کیا، کس نے یہ انجام دیا؟ اُسی نے جو ابتدا ہی سے نسلوں کو بُلاتا آیا ہے۔ مَیں، رب اوّل ہوں، اور آخر میں آنے والوں کے ساتھ بھی مَیں وہی ہوں۔“

The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

جزیرے یہ دیکھ کر ڈر گئے، دنیا کے دُوردراز علاقے کانپ اُٹھے ہیں۔ وہ قریب آتے ہوئے

They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.

ایک دوسرے کو سہارا دے کر کہتے ہیں، ”حوصلہ رکھ!“

So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.

دست کار سنار کی حوصلہ افزائی کرتا ہے، اور جو بُت کی ناہمواریوں کو ہتھوڑے سے ٹھیک کرتا ہے وہ اہرن پر کام کرنے والے کی ہمت بڑھاتا اور ٹانکے کا معائنہ کر کے کہتا ہے، ”اب ٹھیک ہے!“ پھر مل کر بُت کو کیلوں سے مضبوط کرتے ہیں تاکہ ہلے نہ۔

But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

”لیکن تُو میرے خادم اسرائیل، تُو فرق ہے۔ اے یعقوب کی قوم، مَیں نے تجھے چن لیا، اور تُو میرے دوست ابراہیم کی اولاد ہے۔

Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

مَیں تجھے پکڑ کر دنیا کی انتہا سے لایا، اُس کے دُوردراز کونوں سے بُلایا۔ مَیں نے فرمایا، ’تُو میرا خادم ہے۔‘ مَیں نے تجھے رد نہیں کیا بلکہ تجھے چن لیا ہے۔

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

چنانچہ مت ڈر، کیونکہ مَیں تیرے ساتھ ہوں۔ دہشت مت کھا، کیونکہ مَیں تیرا خدا ہوں۔ مَیں تجھے مضبوط کرتا، تیری مدد کرتا، تجھے اپنے دہنے ہاتھ کے انصاف سے قائم رکھتا ہوں۔

Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

دیکھ، جتنے بھی تیرے خلاف طیش میں آ گئے ہیں وہ سب شرمندہ ہو جائیں گے، اُن کا منہ کالا ہو جائے گا۔ تجھ سے جھگڑنے والے ہیچ ہی ثابت ہو کر ہلاک ہو جائیں گے۔

Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

تب تُو اپنے مخالفوں کا پتا کرے گا لیکن اُن کا نام و نشان تک نہیں ملے گا۔ تجھ سے لڑنے والے ختم ہی ہوں گے، ایسا ہی لگے گا کہ وہ کبھی تھے نہیں۔

For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

کیونکہ مَیں رب تیرا خدا ہوں۔ مَیں تیرے دہنے ہاتھ کو پکڑ کر تجھے بتاتا ہوں، ’مت ڈرنا، مَیں ہی تیری مدد کرتا ہوں۔‘

Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

اے کیڑے یعقوب مت ڈر، اے چھوٹی قوم اسرائیل خوف مت کھا۔ کیونکہ مَیں ہی تیری مدد کروں گا، اور جو عوضانہ دے کر تجھے چھڑا رہا ہے وہ اسرائیل کا قدوس ہے۔“ یہ ہے رب کا فرمان۔

Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

”میرے ہاتھ سے تُو گاہنے کا نیا اور متعدد تیز نوکیں رکھنے والا آلہ بنے گا۔ تب تُو پہاڑوں کو گاہ کر ریزہ ریزہ کر دے گا، اور پہاڑیاں بھوسے کی مانند ہو جائیں گی۔

Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

تُو اُنہیں اُچھال اُچھال کر اُڑائے گا تو ہَوا اُنہیں لے جائے گی، آندھی اُنہیں دُور تک بکھیر دے گی۔ لیکن تُو رب کی خوشی منائے گا اور اسرائیل کے قدوس پر فخر کرے گا۔

When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

غریب اور ضرورت مند پانی کی تلاش میں ہیں، لیکن بےفائدہ، اُن کی زبانیں پیاس کے مارے خشک ہو گئی ہیں۔ لیکن مَیں، رب اُن کی سنوں گا، مَیں جو اسرائیل کا خدا ہوں اُنہیں ترک نہیں کروں گا۔

I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

مَیں بنجر بلندیوں پر ندیاں جاری کروں گا اور وادیوں میں چشمے پھوٹنے دوں گا۔ مَیں ریگستان کو جوہڑ میں اور سوکھی سوکھی زمین کو پانی کے سوتوں میں بدل دوں گا۔

I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:

میرے ہاتھ سے ریگستان میں دیودار، کیکر، مہندی اور زیتون کے درخت لگیں گے، بیابان میں جونیپر، صنوبر اور سرو کے درخت مل کر اُگیں گے۔

That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

مَیں یہ اِس لئے کروں گا کہ لوگ دھیان دے کر جان لیں کہ رب کے ہاتھ نے یہ سب کچھ کیا ہے، کہ اسرائیل کے قدوس نے یہ پیدا کیا ہے۔“

Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

رب جو یعقوب کا بادشاہ ہے فرماتا ہے، ”آؤ، عدالت میں اپنا معاملہ پیش کرو، اپنے دلائل بیان کرو۔

Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

آؤ، اپنے بُتوں کو لے آؤ تاکہ وہ ہمیں بتائیں کہ کیا کیا پیش آنا ہے۔ ماضی میں کیا کیا ہوا؟ بتاؤ، تاکہ ہم دھیان دیں۔ یا ہمیں مستقبل کی باتیں سناؤ،

Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

وہ کچھ جو آنے والے دنوں میں ہو گا، تاکہ ہمیں معلوم ہو جائے کہ تم دیوتا ہو۔ کم از کم کچھ نہ کچھ کرو، خواہ اچھا ہو یا بُرا، تاکہ ہم گھبرا کر ڈر جائیں۔

Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

تم تو کچھ بھی نہیں ہو، اور تمہارا کام بھی بےکار ہے۔ جو تمہیں چن لیتا ہے وہ قابلِ گھن ہے۔

I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

اب مَیں نے شمال سے ایک آدمی کو جگا دیا ہے، اور وہ میرا نام لے کر مشرق سے آ رہا ہے۔ یہ شخص حکمرانوں کو مٹی کی طرح کچل دیتا ہے، اُنہیں گارے کو نرم کرنے والے کمہار کی طرح روند دیتا ہے۔

Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.

کس نے ابتدا سے اِس کا اعلان کیا تاکہ ہمیں علم ہو؟ کس نے پہلے سے اِس کی پیش گوئی کی تاکہ ہم کہیں، ’اُس نے بالکل صحیح کہا ہے‘؟ کوئی نہیں تھا جس نے پہلے سے اِس کا اعلان کر کے اِس کی پیش گوئی کی۔ کوئی نہیں تھا جس نے تمہارے منہ سے اِس کے بارے میں ایک لفظ بھی سنا۔

The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

کس نے صیون کو پہلے بتا دیا، ’وہ دیکھو، تیرا سہارا آنے کو ہے!‘ مَیں ہی نے یہ فرمایا، مَیں ہی نے یروشلم کو خوش خبری کا پیغمبر عطا کیا۔

For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

لیکن جب مَیں اپنے ارد گرد دیکھتا ہوں تو کوئی نہیں ہے جو مجھے مشورہ دے، کوئی نہیں جو میرے سوال کا جواب دے۔

Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.

دیکھو، یہ سب دھوکا ہی دھوکا ہیں۔ اُن کے کام ہیچ اور اُن کے ڈھالے ہوئے مجسمے خالی ہَوا ہی ہیں۔
