Romans 7

Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

हे भाईयों, क्या तुम नहीं जानते (मैं उन लोगों से कह रहा हूँ जो व्यवस्था को जानते है) कि व्यवस्था का शासन किसी व्यक्ति पर तभी तक है जब तक वह जीता हैं?

For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

उदाहरण के लिए एक विवाहिता स्त्री अपने पति के साथ विधान के अनुसार तभी तक बँधी है जब तक वह जीवित है किन्तु यदि उसका पति मर जाता है, तो वह विवाह सम्बन्धी नियमों से छूट जाती है।

So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

पति के जीते जी यदि किसी दूसरे पुरुष से सम्बन्ध जोड़े तो उसे व्यभिचारिणी कहा जाता है किन्तु यदि उसका पुरुष मर जाता है तो विवाह सम्बन्धी नियम उस पर नहीं लगता और इसलिए यदि वह दूसरे पुरुष की हो जाती है तो भी वह व्यभिचारिणी नहीं है।

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

हे मेरे भाईयों, ऐसे ही मसीह की देह के द्वारा व्यवस्था के लिए तुम भी मर चुके हो। इसलिए अब तुम भी किसी दूसरे से नाता जोड़ सकते हो। उससे जिसे मरे हुओं में से पुनर्जीवित किया गया है। ताकि हम परमेश्वर के लिए कर्मो की उत्तम खेती कर सकें।

For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

क्योंकि जब हम मानव स्वभाव के अनुसार जी रहे थे, हमारी पापपूर्ण वासनाएँ जो व्यवस्था के द्वारा आयी थीं, हमारे अंगों पर हावी थीं। ताकि हम कर्मों की ऐसी खेती करें जिसका अंत मौत में होता है।

But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

किन्तु अब हमें व्यवस्था से छुटकारा दे दिया गया है क्योंकि जिस व्यवस्था के अधीन हमें बंदी बनाया हुआ था, हम उसके लिये मर चुके हैं। और अब पुरानी लिखित व्यवस्था से नहीं, बल्कि आत्मा की नयी रीति से प्रेरित होकर हम अपने स्वामी परमेश्वर की सेवा करते हैं।

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

तो फिर हम क्या कहें? क्या हम कहें कि व्यवस्था पाप है? निश्चय ही नहीं। जो भी हो, यदि व्यवस्था नहीं होती तो मैं पहचान ही नहीं पाता कि पाप क्या है? यदि व्यवस्था नहीं बताती, “जो अनुचित है उसकी चाहत मत करो” तो निश्चय ही मैं पहचान ही नहीं पाता कि अनुचित इच्छा क्या है।

But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

किन्तु पाप ने मौका मिलते ही व्यवस्था का लाभ उठाते हुए मुझमें हर तरह की ऐसी इच्छाएँ भर दीं जो अनुचित के लिए थीं। व्यवस्था के अभाव में पाप तो मर गया।

For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

एक समय मैं बिना व्यवस्था के ही जीवित था, किन्तु जब व्यवस्था का आदेश आया तो पाप जीवन में उभर आया।

And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

और मैं मर गया। वही व्यवस्था का आदेश जो जीवन देने के लिए था, मेरे लिए मृत्यु ले आया।

For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

क्योंकि पाप को अवसर मिल गया और उसने उसी व्यवस्था के आदेश के द्वारा मुझे छला और उसी के द्वारा मुझे मार डाला।

Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

इस तरह व्यवस्था पवित्र है और वह विधान पवित्र, धर्मी और उत्तम है।

Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

तो फिर क्या इसका यह अर्थ है कि जो उत्तम है, वही मेरी मृत्यु का कारण बना? निश्चय ही नहीं। बल्कि पाप उस उत्तम के द्वारा मेरे लिए मृत्यु का इसलिए कारण बना कि पाप को पहचाना जा सके। और व्यवस्था के विधान के द्वारा उसकी भयानक पापपूर्णता दिखाई जा सके।

For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

क्योंकि हम जानते हैं कि व्यवस्था तो आत्मिक है और मैं हाड़-माँस का भौतिक मनुष्य हूँ जो पाप की दासता के लिए बिका हुआ है।

For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

मैं नहीं जानता मैं क्या कर रहा हूँ क्योंकि मैं जो करना चाहता हूँ, नहीं करता, बल्कि मुझे वह करना पड़ता है, जिससे मैं घृणा करता हूँ।

If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

और यदि मैं वही करता हूँ जो मैं नहीं करना चाहता तो मैं स्वीकार करता हूँ कि व्यवस्था उत्तम है।

Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

किन्तु वास्तव में वह मैं नहीं हूँ जो यह सब कुछ कर रहा है, बल्कि यह मेरे भीतर बसा पाप है।

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

हाँ, मैं जानता हूँ कि मुझ में यानी मेरे भौतिक मानव शरीर में किसी अच्छी वस्तु का वास नहीं है। नेकी करने के इच्छा तो मुझ में है पर नेक काम मुझ से नहीं होते।

For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

क्योंकि जो अच्छा काम मैं करना चाहता हूँ, मैं नहीं करता बल्कि जो मैं नहीं करना चाहता, वे ही बुरे काम मैं करता हूँ।

Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

और यदि मैं वही काम करता हूँ जिन्हें करना नहीं चाहता तो वास्तव में उनका कर्ता जो उन्हें कर रहा है, मैं नहीं हूँ, बल्कि वह पाप है जो मुझ में बसा है।

I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

इसलिए मैं अपने में यह नियम पाता हूँ कि मैं जब अच्छा करना चाहता हूँ, तो अपने में बुराई को ही पाता हूँ।

For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

अपनी अन्तरात्मा में मैं परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था को सहर्ष मानता हूँ।

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

पर अपने शरीर में मैं एक दूसरे ही नियम को काम करते देखता हूँ यह मेरे चिन्तन पर शासन करने वाली व्यवस्था से युद्ध करता है और मुझे पाप की व्यवस्था का बंदी बना लेता है। यह व्यवस्था मेरे शरीर में क्रियाशील है।

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

मैं एक अभागा इंसान हूँ। मुझे इस शरीर से, जो मौत का निवाला है, छुटकारा कौन दिलायेगा?

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

अपने प्रभु यीशु मसीह के द्वारा मैं परमेश्वर का धन्यवाद करता हूँ। सो अपने हाड़ माँस के शरीर से मैं पाप की व्यवस्था का गुलाम होते हुए भी अपनी बुद्धि से परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था का सेवक हूँ।
