II Kings 16

In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

آخز بن یوتام اسرائیل کے بادشاہ فِقَح بن رملیاہ کی حکومت کے 17ویں سال میں یہوداہ کا بادشاہ بنا۔

Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD his God, like David his father.

اُس وقت آخز 20 سال کا تھا، اور وہ یروشلم میں رہ کر 16 سال حکومت کرتا رہا۔ وہ اپنے باپ داؤد کے نمونے پر نہ چلا بلکہ وہ کچھ کرتا رہا جو رب کو ناپسند تھا۔

But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.

کیونکہ اُس نے اسرائیل کے بادشاہوں کا چال چلن اپنایا، یہاں تک کہ اُس نے اپنے بیٹے کو قربانی کے طور پر جلا دیا۔ یوں وہ اُن قوموں کے گھنونے رسم و رواج ادا کرنے لگا جنہیں رب نے اسرائیلیوں کے آگے ملک سے نکال دیا تھا۔

And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

آخز بخور جلا کر اپنی قربانیاں اونچے مقاموں، پہاڑیوں کی چوٹیوں اور ہر گھنے درخت کے سائے میں چڑھاتا تھا۔

Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

ایک دن شام کا بادشاہ رضین اور اسرائیل کا بادشاہ فِقَح بن رملیاہ یروشلم پر حملہ کرنے کے لئے یہوداہ میں گھس آئے۔ اُنہوں نے شہر کا محاصرہ تو کیا لیکن اُس پر قبضہ کرنے میں ناکام رہے۔

At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day.

اُن ہی دنوں میں رضین نے ایلات پر دوبارہ قبضہ کر کے شام کا حصہ بنا لیا۔ یہوداہ کے لوگوں کو وہاں سے نکال کر اُس نے وہاں ادومیوں کو بسا دیا۔ یہ ادومی آج تک وہاں آباد ہیں۔

So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath–pileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.

آخز نے اپنے قاصدوں کو اسور کے بادشاہ تِگلت پِل ایسر کے پاس بھیج کر اُسے اطلاع دی، ”مَیں آپ کا خادم اور بیٹا ہوں۔ مہربانی کر کے آئیں اور مجھے شام اور اسرائیل کے بادشاہوں سے بچائیں جو مجھ پر حملہ کر رہے ہیں۔“

And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

ساتھ ساتھ آخز نے وہ چاندی اور سونا جمع کیا جو رب کے گھر اور شاہی محل کے خزانوں میں تھا اور اُسے تحفے کے طور پر اسور کے بادشاہ کو بھیج دیا۔

And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.

تِگلت پِل ایسر راضی ہو گیا۔ اُس نے دمشق پر حملہ کر کے شہر پر قبضہ کر لیا اور اُس کے باشندوں کو گرفتار کر کے قیر کو لے گیا۔ رضین کو اُس نے قتل کر دیا۔

And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath–pileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.

آخز بادشاہ اسور کے بادشاہ تِگلت پِل ایسر سے ملنے کے لئے دمشق گیا۔ وہاں ایک قربان گاہ تھی جس کا نمونہ آخز نے بنا کر اُوریاہ امام کو بھیج دیا۔ ساتھ ساتھ اُس نے ڈیزائن کی تمام تفصیلات بھی یروشلم بھیج دیں۔

And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus.

جب اُوریاہ کو ہدایات ملیں تو اُس نے اُن ہی کے مطابق یروشلم میں ایک قربان گاہ بنائی۔ آخز کے دمشق سے واپس آنے سے پہلے پہلے اُسے تیار کر لیا گیا۔

And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.

جب بادشاہ واپس آیا تو اُس نے نئی قربان گاہ کا معائنہ کیا۔ پھر اُس کی سیڑھی پر چڑھ کر

And he burnt his burnt offering and his meat offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.

اُس نے خود قربانیاں اُس پر پیش کیں۔ بھسم ہونے والی قربانی اور غلہ کی نذر جلا کر اُس نے مَے کی نذر قربان گاہ پر اُنڈیل دی اور سلامتی کی قربانیوں کا خون اُس پر چھڑک دیا۔

And he brought also the brasen altar, which was before the LORD, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of the altar.

رب کے گھر اور نئی قربان گاہ کے درمیان اب تک پیتل کی پرانی قربان گاہ تھی۔ اب آخز نے اُسے اُٹھا کر رب کے گھر کے سامنے سے منتقل کر کے نئی قربان گاہ کے پیچھے یعنی شمال کی طرف رکھوا دیا۔

And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king's burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire by.

اُوریاہ امام کو اُس نے حکم دیا، ”اب سے آپ کو تمام قربانیوں کو نئی قربان گاہ پر پیش کرنا ہے۔ اِن میں صبح و شام کی روزانہ قربانیاں بھی شامل ہیں اور بادشاہ اور اُمّت کی مختلف قربانیاں بھی، مثلاً بھسم ہونے والی قربانیاں اور غلہ اور مَے کی نذریں۔ قربانیوں کے تمام خون کو بھی صرف نئی قربان گاہ پر چھڑکنا ہے۔ آئندہ پیتل کی پرانی قربان گاہ صرف میرے ذاتی استعمال کے لئے ہو گی جب مجھے اللہ سے کچھ دریافت کرنا ہو گا۔“

Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.

اُوریاہ امام نے ویسا ہی کیا جیسا بادشاہ نے اُسے حکم دیا۔

And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a pavement of stones.

لیکن آخز بادشاہ رب کے گھر میں مزید تبدیلیاں بھی لایا۔ ہتھ گاڑیوں کے جن فریموں پر باسن رکھے جاتے تھے اُنہیں توڑ کر اُس نے باسنوں کو دُور کر دیا۔ اِس کے علاوہ اُس نے ’سمندر‘ نامی بڑے حوض کو پیتل کے اُن بَیلوں سے اُتار دیا جن پر وہ شروع سے پڑا تھا اور اُسے پتھر کے ایک چبوترے پر رکھوا دیا۔

And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he from the house of the LORD for the king of Assyria.

اُس نے اسور کے بادشاہ کو خوش رکھنے کے لئے ایک اَور کام بھی کیا۔ اُس نے رب کے گھر سے وہ چبوترا دُور کر دیا جس پر بادشاہ کا تخت رکھا جاتا تھا اور وہ دروازہ بند کر دیا جو بادشاہ رب کے گھر میں داخل ہونے کے لئے استعمال کرتا تھا۔

Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

باقی جو کچھ آخز کی حکومت کے دوران ہوا اور جو کچھ اُس نے کیا وہ ’شاہانِ یہوداہ کی تاریخ‘ کی کتاب میں درج ہے۔

And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

جب وہ مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملا تو اُسے یروشلم کے اُس حصے میں جو ’داؤد کا شہر‘ کہلاتا ہے خاندانی قبر میں دفنایا گیا۔ پھر اُس کا بیٹا حِزقیاہ تخت نشین ہوا۔
