I Samuel 25

And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

اُن دنوں میں سموایل فوت ہوا۔ تمام اسرائیل رامہ میں جنازے کے لئے جمع ہوا۔ اُس کا ماتم کرتے ہوئے اُنہوں نے اُسے اُس کی خاندانی قبر میں دفن کیا۔ اُن دنوں میں داؤد دشتِ فاران میں چلا گیا۔

And there was a man in Maon, whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.

معون میں کالب کے خاندان کا ایک آدمی رہتا تھا جس کا نام نابال تھا۔ وہ نہایت امیر تھا۔ کرمل کے قریب اُس کی 3,000 بھیڑیں اور 1,000 بکریاں تھیں۔ بیوی کا نام ابی جیل تھا۔ وہ ذہین بھی تھی اور خوب صورت بھی۔ اُس کے مقابلے میں نابال سخت مزاج اور کمینہ تھا۔ ایک دن نابال اپنی بھیڑوں کے بال کترنے کے لئے کرمل آیا۔ جب داؤد کو خبر ملی

Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb.

معون میں کالب کے خاندان کا ایک آدمی رہتا تھا جس کا نام نابال تھا۔ وہ نہایت امیر تھا۔ کرمل کے قریب اُس کی 3,000 بھیڑیں اور 1,000 بکریاں تھیں۔ بیوی کا نام ابی جیل تھا۔ وہ ذہین بھی تھی اور خوب صورت بھی۔ اُس کے مقابلے میں نابال سخت مزاج اور کمینہ تھا۔ ایک دن نابال اپنی بھیڑوں کے بال کترنے کے لئے کرمل آیا۔ جب داؤد کو خبر ملی

And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal did shear his sheep.

معون میں کالب کے خاندان کا ایک آدمی رہتا تھا جس کا نام نابال تھا۔ وہ نہایت امیر تھا۔ کرمل کے قریب اُس کی 3,000 بھیڑیں اور 1,000 بکریاں تھیں۔ بیوی کا نام ابی جیل تھا۔ وہ ذہین بھی تھی اور خوب صورت بھی۔ اُس کے مقابلے میں نابال سخت مزاج اور کمینہ تھا۔ ایک دن نابال اپنی بھیڑوں کے بال کترنے کے لئے کرمل آیا۔ جب داؤد کو خبر ملی

And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name:

تو اُس نے 10 جوانوں کو بھیج کر کہا، ”کرمل جا کر نابال سے ملیں اور اُسے میرا سلام دیں۔

And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast.

اُسے بتانا، ’اللہ آپ کو طویل زندگی عطا کرے۔ آپ کی، آپ کے خاندان کی اور آپ کی تمام ملکیت کی سلامتی ہو۔

And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel.

سنا ہے کہ بھیڑوں کے بال کترنے کا وقت آ گیا ہے۔ کرمل میں آپ کے چرواہے ہمیشہ ہمارے ساتھ رہے۔ اُس پورے عرصے میں نہ اُنہیں ہماری طرف سے کوئی نقصان پہنچا، نہ کوئی چیز چوری ہوئی۔

Ask thy young men, and they will shew thee. Wherefore let the young men find favour in thine eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David.

اپنے لوگوں سے خود پوچھ لیں! وہ اِس کی تصدیق کریں گے۔ آج آپ خوشی منا رہے ہیں، اِس لئے میرے جوانوں پر مہربانی کریں۔ جو کچھ آپ خوشی سے دے سکتے ہیں وہ اُنہیں اور اپنے بیٹے داؤد کو دے دیں‘۔“

And when David's young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased.

داؤد کے آدمی نابال کے پاس گئے۔ اُسے داؤد کا سلام دے کر اُنہوں نے اُس کا پیغام دیا اور پھر جواب کا انتظار کیا۔

And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master.

لیکن نابال نے کرخت لہجے میں کہا، ”یہ داؤد کون ہے؟ کون ہے یسّی کا بیٹا؟ آج کل بہت سے ایسے غلام ہیں جو اپنے مالک سے بھاگے ہوئے ہیں۔

Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be?

مَیں اپنی روٹی، اپنا پانی اور کترنے والوں کے لئے ذبح کیا گیا گوشت لے کر ایسے آوارہ پھرنے والوں کو کیوں دے دوں؟ کیا پتا ہے کہ یہ کہاں سے آئے ہیں۔“

So David's young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all those sayings.

داؤد کے آدمی چلے گئے اور داؤد کو سب کچھ بتا دیا۔

And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.

تب داؤد نے حکم دیا، ”اپنی تلواریں باندھ لو!“ سب نے اپنی تلواریں باندھ لیں۔ اُس نے بھی ایسا کیا اور پھر 400 افراد کے ساتھ کرمل کے لئے روانہ ہوا۔ باقی 200 مرد سامان کے پاس رہے۔

But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master; and he railed on them.

اِتنے میں نابال کے ایک نوکر نے اُس کی بیوی کو اطلاع دی، ”داؤد نے ریگستان میں سے اپنے قاصدوں کو نابال کے پاس بھیجا تاکہ اُسے مبارک باد دیں۔ لیکن اُس نے جواب میں گرج کر اُنہیں گالیاں دی ہیں،

But the men were very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields:

حالانکہ اُن لوگوں کا ہمارے ساتھ سلوک ہمیشہ اچھا رہا ہے۔ ہم اکثر ریوڑوں کو چَرانے کے لئے اُن کے قریب پھرتے رہے، توبھی اُنہوں نے ہمیں کبھی نقصان نہ پہنچایا، نہ کوئی چیز چوری کی۔

They were a wall unto us both by night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.

جب بھی ہم اُن کے قریب تھے تو وہ دن رات چاردیواری کی طرح ہماری حفاظت کرتے رہے۔

Now therefore know and consider what thou wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he is such a son of Belial, that a man cannot speak to him.

اب سوچ لیں کہ کیا کِیا جائے! کیونکہ ہمارا مالک اور اُس کے تمام گھر والے بڑے خطرے میں ہیں۔ وہ خود اِتنا شریر ہے کہ اُس سے بات کرنے کا کوئی فائدہ نہیں۔“

Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses.

جتنی جلدی ہو سکا ابی جیل نے کچھ سامان اکٹھا کیا جس میں 200 روٹیاں، مَے کی دو مشکیں، کھانے کے لئے تیار کی گئی پانچ بھیڑیں، بُھنے ہوئے اناج کے ساڑھے 27 کلو گرام، کشمش کی 100 اور انجیر کی 200 ٹکیاں شامل تھیں۔ سب کچھ گدھوں پر لاد کر

And she said unto her servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she told not her husband Nabal.

اُس نے اپنے نوکروں کو حکم دیا، ”میرے آگے نکل جاؤ، مَیں تمہارے پیچھے پیچھے آؤں گی۔“ اپنے شوہر کو اُس نے کچھ نہ بتایا۔

And it was so, as she rode on the ass, that she came down by the covert of the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them.

جب ابی جیل پہاڑ کی آڑ میں اُترنے لگی تو داؤد اپنے آدمیوں سمیت اُس کی طرف بڑھتے ہوئے نظر آیا۔ پھر اُن کی ملاقات ہوئی۔

Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this fellow hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained unto him: and he hath requited me evil for good.

داؤد تو ابھی تک بڑے غصے میں تھا، کیونکہ وہ سوچ رہا تھا، ”اِس آدمی کی مدد کرنے کا کیا فائدہ تھا! ہم ریگستان میں اُس کے ریوڑوں کی حفاظت کرتے رہے اور اُس کی کوئی بھی چیز گم نہ ہونے دی۔ توبھی اُس نے ہماری نیکی کے جواب میں ہماری بےعزتی کی ہے۔

So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.

اللہ مجھے سخت سزا دے اگر مَیں کل صبح تک اُس کے ایک آدمی کو بھی زندہ چھوڑ دوں!“

And when Abigail saw David, she hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground,

داؤد کو دیکھ کر ابی جیل جلدی سے گدھے پر سے اُتر کر اُس کے سامنے منہ کے بل جھک گئی۔ اُس نے کہا، ”میرے آقا، مجھے ہی قصوروار ٹھہرائیں۔ مہربانی کر کے اپنی خادمہ کو بولنے دیں اور اُس کی بات سنیں۔

And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: and let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine audience, and hear the words of thine handmaid.

داؤد کو دیکھ کر ابی جیل جلدی سے گدھے پر سے اُتر کر اُس کے سامنے منہ کے بل جھک گئی۔ اُس نے کہا، ”میرے آقا، مجھے ہی قصوروار ٹھہرائیں۔ مہربانی کر کے اپنی خادمہ کو بولنے دیں اور اُس کی بات سنیں۔

Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.

میرے مالک اُس شریر آدمی نابال پر زیادہ دھیان نہ دیں۔ اُس کے نام کا مطلب احمق ہے اور وہ ہے ہی احمق۔ افسوس، میری اُن آدمیوں سے ملاقات نہیں ہوئی جو آپ نے ہمارے پاس بھیجے تھے۔

Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath withholden thee from coming to shed blood, and from avenging thyself with thine own hand, now let thine enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.

لیکن رب کی اور آپ کی حیات کی قَسم، رب نے آپ کو اپنے ہاتھوں سے بدلہ لینے اور قاتل بننے سے بچایا ہے۔ اور اللہ کرے کہ جو بھی آپ سے دشمنی رکھتے اور آپ کو نقصان پہنچانا چاہتے ہیں اُنہیں نابال کی سی سزا مل جائے۔

And now this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord.

اب گزارش ہے کہ جو برکت ہمیں ملی ہے اُس میں آپ بھی شریک ہوں۔ جو چیزیں آپ کی خادمہ لائی ہے اُنہیں قبول کر کے اُن جوانوں میں تقسیم کر دیں جو میرے آقا کے پیچھے ہو لئے ہیں۔

I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee all thy days.

جو بھی غلطی ہوئی ہے اپنی خادمہ کو معاف کیجئے۔ رب ضرور میرے آقا کا گھرانا ہمیشہ تک قائم رکھے گا، کیونکہ آپ رب کے دشمنوں سے لڑتے ہیں۔ وہ آپ کو جیتے جی غلطیاں کرنے سے بچائے رکھے۔

Yet a man is risen to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thine enemies, them shall he sling out, as out of the middle of a sling.

جب کوئی آپ کا تعاقب کر کے آپ کو مار دینے کی کوشش کرے تو رب آپ کا خدا آپ کی جان جانداروں کی تھیلی میں محفوظ رکھے گا۔ لیکن آپ کے دشمنوں کی جان وہ فلاخن کے پتھر کی طرح دُور پھینک کر ہلاک کر دے گا۔

And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel;

جب رب اپنے تمام وعدے پورے کر کے آپ کو اسرائیل کا بادشاہ بنا دے گا

That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid.

تو کوئی ایسی بات سامنے نہیں آئے گی جو ٹھوکر کا باعث ہو۔ میرے آقا کا ضمیر صاف ہو گا، کیونکہ آپ بدلہ لے کر قاتل نہیں بنے ہوں گے۔ گزارش ہے کہ جب رب آپ کو کامیابی دے تو اپنی خادمہ کو بھی یاد کریں۔“

And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me:

داؤد بہت خوش ہوا۔ ”رب اسرائیل کے خدا کی تعریف ہو جس نے آج آپ کو مجھ سے ملنے کے لئے بھیج دیا۔

And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.

آپ کی بصیرت مبارک ہے! آپ مبارک ہیں، کیونکہ آپ نے مجھے اِس دن اپنے ہاتھوں سے بدلہ لے کر قاتل بننے سے روک دیا ہے۔

For in very deed, as the LORD God of Israel liveth, which hath kept me back from hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.

رب اسرائیل کے خدا کی قَسم جس نے مجھے آپ کو نقصان پہنچانے سے روک دیا، کل صبح نابال کے تمام آدمی ہلاک ہوتے اگر آپ اِتنی جلدی سے مجھ سے ملنے نہ آتیں۔“

So David received of her hand that which she had brought him, and said unto her, Go up in peace to thine house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person.

داؤد نے ابی جیل کی پیش کردہ چیزیں قبول کر کے اُسے رُخصت کیا اور کہا، ”سلامتی سے جائیں۔ مَیں نے آپ کی سنی اور آپ کی بات منظور کر لی ہے۔“

And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.

جب ابی جیل اپنے گھر پہنچی تو دیکھا کہ بہت رونق ہے، کیونکہ نابال بادشاہ کی سی ضیافت کر کے خوشیاں منا رہا تھا۔ چونکہ وہ نشے میں دُھت تھا اِس لئے ابی جیل نے اُسے اُس وقت کچھ نہ بتایا۔

But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.

اگلی صبح جب نابال ہوش میں آ گیا تو ابی جیل نے اُسے سب کچھ کہہ سنایا۔ یہ سنتے ہی نابال کو دورہ پڑ گیا، اور وہ پتھر سا بن گیا۔

And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.

دس دن کے بعد رب نے اُسے مرنے دیا۔

And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to him to wife.

جب داؤد کو نابال کی موت کی خبر مل گئی تو وہ پکارا، ”رب کی تعریف ہو جس نے میرے لئے نابال سے لڑ کر میری بےعزتی کا بدلہ لیا ہے۔ اُس کی مہربانی ہے کہ مَیں غلط کام کرنے سے بچ گیا ہوں جبکہ نابال کی بُرائی اُس کے اپنے سر پر آ گئی ہے۔“ کچھ دیر کے بعد داؤد نے اپنے لوگوں کو ابی جیل کے پاس بھیجا تاکہ وہ داؤد کی اُس کے ساتھ شادی کی درخواست پیش کریں۔

And when the servants of David were come to Abigail to Carmel, they spake unto her, saying, David sent us unto thee, to take thee to him to wife.

چنانچہ اُس کے ملازم کرمل میں ابی جیل کے پاس جا کر بولے، ”داؤد نے ہمیں شادی کا پیغام دے کر بھیجا ہے۔“

And she arose, and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let thine handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.

ابی جیل کھڑی ہوئی، پھر منہ کے بل جھک کر بولی، ”مَیں اُن کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوں۔ مَیں اپنے مالک کے خادموں کے پاؤں دھونے تک تیار ہوں۔“

And Abigail hasted, and arose, and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife.

وہ جلدی سے تیار ہوئی اور گدھے پر بیٹھ کر داؤد کے ملازموں کے ساتھ روانہ ہوئی۔ پانچ نوکرانیاں اُس کے ساتھ چلی گئیں۔ یوں ابی جیل داؤد کی بیوی بن گئی۔

David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they were also both of them his wives.

اب داؤد کی دو بیویاں تھیں، کیونکہ پہلے اُس کی شادی اخی نوعم سے ہوئی تھی جو یزرعیل سے تھی۔

But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, which was of Gallim.

جہاں تک ساؤل کی بیٹی میکل کا تعلق تھا ساؤل نے اُسے داؤد سے لے کر اُس کی دوبارہ شادی فلطی ایل بن لَیس سے کروائی تھی جو جلّیم کا رہنے والا تھا۔
