Isaiah 42

Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

دیکھو، میرا خادم جسے مَیں قائم رکھتا ہوں، میرا برگزیدہ جو مجھے پسند ہے۔ مَیں اپنے روح کو اُس پر ڈالوں گا، اور وہ اقوام میں انصاف قائم کرے گا۔

He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.

وہ نہ تو چیخے گا، نہ چلّائے گا، گلیوں میں اُس کی آواز سنائی نہیں دے گی۔

A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.

نہ وہ کچلے ہوئے سرکنڈے کو توڑے گا، نہ بجھتی ہوئی بتی کو بجھائے گا۔ وفاداری سے وہ انصاف قائم کرے گا۔

He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

اور جب تک اُس نے دنیا میں انصاف قائم نہ کر لیا ہو تب تک نہ اُس کی بتی بجھے گی، نہ اُسے کچلا جائے گا۔ جزیرے اُس کی ہدایت سے اُمید رکھیں گے۔“

Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

رب خدا نے آسمان کو خلق کر کے خیمے کی طرح زمین کے اوپر تان لیا۔ اُسی نے زمین کو اور جو کچھ اُس میں سے پھوٹ نکلتا ہے تشکیل دیا، اور اُسی نے رُوئے زمین پر بسنے اور چلنے والوں میں دم پھونک کر جان ڈالی۔ اب یہی خدا اپنے خادم سے فرماتا ہے،

I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

”مَیں، رب نے انصاف سے تجھے بُلایا ہے۔ مَیں تیرے ہاتھ کو پکڑ کر تجھے محفوظ رکھوں گا۔ کیونکہ مَیں تجھے قوم کا عہد اور دیگر اقوام کی روشنی بنا دوں گا

To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

تاکہ تُو اندھوں کی آنکھیں کھولے، قیدیوں کو کوٹھڑی سے رِہا کرے اور تاریکی کی قید میں بسنے والوں کو چھٹکارا دے۔

I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

مَیں رب ہوں، یہی میرا نام ہے! مَیں برداشت نہیں کروں گا کہ جو جلال مجھے ملنا ہے وہ کسی اَور کو دے دیا جائے، کہ لوگ بُتوں کی تمجید کریں جبکہ اُنہیں میری تمجید کرنی چاہئے۔

Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

دیکھو، جس کی بھی پیش گوئی مَیں نے کی تھی وہ وقوع میں آیا ہے۔ اب مَیں نئی باتوں کا اعلان کرتا ہوں۔ اِس سے پہلے کہ وہ وجود میں آئیں مَیں اُنہیں تمہیں سنا دیتا ہوں۔“

Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.

رب کی تمجید میں گیت گاؤ، دنیا کی انتہا تک اُس کی مدح سرائی کرو! اے سمندر کے مسافرو اور جو کچھ اُس میں ہے، اُس کی ستائش کرو! اے جزیرو، اپنے باشندوں سمیت اُس کی تعریف کرو!

Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.

بیابان اور اُس کے قصبے خوشی کے نعرے لگائیں، جن آبادیوں میں قیدار بستا ہے وہ شادمان ہوں۔ سلع کے باشندے باغ باغ ہو کر پہاڑوں کی چوٹیوں پر زور سے شادیانہ بجائیں۔

Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare his praise in the islands.

سب رب کو جلال دیں اور جزیروں تک اُس کی تعریف پھیلائیں۔

The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.

رب سورمے کی طرح لڑنے کے لئے نکلے گا، فوجی کی طرح جوش میں آئے گا اور جنگ کے نعرے لگا لگا کر اپنے دشمنوں پر غالب آئے گا۔

I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.

وہ فرماتا ہے، ”مَیں بڑی دیر سے خاموش رہا ہوں۔ مَیں چپ رہا اور اپنے آپ کو روکتا رہا۔ لیکن اب مَیں دردِ زہ میں مبتلا عورت کی طرح کراہتا ہوں۔ میرا سانس پھول جاتا اور مَیں بےتابی سے ہانپتا رہتا ہوں۔

I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.

مَیں پہاڑوں اور پہاڑیوں کو تباہ کر کے اُن کی تمام ہریالی جُھلسا دوں گا۔ دریا خشک زمین بن جائیں گے، اور جوہڑ سوکھ جائیں گے۔

And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

مَیں اندھوں کو ایسی راہوں پر لے چلوں گا جن سے وہ واقف نہیں ہوں گے، غیرمانوس راستوں پر اُن کی راہنمائی کروں گا۔ اُن کے آگے مَیں اندھیرے کو روشن اور ناہموار زمین کو ہموار کروں گا۔ یہ سب کچھ مَیں سرانجام دوں گا، ایک بات بھی ادھوری نہیں رہ جائے گی۔

They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.

لیکن جو بُتوں پر بھروسا رکھ کر اُن سے کہتے ہیں، ’تم ہمارے دیوتا ہو‘ وہ سخت شرم کھا کر پیچھے ہٹ جائیں گے۔

Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

اے بہرو، سنو! اے اندھو، نظر اُٹھاؤ تاکہ دیکھ سکو!

Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD'S servant?

کون میرے خادم جیسا اندھا ہے؟ کون میرے پیغمبر جیسا بہرا ہے، اُس جیسا جسے مَیں بھیج رہا ہوں؟ گو مَیں نے اُس کے ساتھ عہد باندھا توبھی رب کے خادم جیسا اندھا اور نابینا کوئی نہیں ہے۔

Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.

گو تُو نے بہت کچھ دیکھا ہے تُو نے توجہ نہیں دی، گو تیرے کان ہر بات سن لیتے ہیں تُو سنتا نہیں۔“

The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

رب نے اپنی راستی کی خاطر اپنی شریعت کی عظمت اور جلال کو بڑھایا ہے، کیونکہ یہ اُس کی مرضی تھی۔

But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.

لیکن اب اُس کی قوم کو غارت کیا گیا، سب کچھ لُوٹ لیا گیا ہے۔ سب کے سب گڑھوں میں جکڑے یا جیلوں میں چھپائے ہوئے ہیں۔ وہ لُوٹ کا مال بن گئے ہیں، اور کوئی نہیں ہے جو اُنہیں بچائے۔ اُنہیں چھین لیا گیا ہے، اور کوئی نہیں ہے جو کہے، ”اُنہیں واپس کرو!“

Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?

کاش تم میں سے کوئی دھیان دے، کوئی آئندہ کے لئے توجہ دے۔

Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.

سوچ لو! کس نے اجازت دی کہ یعقوب کی اولاد کو غارت کیا جائے؟ کس نے اسرائیل کو لٹیروں کے حوالے کر دیا؟ کیا یہ رب کی طرف سے نہیں ہوا، جس کے خلاف ہم نے گناہ کیا ہے؟ لوگ تو اُس کی راہوں پر چلنا ہی نہیں چاہتے تھے، وہ اُس کی شریعت کے تابع رہنے کے لئے تیار ہی نہ تھے۔

Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.

اِسی وجہ سے اُس نے اُن پر اپنا سخت غضب نازل کیا، اُنہیں شدید جنگ کی زد میں آنے دیا۔ لیکن افسوس، گو آگ نے قوم کو گھیر کر جُھلسا دیا تاہم اُسے سمجھ نہیں آئی، گو وہ بھسم ہوئی توبھی اُس نے دل سے سبق نہیں سیکھا۔
