II Kings 14

EN el año segundo de Joás hijo de Joachâz rey de Israel, comenzó á reinar Amasías hijo de Joás rey de Judá.

In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.

Cuando comenzó á reinar era de veinticinco años, y veintinueve años reinó en Jerusalem: el nombre de su madre fué Joaddan, de Jerusalem.

He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

Y él hizo lo recto en ojos de JEHOVÁ, aunque no como David su padre: hizo conforme á todas las cosas que había hecho Joás su padre.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.

Con todo eso los altos no fueron quitados; que el pueblo aun sacrificaba y quemaba perfumes en los altos.

Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.

Y luego que el reino fué confirmado en su mano, hirió á sus siervos, los que habían muerto al rey su padre.

And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.

Mas no mató á los hijos de los que le mataron, conforme á lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, donde JEHOVÁ mandó, diciendo: No matarán á los padres por los hijos, ni á los hijos por los padres: mas cada uno morirá por su pecado.

But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

Éste hirió asimismo diez mil Idumeos en el valle de las Salinas, y tomó á Sela por guerra, y llamóla Jocteel, hasta hoy.

He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.

Entonces Amasías envió embajadores á Joás, hijo de Joachâz hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, y veámonos de rostro.

Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.

Y Joás rey de Israel envió á Amasías rey de Judá esta respuesta: El cardillo que está en el Líbano envió á decir al cedro que está en el Líbano: Da tu hija por mujer á mi hijo. Y pasaron las bestias fieras que están en el Líbano, y hollaron el cardillo.

And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.

Ciertamente has herido á Edom, y tu corazón te ha envanecido: gloríate pues, mas estáte en tu casa. ¿Y por qué te entrometerás en un mal, para que caigas tú, y Judá contigo?

Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

Mas Amasías no dió oídos; por lo que subió Joás rey de Israel, y viéronse de rostro él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Beth-semes, que es de Judá.

But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth–shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.

Y Judá cayó delante de Israel, y huyeron cada uno á sus estancias.

And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.

Además Joás rey de Israel tomó á Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joás hijo de Ochôzías, en Beth-semes: y vino á Jerusalem, y rompió el muro de Jerusalem desde la puerta de Ephraim hasta la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos.

And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth–shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

Y tomó todo el oro y la plata, y todos los vasos que fueron hallados en la casa de JEHOVÁ, y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, y los hijos en rehenes, y volvióse á Samaria.

And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.

Lo demás de los hechos de Joás que ejecutó, y sus hazañas, y cómo peleó contra Amasías rey de Judá, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Y durmió Joás con sus padres, y fué sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Jeroboam su hijo.

And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.

Y Amasías hijo de Joás rey de Judá, vivió después de la muerte de Joás hijo de Joachâz rey de Israel, quince años.

And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

Lo demás de los hechos de Amasías, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

É hicieron conspiración contra él en Jerusalem, y él huyó á Lachîs; mas enviaron tras él á Lachîs, y allá lo mataron.

Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.

Trajéronlo luego sobre caballos, y sepultáronlo en Jerusalem con sus padres, en la ciudad de David.

And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.

Entonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó á Azarías, que era de diez y seis años, é hiciéronlo rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.

And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.

Edificó él á Elath, y la restituyó á Judá, después que el rey durmió con sus padres.

He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

El año quince de Amasías hijo de Joás rey de Judá, comenzó á reinar Jeroboam hijo de Joás sobre Israel en Samaria; y reinó cuarenta y un años.

In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.

É hizo lo malo en ojos de JEHOVÁ, y no se apartó de todos los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar á Israel.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

Él restituyó los términos de Israel desde la entrada de Amath hasta la mar de la llanura, conforme á la palabra de JEHOVÁ Dios de Israel, la cual había él hablado por su siervo Jonás hijo de Amittai, profeta que fué de Gath-hepher.

He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gath–hepher.

Por cuanto JEHOVÁ miró la muy amarga aflicción de Israel; que no había guardado ni desamparado, ni quien diese ayuda á Israel;

For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.

Y JEHOVÁ no había determinado raer el nombre de Israel de debajo del cielo: por tanto, los salvó por mano de Jeroboam hijo de Joás.

And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

Y lo demás de los hechos de Jeroboam, y todas las cosas que hizo, y su valentía, y todas las guerras que hizo, y cómo restituyó á Judá en Israel á Damasco y á Hamath, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Y durmió Jeroboam con sus padres, los reyes de Israel, y reinó en su lugar Zachârías su hijo.

And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.
