Isaiah 1

ذیل میں وہ رویائیں درج ہیں جو یسعیاہ بن آموص نے یہوداہ اور یروشلم کے بارے میں دیکھیں اور جو اُن سالوں میں منکشف ہوئیں جب عُزیّاہ، یوتام، آخز اور حِزقیاہ یہوداہ کے بادشاہ تھے۔

The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

اے آسمان، میری بات سن! اے زمین، میرے الفاظ پر کان دھر! کیونکہ رب نے فرمایا ہے، ”جن بچوں کی پرورش مَیں نے کی ہے اور جو میرے زیرِ نگرانی پروان چڑھے ہیں، اُنہوں نے مجھ سے رشتہ توڑ لیا ہے۔

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

بَیل اپنے مالک کو جانتا اور گدھا اپنے آقا کی چرنی کو پہچانتا ہے، لیکن اسرائیل اِتنا نہیں جانتا، میری قوم سمجھ سے خالی ہے۔“

The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.

اے گناہ گار قوم، تجھ پر افسوس! اے سنگین قصور میں پھنسی ہوئی اُمّت، تجھ پر افسوس! شریر نسل، بدچلن بچے! اُنہوں نے رب کو ترک کر دیا ہے۔ ہاں، اُنہوں نے اسرائیل کے قدوس کو حقیر جان کر رد کیا، اپنا منہ اُس سے پھیر لیا ہے۔

Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

اب تمہیں مزید کہاں پیٹا جائے؟ تمہاری ضد تو مزید بڑھتی جا رہی ہے گو پورا سر زخمی اور پورا دل بیمار ہے۔

Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

چاند سے لے کر تلوے تک پورا جسم مجروح ہے، ہر جگہ چوٹیں، گھاؤ اور تازہ تازہ ضربیں لگی ہیں۔ اور نہ اُنہیں صاف کیا گیا، نہ اُن کی مرہم پٹی کی گئی ہے۔

From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

تمہارا ملک ویران و سنسان ہو گیا ہے، تمہارے شہر بھسم ہو گئے ہیں۔ تمہارے دیکھتے دیکھتے پردیسی تمہارے کھیتوں کو لُوٹ رہے ہیں، اُنہیں یوں اُجاڑ رہے ہیں جس طرح پردیسی ہی کر سکتے ہیں۔

Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

صرف یروشلم ہی باقی رہ گیا ہے، صیون بیٹی انگور کے باغ میں جھونپڑی کی طرح اکیلی رہ گئی ہے۔ اب دشمن سے گھرا ہوا یہ شہر کھیرے کے کھیت میں لگے چھپر کی مانند ہے۔

And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

اگر رب الافواج ہم میں سے چند ایک کو زندہ نہ چھوڑتا تو ہم سدوم کی طرح مٹ جاتے، ہمارا عمورہ کی طرح ستیاناس ہو جاتا۔

Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

اے سدوم کے سردارو، رب کا فرمان سن لو! اے عمورہ کے لوگو، ہمارے خدا کی ہدایت پر دھیان دو!

Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اگر تم بےشمار قربانیاں پیش کرو تو مجھے کیا؟ مَیں تو بھسم ہونے والے مینڈھوں اور موٹے تازے بچھڑوں کی چربی سے اُکتا گیا ہوں۔ بَیلوں، لیلوں اور بکروں کا جو خون مجھے پیش کیا جاتا ہے وہ مجھے پسند نہیں۔

To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

کس نے تم سے تقاضا کیا کہ میرے حضور آتے وقت میری بارگاہوں کو پاؤں تلے روندو؟

When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

رُک جاؤ! اپنی بےمعنی قربانیاں مت پیش کرو! تمہارے بخور سے مجھے گھن آتی ہے۔ نئے چاند کی عید اور سبت کا دن مت مناؤ، لوگوں کو عبادت کے لئے جمع نہ کرو! مَیں تمہارے بےدین اجتماع برداشت ہی نہیں کر سکتا۔

Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.

جب تم نئے چاند کی عید اور باقی تقریبات مناتے ہو تو میرے دل میں نفرت پیدا ہوتی ہے۔ یہ میرے لئے بھاری بوجھ بن گئی ہیں جن سے مَیں تنگ آ گیا ہوں۔

Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

بےشک اپنے ہاتھوں کو دعا کے لئے اُٹھاتے جاؤ، مَیں دھیان نہیں دوں گا۔ گو تم بہت زیادہ نماز بھی پڑھو، مَیں تمہاری نہیں سنوں گا، کیونکہ تمہارے ہاتھ خون آلودہ ہیں۔

And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

پہلے نہا کر اپنے آپ کو پاک صاف کرو۔ اپنی شریر حرکتوں سے باز آؤ تاکہ وہ مجھے نظر نہ آئیں۔ اپنی غلط راہوں کو چھوڑ کر

Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

نیک کام کرنا سیکھ لو۔ انصاف کے طالب رہو، مظلوموں کا سہارا بنو، یتیموں کا انصاف کرو اور بیواؤں کے حق میں لڑو!“

Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”آؤ ہم عدالت میں جا کر ایک دوسرے سے مقدمہ لڑیں۔ اگر تمہارے گناہوں کا رنگ قرمزی ہو جائے تو کیا وہ دوبارہ برف جیسے اُجلے ہو جائیں گے؟ اگر اُن کا رنگ ارغوانی ہو جائے تو کیا وہ دوبارہ اُون جیسے سفید ہو جائیں گے؟

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

اگر تم سننے کے لئے تیار ہو تو ملک کی بہترین پیداوار سے لطف اندوز ہو گے۔

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

لیکن اگر انکار کر کے سرکش ہو جاؤ تو تلوار کی زد میں آ کر مر جاؤ گے۔ اِس بات کا یقین کرو، کیونکہ رب نے یہ کچھ فرمایا ہے۔“

But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

یہ کیسے ہو گیا ہے کہ جو شہر پہلے اِتنا وفادار تھا وہ اب کسبی بن گیا ہے؟ پہلے یروشلم انصاف سے معمور تھا، اور راستی اُس میں سکونت کرتی تھی۔ لیکن اب ہر طرف قاتل ہی قاتل ہیں!

How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

اے یروشلم، تیری خالص چاندی خام چاندی میں بدل گئی ہے، تیری بہترین مَے میں پانی ملایا گیا ہے۔

Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:

تیرے بزرگ ہٹ دھرم اور چوروں کے یار ہیں۔ یہ رشوت خور سب لوگوں کے پیچھے پڑے رہتے ہیں تاکہ چائے پانی مل جائے۔ نہ وہ پروا کرتے ہیں کہ یتیموں کو انصاف ملے، نہ بیواؤں کی فریاد اُن تک پہنچتی ہے۔

Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

اِس لئے قادرِ مطلق رب الافواج جو اسرائیل کا زبردست سورما ہے فرماتا ہے، ”آؤ، مَیں اپنے مخالفوں اور دشمنوں سے انتقام لے کر سکون پاؤں۔

Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

مَیں تیرے خلاف ہاتھ اُٹھاؤں گا اور خام چاندی کی طرح تجھے پوٹاش کے ساتھ پگھلا کر تمام مَیل سے پاک صاف کر دوں گا۔

And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:

مَیں تجھے دوبارہ قدیم زمانے کے سے قاضی اور ابتدا کے سے مشیر عطا کروں گا۔ پھر یروشلم دوبارہ دار الانصاف اور وفادار شہر کہلائے گا۔“

And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

اللہ صیون کی عدالت کر کے اُس کا فدیہ دے گا، جو اُس میں توبہ کریں گے اُن کا وہ انصاف کر کے اُنہیں چھڑائے گا۔

Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

لیکن باغی اور گناہ گار سب کے سب پاش پاش ہو جائیں گے، رب کو ترک کرنے والے ہلاک ہو جائیں گے۔

And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

بلوط کے جن درختوں کی پوجا سے تم لطف اندوز ہوتے ہو اُن کے باعث تم شرم سار ہو گے، اور جن باغوں کو تم نے اپنی بُت پرستی کے لئے چن لیا ہے اُن کے باعث تمہیں شرم آئے گی۔

For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.

تم اُس بلوط کے درخت کی مانند ہو گے جس کے پتے مُرجھا گئے ہوں، تمہاری حالت اُس باغ کی سی ہو گی جس میں پانی نایاب ہو۔

For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.

زبردست آدمی پھوس اور اُس کی غلط حرکتیں چنگاری جیسی ہوں گی۔ دونوں مل کر یوں بھڑک اُٹھیں گے کہ کوئی بھی بجھا نہیں سکے گا۔

And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.
