I Chronicles 17

Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.

داؤد بادشاہ سلامتی سے اپنے محل میں رہنے لگا۔ ایک دن اُس نے ناتن نبی سے بات کی، ”دیکھیں، مَیں یہاں دیودار کے محل میں رہتا ہوں جبکہ رب کے عہد کا صندوق اب تک تنبو میں پڑا ہے۔ یہ مناسب نہیں!“

Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.

ناتن نے بادشاہ کی حوصلہ افزائی کی، ”جو کچھ بھی آپ کرنا چاہتے ہیں وہ کریں۔ اللہ آپ کے ساتھ ہے۔“

And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,

لیکن اُسی رات اللہ ناتن سے ہم کلام ہوا،

Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:

”میرے خادم داؤد کے پاس جا کر اُسے بتا دے کہ رب فرماتا ہے، ’تُو میری رہائش کے لئے مکان تعمیر نہیں کرے گا۔

For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.

آج تک مَیں کسی مکان میں نہیں رہا۔ جب سے مَیں اسرائیلیوں کو مصر سے نکال لایا اُس وقت سے مَیں خیمے میں رہ کر جگہ بہ جگہ پھرتا رہا ہوں۔

Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars?

جس دوران مَیں تمام اسرائیلیوں کے ساتھ اِدھر اُدھر پھرتا رہا کیا مَیں نے اسرائیل کے اُن راہنماؤں سے کبھی اِس ناتے سے شکایت کی جنہیں مَیں نے اپنی قوم کی گلہ بانی کرنے کا حکم دیا تھا؟ کیا مَیں نے اُن میں سے کسی سے کہا کہ تم نے میرے لئے دیودار کا گھر کیوں نہیں بنایا؟‘

Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, even from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel:

چنانچہ میرے خادم داؤد کو بتا دے، ’رب الافواج فرماتا ہے کہ مَیں ہی نے تجھے چراگاہ میں بھیڑوں کی گلہ بانی کرنے سے فارغ کر کے اپنی قوم اسرائیل کا بادشاہ بنا دیا ہے۔

And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.

جہاں بھی تُو نے قدم رکھا وہاں مَیں تیرے ساتھ رہا ہوں۔ تیرے دیکھتے دیکھتے مَیں نے تیرے تمام دشمنوں کو ہلاک کر دیا ہے۔ اب مَیں تیرا نام سرفراز کر دوں گا، وہ دنیا کے سب سے عظیم آدمیوں کے ناموں کے برابر ہی ہو گا۔

Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,

اور مَیں اپنی قوم اسرائیل کے لئے ایک وطن مہیا کروں گا، پودے کی طرح اُنہیں یوں لگا دوں گا کہ وہ جڑ پکڑ کر محفوظ رہیں گے اور کبھی بےچین نہیں ہوں گے۔ بےدین قومیں اُنہیں اُس طرح نہیں دبائیں گی جس طرح ماضی میں کیا کرتی تھیں،

And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.

اُس وقت سے جب مَیں قوم پر قاضی مقرر کرتا تھا۔ مَیں تیرے دشمنوں کو خاک میں ملا دوں گا۔ آج مَیں فرماتا ہوں کہ رب ہی تیرے لئے گھر بنائے گا۔

And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.

جب تُو بوڑھا ہو کر کوچ کر جائے گا اور اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملے گا تو مَیں تیری جگہ تیرے بیٹوں میں سے ایک کو تخت پر بٹھا دوں گا۔ اُس کی بادشاہی کو مَیں مضبوط بنا دوں گا۔

He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.

وہی میرے لئے گھر تعمیر کرے گا، اور مَیں اُس کا تخت ابد تک قائم رکھوں گا۔

I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee:

مَیں اُس کا باپ ہوں گا اور وہ میرا بیٹا ہو گا۔ میری نظرِ کرم ساؤل پر نہ رہی، لیکن مَیں کبھی نہیں ہونے دوں گا کہ وہ تیرے بیٹے سے دُور ہو جائے۔

But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.

مَیں اُسے اپنے گھرانے اور اپنی بادشاہی پر ہمیشہ قائم رکھوں گا، اُس کا تخت ہمیشہ مضبوط رہے گا‘۔“

According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

ناتن نے داؤد کے پاس جا کر اُسے سب کچھ سنایا جو رب نے اُسے رویا میں بتایا تھا۔

And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

تب داؤد عہد کے صندوق کے پاس گیا اور رب کے حضور بیٹھ کر دعا کرنے لگا، ”اے رب خدا، مَیں کون ہوں اور میرا خاندان کیا حیثیت رکھتا ہے کہ تُو نے مجھے یہاں تک پہنچایا ہے؟

And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.

اور اب اے اللہ، تُو مجھے اَور بھی زیادہ عطا کرنے کو ہے، کیونکہ تُو نے اپنے خادم کے گھرانے کے مستقبل کے بارے میں بھی وعدہ کیا ہے۔ اے رب خدا، تُو نے یوں مجھ پر نگاہ ڈالی ہے گویا کہ مَیں کوئی بہت اہم بندہ ہوں۔

What can David speak more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.

لیکن مَیں مزید کیا کہوں جب تُو نے یوں اپنے خادم کی عزت کی ہے؟ اے رب، تُو تو اپنے خادم کو جانتا ہے۔ تُو نے اپنے خادم کی خاطر اور اپنی مرضی کے مطابق یہ عظیم کام کر کے اِن عظیم وعدوں کی اطلاع دی ہے۔

O LORD, for thy servant's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all these great things.

لیکن مَیں مزید کیا کہوں جب تُو نے یوں اپنے خادم کی عزت کی ہے؟ اے رب، تُو تو اپنے خادم کو جانتا ہے۔ تُو نے اپنے خادم کی خاطر اور اپنی مرضی کے مطابق یہ عظیم کام کر کے اِن عظیم وعدوں کی اطلاع دی ہے۔

O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

اے رب، تجھ جیسا کوئی نہیں ہے۔ ہم نے اپنے کانوں سے سن لیا ہے کہ تیرے سوا کوئی اَور خدا نہیں ہے۔

And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?

دنیا میں کون سی قوم تیری اُمّت اسرائیل کی مانند ہے؟ تُو نے اِسی ایک قوم کا فدیہ دے کر اُسے غلامی سے چھڑایا اور اپنی قوم بنا لیا۔ تُو نے اسرائیل کے واسطے بڑے اور ہیبت ناک کام کر کے اپنے نام کی شہرت پھیلا دی۔ ہمیں مصر سے رِہا کر کے تُو نے قوموں کو ہمارے آگے سے نکال دیا۔

For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God.

اے رب، تُو اسرائیل کو ہمیشہ کے لئے اپنی قوم بنا کر اُن کا خدا بن گیا ہے۔

Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.

چنانچہ اے رب، جو بات تُو نے اپنے خادم اور اُس کے گھرانے کے بارے میں کی ہے اُسے ابد تک قائم رکھ اور اپنا وعدہ پورا کر۔

Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.

تب وہ مضبوط رہے گا اور تیرا نام ابد تک مشہور رہے گا۔ پھر لوگ تسلیم کریں گے کہ اسرائیل کا خدا رب الافواج واقعی اسرائیل کا خدا ہے، اور تیرے خادم داؤد کا گھرانا بھی ابد تک تیرے حضور قائم رہے گا۔

For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.

اے میرے خدا، تُو نے اپنے خادم کے کان کو اِس بات کے لئے کھول دیا ہے۔ تُو ہی نے فرمایا، ’مَیں تیرے لئے گھر تعمیر کروں گا۔‘ صرف اِسی لئے تیرے خادم نے یوں تجھ سے دعا کرنے کی جرٲت کی ہے۔

And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

اے رب، تُو ہی خدا ہے۔ تُو نے اپنے خادم سے اِن اچھی چیزوں کا وعدہ کیا ہے۔

Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.

اب تُو اپنے خادم کے گھرانے کو برکت دینے پر راضی ہو گیا ہے تاکہ وہ ہمیشہ تک تیرے سامنے قائم رہے۔ کیونکہ تُو ہی نے اُسے برکت دی ہے، اِس لئے وہ ابد تک مبارک رہے گا۔“
