Ecclesiastes 9

For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.
Защото всичко това взех присърце, за да издиря всичко това — че праведните и мъдрите, и делата им са в Божията ръка. Няма човек, който да знае дали любов или омраза го очаква; всичко е пред тях.
All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
Всичко идва еднакво за всички, едно и също се случва на праведния и на безбожния; на добрия и на чистия, и на нечистия; и на този, който жертва, и на този, който не жертва; както на добрия, така и на грешния, на този, който се заклева, както на този, който се страхува от заклеване.
This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
Това е зло във всичко, което се върши под слънцето — че едно и също се случва на всички. Сърцето на човешките синове е пълно със зло; безумие е в сърцето им, докато живеят, и после отиват при мъртвите.
For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
Защото за този, който е между всички живи, има надежда, понеже живо куче е по-добре от мъртъв лъв.
For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Защото живите знаят, че ще умрат, а мъртвите не знаят нищо и нямат вече награда, понеже споменът за тях е забравен.
Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
Както любовта им, така и омразата им, и ревността им са вече изгубени; вече никога няма да имат дял в нещо, което се прави под слънцето.
Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
Иди, яж хляба си с радост и пий виното си с весело сърце, защото Бог вече е благоволил в делата ти.
Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.
Нека дрехите ти бъдат винаги бели и нека не липсва масло на главата ти.
Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.
Наслаждавай се на живота с жената, която обичаш, през всичките дни на суетния си живот, който Той ти е дал под слънцето, във всичките дни на своята суета, защото това е делът ти в живота и в труда ти, в който се трудиш под слънцето.
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Всичко, което ръката ти намери да прави, направи със силата си, понеже няма нито работа, нито размисъл, нито знание, нито мъдрост в Шеол, където отиваш.
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
Обърнах се и видях под слънцето, че надбягването не е на бързите, нито боят — на силните, нито хлябът — на мъдрите, нито богатствата — на проницателните, нито благоволението — на изкусните, защото времето и случаят постигат всички тях.
For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
Защото и човек не знае времето си; както рибите, уловени в зла мрежа и както птиците, уловени в примка, като тях и човешките синове се улавят в зло време, когато то ги сполети внезапно.
This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me:
Също и това видях като мъдрост под слънцето, и тя ми се видя голяма:
There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:
Имаше малък град с малцина мъже в него; и велик цар дойде против него и го обсади, и съгради около него големи обсадни съоръжения,
Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.
но в него се намери беден мъдър човек и той чрез мъдростта си избави града. Но никой не си спомни за онзи беден човек.
Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.
Тогава казах: Мъдростта е по-добра от силата. Но мъдростта на сиромаха се презира и думите му не се чуват.
The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.
Думите на мъдрите, чути в тишина, са повече от вика на властващия между безумни.
Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.
Мъдростта е по-добра от военни оръжия; но един грешник погубва много добри неща.
