Zechariah 8

Again the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying,

ایک بار پھر رب الافواج کا کلام مجھ پر نازل ہوا،

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury.

”رب الافواج فرماتا ہے کہ مَیں بڑی غیرت سے صیون کے لئے لڑ رہا ہوں، بڑے غصے میں اُس کے لئے جد و جہد کر رہا ہوں۔

Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain.

رب فرماتا ہے کہ مَیں صیون کے پاس واپس آؤں گا، دوبارہ یروشلم کے بیچ میں سکونت کروں گا۔ تب یروشلم ’وفاداری کا شہر‘ اور رب الافواج کا پہاڑ ’کوہِ مُقدّس‘ کہلائے گا۔

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.

کیونکہ رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ’بزرگ مرد و خواتین دوبارہ یروشلم کے چوکوں میں بیٹھیں گے، اور ہر ایک اِتنا عمر رسیدہ ہو گا کہ اُسے چھڑی کا سہارا لینا پڑے گا۔

And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.

ساتھ ساتھ چوک کھیل کود میں مصروف لڑکوں لڑکیوں سے بھرے رہیں گے۔‘

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith the LORD of hosts.

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ’شاید یہ اُس وقت بچے ہوئے اسرائیلیوں کو ناممکن لگے۔ لیکن کیا ایسا کام میرے لئے جو رب الافواج ہوں ناممکن ہے؟ ہرگز نہیں!‘

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country;

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ’مَیں اپنی قوم کو مشرق اور مغرب کے ممالک سے بچا کر

And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.

واپس لاؤں گا، اور وہ یروشلم میں بسیں گے۔ وہاں وہ میری قوم ہوں گے اور مَیں وفاداری اور انصاف کے ساتھ اُن کا خدا ہوں گا۔‘

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ’حوصلہ رکھ کر تعمیری کام تکمیل تک پہنچاؤ! آج بھی تم اُن باتوں پر اعتماد کر سکتے ہو جو نبیوں نے رب الافواج کے گھر کی بنیاد ڈالتے وقت سنائی تھیں۔

For before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbour.

یاد رہے کہ اُس وقت سے پہلے نہ انسان اور نہ حیوان کو محنت کی مزدوری ملتی تھی۔ آنے جانے والے کہیں بھی دشمن کے حملوں سے محفوظ نہیں تھے، کیونکہ مَیں نے ہر آدمی کو اُس کے ہم سائے کا دشمن بنا دیا تھا۔‘

But now I will not be unto the residue of this people as in the former days, saith the LORD of hosts.

لیکن رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ’اب سے مَیں تم سے جو بچے ہوئے ہو ایسا سلوک نہیں کروں گا۔

For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.

لوگ سلامتی سے بیج بوئیں گے، انگور کی بیل وقت پر اپنا پھل لائے گی، کھیتوں میں فصلیں پکیں گی اور آسمان اوس پڑنے دے گا۔ یہ تمام چیزیں مَیں یہوداہ کے بچے ہوؤں کو میراث میں دوں گا۔

And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.

اے یہوداہ اور اسرائیل، پہلے تم دیگر اقوام میں لعنت کا نشانہ بن گئے تھے، لیکن اب جب مَیں تمہیں رِہا کروں گا تو تم برکت کا باعث ہو گے۔ ڈرو مت! حوصلہ رکھو!‘

For thus saith the LORD of hosts; As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith the LORD of hosts, and I repented not:

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ’پہلے جب تمہارے باپ دادا نے مجھے طیش دلایا تو مَیں نے تم پر آفت لانے کا مصمم ارادہ کر لیا تھا اور کبھی نہ پچھتایا۔

So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not.

لیکن اب مَیں یروشلم اور یہوداہ کو برکت دینا چاہتا ہوں۔ اِس میں میرا ارادہ اُتنا ہی پکا ہے جتنا پہلے تمہیں نقصان پہنچانے میں پکا تھا۔ چنانچہ ڈرو مت!

These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:

لیکن اِن باتوں پر دھیان دو، ایک دوسرے سے سچ بات کرو، عدالت میں سچائی اور سلامتی پر مبنی فیصلے کرو،

And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.

اپنے پڑوسی کے خلاف بُرے منصوبے مت باندھو اور جھوٹی قَسم کھانے کے شوق سے باز آؤ۔ اِن تمام چیزوں سے مَیں نفرت کرتا ہوں۔‘ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔“

And the word of the LORD of hosts came unto me, saying,

ایک بار پھر رب الافواج کا کلام مجھ پر نازل ہوا،

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.

”رب الافواج فرماتا ہے کہ آج تک یہوداہ کے لوگ چوتھے، پانچویں، ساتویں اور دسویں مہینے میں روزہ رکھ کر ماتم کرتے آئے ہیں۔ لیکن اب سے یہ اوقات خوشی و شادمانی کے موقعے ہوں گے جن پر جشن مناؤ گے۔ لیکن سچائی اور سلامتی کو پیار کرو!

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities:

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے کہ ایسا وقت آئے گا جب دیگر اقوام اور متعدد شہروں کے لوگ یہاں آئیں گے۔

And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.

ایک شہر کے باشندے دوسرے شہر میں جا کر کہیں گے، ’آؤ، ہم یروشلم جا کر رب سے التماس کریں، رب الافواج کی مرضی دریافت کریں۔ ہم بھی جائیں گے۔‘

Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.

ہاں، متعدد اقوام اور طاقت ور اُمّتیں یروشلم آئیں گی تاکہ رب الافواج کی مرضی معلوم کریں اور اُس سے التماس کریں۔

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے کہ اُن دنوں میں مختلف اقوام اور اہلِ زبان کے دس آدمی ایک یہودی کے دامن کو پکڑ کر کہیں گے، ’ہمیں اپنے ساتھ چلنے دیں، کیونکہ ہم نے سنا ہے کہ اللہ آپ کے ساتھ ہے‘۔“
