II Kings 17

In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.

ہوسیع بن ایلہ یہوداہ کے بادشاہ آخز کی حکومت کے 12ویں سال میں اسرائیل کا بادشاہ بنا۔ سامریہ اُس کا دار الحکومت رہا، اور اُس کی حکومت کا دورانیہ 9 سال تھا۔

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.

ہوسیع کا چال چلن رب کو ناپسند تھا، لیکن اسرائیل کے اُن بادشاہوں کی نسبت جو اُس سے پہلے تھے وہ کچھ بہتر تھا۔

Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.

ایک دن اسور کے بادشاہ سلمنسر نے اسرائیل پر حملہ کیا۔ تب ہوسیع شکست مان کر اُس کے تابع ہو گیا۔ اُسے اسور کو خراج ادا کرنا پڑا۔

And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.

لیکن چند سال کے بعد وہ سرکش ہو گیا۔ اُس نے خراج کا سالانہ سلسلہ بند کر کے اپنے سفیروں کو مصر کے بادشاہ سو کے پاس بھیجا تاکہ اُس سے مدد حاصل کرے۔ جب اسور کے بادشاہ کو پتا چلا تو اُس نے اُسے پکڑ کر جیل میں ڈال دیا۔

Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.

سلمنسر پورے ملک میں سے گزر کر سامریہ تک پہنچ گیا۔ تین سال تک اُسے شہر کا محاصرہ کرنا پڑا،

In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

لیکن آخرکار وہ ہوسیع کی حکومت کے نویں سال میں کامیاب ہوا اور شہر پر قبضہ کر کے اسرائیلیوں کو جلاوطن کر دیا۔ اُنہیں اسور لا کر اُس نے کچھ خلح کے علاقے میں، کچھ جوزان کے دریائے خابور کے کنارے پر اور کچھ مادیوں کے شہروں میں بسائے۔

For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

یہ سب کچھ اِس لئے ہوا کہ اسرائیلیوں نے رب اپنے خدا کا گناہ کیا تھا، حالانکہ وہ اُنہیں مصری بادشاہ فرعون کے قبضے سے رِہا کر کے مصر سے نکال لایا تھا۔ وہ دیگر معبودوں کی پوجا کرتے

And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

اور اُن قوموں کے رسم و رواج کی پیروی کرتے جن کو رب نے اُن کے آگے سے نکال دیا تھا۔ ساتھ ساتھ وہ اُن رسموں سے بھی لپٹے رہے جو اسرائیل کے بادشاہوں نے شروع کی تھیں۔

And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

اسرائیلیوں کو رب اپنے خدا کے خلاف بہت ترکیبیں سوجھیں جو ٹھیک نہیں تھیں۔ سب سے چھوٹی چوکی سے لے کر بڑے سے بڑے قلعہ بند شہر تک اُنہوں نے اپنے تمام شہروں کی اونچی جگہوں پر مندر بنائے۔

And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:

ہر پہاڑی کی چوٹی پر اور ہر گھنے درخت کے سائے میں اُنہوں نے پتھر کے اپنے دیوتاؤں کے ستون اور یسیرت دیوی کے کھمبے کھڑے کئے۔

And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:

ہر اونچی جگہ پر وہ بخور جلا دیتے تھے، بالکل اُن اقوام کی طرح جنہیں رب نے اُن کے آگے سے نکال دیا تھا۔ غرض اسرائیلیوں سے بہت سی ایسی شریر حرکتیں سرزد ہوئیں جن کو دیکھ کر رب کو غصہ آیا۔

For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.

وہ بُتوں کی پرستش کرتے رہے اگرچہ رب نے اِس سے منع کیا تھا۔

Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.

بار بار رب نے اپنے نبیوں اور غیب بینوں کو اسرائیل اور یہوداہ کے پاس بھیجا تھا تاکہ اُنہیں آگاہ کریں، ”اپنی شریر راہوں سے باز آؤ۔ میرے احکام اور قواعد کے تابع رہو۔ اُس پوری شریعت کی پیروی کرو جو مَیں نے تمہارے باپ دادا کو اپنے خادموں یعنی نبیوں کے وسیلے سے دے دی تھی۔“

Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.

لیکن وہ سننے کے لئے تیار نہیں تھے بلکہ اپنے باپ دادا کی طرح اَڑ گئے، کیونکہ وہ بھی رب اپنے خدا پر بھروسا نہیں کرتے تھے۔

And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.

اُنہوں نے اُس کے احکام اور اُس عہد کو رد کیا جو اُس نے اُن کے باپ دادا سے باندھا تھا۔ جب بھی اُس نے اُنہیں کسی بات سے آگاہ کیا تو اُنہوں نے اُسے حقیر جانا۔ بےکار بُتوں کی پیروی کرتے کرتے وہ خود بےکار ہو گئے۔ وہ گرد و نواح کی قوموں کے نمونے پر چل پڑے حالانکہ رب نے اِس سے منع کیا تھا۔

And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

رب اپنے خدا کے تمام احکام کو مسترد کر کے اُنہوں نے اپنے لئے بچھڑوں کے دو مجسمے ڈھال لئے اور یسیرت دیوی کا کھمبا کھڑا کر دیا۔ وہ سورج، چاند بلکہ آسمان کے پورے لشکر کے سامنے جھک گئے اور بعل دیوتا کی پرستش کرنے لگے۔

And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

اپنے بیٹے بیٹیوں کو اُنہوں نے اپنے بُتوں کے لئے قربان کر کے جلا دیا۔ نجومیوں سے مشورہ لینا اور جادوگری کرنا عام ہو گیا۔ غرض اُنہوں نے اپنے آپ کو بدی کے ہاتھ میں بیچ کر ایسا کام کیا جو رب کو ناپسند تھا اور جو اُسے غصہ دلاتا رہا۔

Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

تب رب کا غضب اسرائیل پر نازل ہوا، اور اُس نے اُنہیں اپنے حضور سے خارج کر دیا۔ صرف یہوداہ کا قبیلہ ملک میں باقی رہ گیا۔

Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

لیکن یہوداہ کے افراد بھی رب اپنے خدا کے احکام کے تابع رہنے کے لئے تیار نہیں تھے۔ وہ بھی اُن بُرے رسم و رواج کی پیروی کرتے رہے جو اسرائیل نے شروع کئے تھے۔

And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

پھر رب نے پوری کی پوری قوم کو رد کر دیا۔ اُنہیں تنگ کر کے وہ اُنہیں لٹیروں کے حوالے کرتا رہا، اور ایک دن اُس نے اُنہیں بھی اپنے حضور سے خارج کر دیا۔

For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.

رب نے خود اسرائیل کے شمالی قبیلوں کو داؤد کے گھرانے سے الگ کر دیا تھا، اور اُنہوں نے یرُبعام بن نباط کو اپنا بادشاہ بنا لیا تھا۔ لیکن یرُبعام نے اسرائیل کو ایک سنگین گناہ کرنے پر اُکسا کر رب کی پیروی کرنے سے دُور کئے رکھا۔

For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;

اسرائیلی یرُبعام کے بُرے نمونے پر چلتے رہے اور کبھی اِس سے باز نہ آئے۔

Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.

یہی وجہ ہے کہ جوکچھ رب نے اپنے خادموں یعنی نبیوں کی معرفت فرمایا تھا وہ پورا ہوا۔ اُس نے اُنہیں اپنے حضور سے خارج کر دیا، اور دشمن اُنہیں قیدی بنا کر اسور لے گیا جہاں وہ آج تک زندگی گزارتے ہیں۔

And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.

اسور کے بادشاہ نے بابل، کوتہ، عَوّا، حمات اور سِفروائم سے لوگوں کو اسرائیل میں لا کر سامریہ کے اسرائیلیوں سے خالی کئے گئے شہروں میں آباد کیا۔ یہ لوگ سامریہ پر قبضہ کر کے اُس کے شہروں میں بسنے لگے۔

And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.

لیکن آتے وقت وہ رب کی پرستش نہیں کرتے تھے، اِس لئے رب نے اُن کے درمیان شیرببر بھیج دیئے جنہوں نے کئی ایک کو پھاڑ ڈالا۔

Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.

اسور کے بادشاہ کو اطلاع دی گئی، ”جن لوگوں کو آپ نے جلاوطن کر کے سامریہ کے شہروں میں آباد کیا ہے وہ نہیں جانتے کہ اُس ملک کا دیوتا کن کن باتوں کا تقاضا کرتا ہے۔ نتیجے میں اُس نے اُن کے درمیان شیرببر بھیج دیئے ہیں جو اُنہیں پھاڑ رہے ہیں۔ اور وجہ یہی ہے کہ وہ اُس کی صحیح پوجا کرنے سے واقف نہیں ہیں۔“

Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.

یہ سن کر اسور کے بادشاہ نے حکم دیا، ”سامریہ سے یہاں لائے گئے اماموں میں سے ایک کو چن لو جو اپنے وطن لوٹ کر وہاں دوبارہ آباد ہو جائے اور لوگوں کو سکھائے کہ اُس ملک کا دیوتا اپنی پوجا کے لئے کن کن باتوں کا تقاضا کرتا ہے۔“

Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Beth–el, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.

تب ایک امام جلاوطنی سے واپس آیا۔ بیت ایل میں آباد ہو کر اُس نے نئے باشندوں کو سکھایا کہ رب کی مناسب عبادت کس طرح کی جاتی ہے۔

Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.

لیکن ساتھ ساتھ وہ اپنے ذاتی دیوتاؤں کی پوجا بھی کرتے رہے۔ شہر بہ شہر ہر قوم نے اپنے اپنے بُت بنا کر اُن تمام اونچی جگہوں کے مندروں میں کھڑے کئے جو سامریہ کے لوگوں نے بنا چھوڑے تھے۔

And the men of Babylon made Succoth–benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,

بابل کے باشندوں نے سُکات بنات کے بُت، کوتہ کے لوگوں نے نیرگل کے مجسمے، حمات والوں نے اسیما کے بُت

And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.

اور عَوّا کے لوگوں نے نبحاز اور ترتاق کے مجسمے کھڑے کئے۔ سِفروائم کے باشندے اپنے بچوں کو اپنے دیوتاؤں ادرمَّلِک اور عنمَّلِک کے لئے قربان کر کے جلا دیتے تھے۔

So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.

غرض سب رب کی پرستش کے ساتھ ساتھ اپنے دیوتاؤں کی پوجا بھی کرتے اور اپنے لوگوں میں سے مختلف قسم کے افراد کو چن کر پجاری مقرر کرتے تھے تاکہ وہ اونچی جگہوں کے مندروں کو سنبھالیں۔

They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.

وہ رب کی عبادت بھی کرتے اور ساتھ ساتھ اپنے دیوتاؤں کی اُن قوموں کے رواجوں کے مطابق عبادت بھی کرتے تھے جن میں سے اُنہیں یہاں لایا گیا تھا۔

Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

یہ سلسلہ آج تک جاری ہے۔ سامریہ کے باشندے اپنے اُن پرانے رواجوں کے مطابق زندگی گزارتے ہیں اور صرف رب کی پرستش کرنے کے لئے تیار نہیں ہوتے۔ وہ اُس کی ہدایات اور احکام کی پروا نہیں کرتے اور اُس شریعت کی پیروی نہیں کرتے جو رب نے یعقوب کی اولاد کو دی تھی۔ (رب نے یعقوب کا نام اسرائیل میں بدل دیا تھا۔)

With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:

کیونکہ رب نے اسرائیل کی قوم کے ساتھ عہد باندھ کر اُسے حکم دیا تھا، ”دوسرے کسی بھی معبود کی عبادت مت کرنا! اُن کے سامنے جھک کر اُن کی خدمت مت کرنا، نہ اُنہیں قربانیاں پیش کرنا۔

But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.

صرف رب کی پرستش کرو جو بڑی قدرت اور عظیم کام دکھا کر تمہیں مصر سے نکال لایا۔ صرف اُسی کے سامنے جھک جاؤ، صرف اُسی کو اپنی قربانیاں پیش کرو۔

And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.

لازم ہے کہ تم دھیان سے اُن تمام ہدایات، احکام اور قواعد کی پیروی کرو جو مَیں نے تمہارے لئے قلم بند کر دیئے ہیں۔ کسی اَور دیوتا کی پوجا مت کرنا۔

And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.

وہ عہد مت بھولنا جو مَیں نے تمہارے ساتھ باندھ لیا ہے، اور دیگر معبودوں کی پرستش نہ کرو۔

But the LORD your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

صرف اور صرف رب اپنے خدا کی عبادت کرو۔ وہی تمہیں تمہارے تمام دشمنوں کے ہاتھ سے بچا لے گا۔“

Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.

لیکن لوگ یہ سننے کے لئے تیار نہیں تھے بلکہ اپنے پرانے رسم و رواج کے ساتھ لپٹے رہے۔

So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

چنانچہ رب کی عبادت کے ساتھ ہی سامریہ کے نئے باشندے اپنے بُتوں کی پوجا کرتے رہے۔ آج تک اُن کی اولاد یہی کچھ کرتی آئی ہے۔
