I John 3

Vede que grande amor nos concedeu o Pai: de sermos chamados filhos de Deus. Por isso o mundo não nos conhece; porque não conheceu a ele.

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Amados, agora somos filhos de Deus, e ainda não se manifestou o que havemos de ser. Mas sabemos que, quando ele se manifestar, seremos semelhantes a ele; pois o veremos como ele é.

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

E todo o que nele tem esta esperança, purifica-se a si mesmo, assim como ele é puro.

And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Todo aquele que pratica o pecado também transgride a lei, porque o pecado é a transgressão da lei.

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

E bem sabeis que ele se manifestou para tirar os pecados; e nele não há pecado.

And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Todo o que permanece nele não peca; todo o que peca não o viu nem o conhece.

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

Filhinhos, ninguém vos engane; quem pratica a justiça é justo, assim como ele é justo.

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

Quem pratica o pecado é do Diabo; porque o Diabo peca desde o princípio. Para isto o Filho de Deus se manifestou: para destruir as obras do Diabo.

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Aquele que é nascido de Deus não peca; porque sua semente permanece nele; e não pode pecar, porque é nascido de Deus.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Nisto são manifestos os filhos de Deus, e os filhos do Diabo: quem não pratica a justiça não é de Deus, nem o que não ama a seu irmão.

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

Porque esta é a mensagem que ouvistes desde o princípio, que nos amemos uns aos outros.

For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

Não como Caim, que era do Maligno, e matou a seu irmão. E por que o matou? Porque as suas obras eram más, e as de seu irmão, justas.

Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

Meus irmãos, não vos admireis se o mundo vos odeia.

Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

Sabemos que já passamos da morte para a vida, porque amamos os irmãos. Quem não ama o irmão permanece na morte.

We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

Todo o que odeia a seu irmão é assassino; e vós sabeis que nenhum assassino tem a vida eterna permanecendo nele.

Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Nisto conhecemos o amor: que Cristo deu a sua vida por nós; e nós devemos dar a vida pelos irmãos.

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Quem, pois, tiver bens do mundo, e, vendo o seu irmão necessitando, lhe fechar o seu coração, como permanece nele o amor de Deus?

But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Filhinhos, não amemos de palavra, nem de língua, mas por obras e em verdade.

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Nisto conheceremos que somos da verdade, e diante dele tranquilizaremos o nosso coração;

And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

porque se nosso coração nos condena, Deus é maior que nosso coração, e sabe todas as coisas.

For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

Amados, se nosso coração não nos condena, temos confiança para com Deus;

Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

e qualquer coisa que pedimos, dele a recebemos, porque guardamos os seus mandamentos, e fazemos o que é agradável diante dele.

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

Ora, o seu mandamento é este, que creiamos no nome de seu Filho Jesus Cristo, e amemos uns aos outros, como ele nos ordenou.

And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

Quem guarda os seus mandamentos, permanece em Deus e Deus nele. E nisto conhecemos que ele permanece em nós: pelo Espírito que nos tem dado.

And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
