Judges 8

And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.

А мъжете от Ефрем му казаха: Какво е това, което ни направи ти, като не ни повика, когато отиде да воюваш против Мадиам? И много се караха с него.

And he said unto them, What have I done now in comparison of you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abi–ezer?

А той им каза: Какво съм извършил сега аз в сравнение с вас? Пабиръкът на Ефрем не е ли по-добър от гроздобера на Авиезер?

God hath delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: and what was I able to do in comparison of you? Then their anger was abated toward him, when he had said that.

Във вашите ръце Бог предаде владетелите на Мадиам — Орив и Зив. И какво съм могъл да извърша аз в сравнение с вас? Тогава гневът им се отвърна от него, когато той каза това нещо.

And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.

После Гедеон дойде при Йордан и го премина, той и тристата мъже, които бяха с него; бяха изтощени, но още преследваха врага.

And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.

И той каза на сокхотските мъже: Моля ви, дайте няколко хляба на народа, който ме следва, защото са изтощени, а аз гоня мадиамските царе Зевей и Салмана.

And the princes of Succoth said, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thine army?

А сокхотските началници му казаха: Ръцете на Зевей и на Салмана в ръката ти ли са вече, че да дадем хляб на войската ти?

And Gideon said, Therefore when the LORD hath delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into mine hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.

А Гедеон каза: Затова, когато ГОСПОД предаде Зевей и Салмана в ръката ми, аз ще разкъсам плътта ви с тръните на пустинята и с бодилите!

And he went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.

И се изкачи оттам във Фануил и им говори по същия начин; но и фануилските мъже му отговориха така, както бяха отговорили сокхотските мъже.

And he spake also unto the men of Penuel, saying, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.

Тогава той също говори на фануилските мъже и каза: Когато се върна в мир, ще съборя тази кула!

Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.

А Зевей и Салмана бяха в Каркор и войските им с тях, около петнадесет хиляди души, всички, които бяха останали от цялата войска на източните жители; защото падналите бяха сто и двадесет хиляди мъже, които теглеха меч.

And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and smote the host: for the host was secure.

И Гедеон се изкачи по пътя на онези, които живееха в шатри, на изток от Нова и Йогвея и разби войската, докато войската се чувстваше в безопасност.

And when Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and discomfited all the host.

А Зевей и Салмана побягнаха и той ги гони, и хвана двамата мадиамски царе Зевей и Салмана, и разби цялата войска.

And Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle before the sun was up,

Тогава Гедеон, синът на Йоас, се върна от войната от възвишението Херес.

And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even threescore and seventeen men.

И хвана един младеж от сокхотските мъже и го разпита. И той му написа имената на началниците на Сокхот и старейшините му, седемдесет и седем мъже.

And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom ye did upbraid me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men that are weary?

И той дойде при сокхотските мъже и каза: Ето тук Зевей и Салмана, за които ми се подиграхте и казахте: Ръцете на Зевей и Салмана в ръката ти ли са вече, че да дадем хляб на изтощените ти мъже?

And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth.

И взе старейшините на града и тръни от пустинята и бодили и наказа с тях сокхотските мъже.

And he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city.

После събори кулата на Фануил и изби градските мъже.

Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered, As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king.

И каза на Зевей и Салмана: Какви бяха онези мъже, които убихте в Тавор? А те отговориха: Като теб, такива бяха; всеки приличаше на царски син.

And he said, They were my brethren, even the sons of my mother: as the LORD liveth, if ye had saved them alive, I would not slay you.

А той каза: Това бяха братята ми, синовете на майка ми. Жив е ГОСПОД — ако ги бяхте оставили живи, нямаше да ви убия!

And he said unto Jether his firstborn, Up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because he was yet a youth.

И каза на Етер, първородния си: Стани, убий ги! Но младежът не изтегли меча си, защото се страхуваше, понеже беше още младеж.

Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise thou, and fall upon us: for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornaments that were on their camels' necks.

А Зевей и Салмана казаха: Стани ти и ни нападни, защото какъвто е човекът, такава е и силата му. И Гедеон стана и уби Зевей и Салмана, и взе полумесеците, които бяха на вратовете на камилите им.

Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son's son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian.

Тогава израилевите мъже казаха на Гедеон: Владей над нас — и ти, и синът ти, и синът на сина ти — защото ни освободи от ръката на Мадиам!

And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the LORD shall rule over you.

А Гедеон им каза: Няма аз да владея над вас, нито синът ми ще владее над вас; ГОСПОД ще владее над вас.

And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that ye would give me every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.)

И Гедеон им каза: Ще ви помоля една молба: нека всеки от вас ми даде обиците от плячката си; защото те имаха златни обици, понеже бяха исмаиляни.

And they answered, We will willingly give them. And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the earrings of his prey.

А те отговориха: Ще ти дадем на драго сърце. И постлаха една дреха и всеки хвърляше в нея обиците от плячката си.

And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; beside ornaments, and collars, and purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that were about their camels' necks.

И теглото на златните обици, които той поиска, беше хиляда и седемстотин сикъла злато, освен полумесеците, медальоните и пурпурните дрехи, които бяха на мадиамските царе, и освен огърлиците, които бяха на вратовете на камилите им.

And Gideon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah: and all Israel went thither a whoring after it: which thing became a snare unto Gideon, and to his house.

И Гедеон направи от тях ефод и го постави в града си, в Офра. И там целият Израил блудства след него; и той стана примка за Гедеон и за дома му.

Thus was Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more. And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of Gideon.

Така Мадиам беше покорен пред израилевите синове и вече не надигна глава. И в дните на Гедеон земята имаше спокойствие в продължение на четиридесет години.

And Jerubbaal the son of Joash went and dwelt in his own house.

И Ероваал, синът на Йоас, отиде и живя в дома си.

And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten: for he had many wives.

А Гедеон имаше седемдесет сина, които бяха излезли от семенниците му, защото имаше много жени.

And his concubine that was in Shechem, she also bare him a son, whose name he called Abimelech.

Също и наложницата му, която беше в Сихем, му роди син, когото той нарече Авимелех.

And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulchre of Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abi–ezrites.

И Гедеон, синът на Йоас, умря в дълбока старост и беше погребан в гроба на баща си Йоас, в Офра на авиезерците.

And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel turned again, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made Baal–berith their god.

И щом Гедеон умря, израилевите синове отново блудстваха с ваалимите и направиха Ваалверит свой бог.

And the children of Israel remembered not the LORD their God, who had delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies on every side:

И израилевите синове не си спомниха ГОСПОДА, своя Бог, който ги беше избавил от ръцете на всичките им врагове отвсякъде.

Neither shewed they kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, namely, Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had shewed unto Israel.

И не оказаха милост на дома на Ероваал, който е Гедеон, според цялото добро, което той беше направил на Израил.
