Isaiah 5

Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:

Wohlan, ich will singen von meinem Geliebten, ein Lied meines Lieben von seinem Weinberge: Mein Geliebter hatte einen Weinberg auf einem fetten Hügel.

And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

Und er grub ihn um und säuberte ihn von Steinen und bepflanzte ihn mit Edelreben; und er baute einen Turm in seine Mitte und hieb auch eine Kelter darin aus; und er erwartete, daß er Trauben brächte, aber er brachte Herlinge.

And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.

Nun denn, Bewohner von Jerusalem und Männer von Juda, richtet doch zwischen mir und meinem Weinberge!

What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?

Was war noch an meinem Weinberge zu tun, das ich nicht an ihm getan hätte? Warum habe ich erwartet, daß er Trauben brächte, und er brachte Herlinge?

And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:

Nun, so will ich euch denn kundmachen, was ich meinem Weinberge tun will: seinen Zaun wegnehmen, daß er abgeweidet werde, seine Mauer niederreißen, daß er zertreten werde.

And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

Und ich werde ihn zu Grunde richten; er soll nicht beschnitten noch behackt werden, und Dornen und Disteln sollen in ihm aufschießen; und ich will den Wolken gebieten, daß sie keinen Regen auf ihn fallen lassen.

For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

Denn der Weinberg Jehovas der Heerscharen ist das Haus Israel, und die Männer von Juda sind die Pflanzung seines Ergötzens; und er wartete auf Recht, und siehe da: Blutvergießen, auf Gerechtigkeit, und siehe da: Wehgeschrei.

Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!

Wehe denen, die Haus an Haus reihen, Feld an Feld rücken, bis gar kein Raum mehr ist, und ihr allein seßhaft seid inmitten des Landes!

In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.

Vor meinen Ohren hat Jehova der Heerscharen gesprochen: Wenn nicht die vielen Häuser zur Wüste werden, die großen und schönen ohne Bewohner!

Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.

Denn zehn Juchart Weinberge werden ein Bath bringen, und ein Homer Samen wird ein Epha bringen. -

Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!

Wehe denen, die des Morgens früh sich aufmachen, um starkem Getränk nachzulaufen, bis spät am Abend bleiben, der Wein erhitzt sie!

And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.

Und Laute und Harfe, Tamburin und Flöte und Wein sind bei ihrem Gelage; aber auf das Tun Jehovas schauen sie nicht, und das Werk seiner Hände sehen sie nicht.

Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

Darum wird mein Volk weggeführt aus Mangel an Erkenntnis, und seine Edlen verhungern, und seine Menge lechzt vor Durst.

Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

Darum sperrt der Scheol weit auf seinen Schlund und reißt seinen Rachen auf ohne Maß; und hinab fährt seine Pracht und sein Getümmel und sein Getöse und wer darin frohlockt.

And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:

Und der Mensch wird gebeugt und der Mann erniedrigt, und die Augen der Hoffärtigen werden erniedrigt.

But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.

Und Jehova der Heerscharen wird im Gericht erhaben sein, und Gott, der Heilige, sich heilig erweisen in Gerechtigkeit. -

Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.

Und Schafe werden dort weiden wie auf ihrer Trift, und Fremdlinge in den verwüsteten Fluren der Fetten sich nähren.

Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:

Wehe denen, welche die Ungerechtigkeit einherziehen mit Stricken der Falschheit, und die Sünde wie mit Wagenseilen!

That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!

die da sprechen: Er beeile, er beschleunige sein Werk, damit wir es sehen; und der Ratschluß des Heiligen Israels möge herannahen und kommen, damit wir ihn erfahren! -

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Wehe denen, die das Böse gut heißen, und das Gute böse; welche Finsternis zu Licht machen, und Licht zu Finsternis; welche Bitteres zu Süßem machen, und Süßes zu Bitterem! -

Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

Wehe denen, die in ihren Augen weise und bei sich selbst verständig sind! -

Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

Wehe denen, die Helden sind, um Wein zu trinken, und tapfere Männer, um starkes Getränk zu mischen;

Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

welche den Gesetzlosen um eines Geschenkes willen gerecht sprechen, und die Gerechtigkeit der Gerechten ihnen entziehen!

Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Darum, wie des Feuers Zunge die Stoppeln verzehrt, und dürres Gras in der Flamme zusammensinkt, so wird ihre Wurzel wie Moder werden, und ihre Blüte auffliegen wie Staub; denn sie haben das Gesetz Jehovas der Heerscharen verworfen und das Wort des Heiligen Israels verschmäht.

Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Darum ist der Zorn Jehovas wider sein Volk entbrannt, und er hat seine Hand gegen dasselbe ausgestreckt und es geschlagen; und die Berge erbebten, und ihre Leichname wurden wie Kehricht inmitten der Straßen. -Bei dem allen wendet sich sein Zorn nicht ab, und noch ist seine Hand ausgestreckt.

And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:

Und er wird ein Panier erheben den fernen Nationen, und eine wird er herbeizischen vom Ende der Erde; und siehe, eilends, schnell wird sie kommen.

None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:

Bei ihr ist kein Müder und kein Strauchelnder, keiner schlummert noch schläft; auch ist nicht gelöst der Gürtel ihrer Lenden, noch zerrissen der Riemen ihrer Schuhe.

Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses' hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:

Ihre Pfeile sind geschärft, und alle ihre Bogen gespannt; die Hufe ihrer Rosse sind Kieseln gleich zu achten, und ihre Räder dem Wirbelwinde.

Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.

Ihr Gebrüll ist wie das einer Löwin, sie brüllt wie die jungen Löwen; und sie knurrt und packt die Beute und bringt sie in Sicherheit, und kein Erretter ist da.

And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.

Und sie knurrt über ihr an jenem Tage gleich dem Rauschen des Meeres. Und man blickt zur Erde, und siehe, Finsternis, Drangsal; und das Licht ist verfinstert durch ihr Gewölk.
