Psalms 124

If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;

اسرائیل کہے، ”اگر رب ہمارے ساتھ نہ ہوتا،

If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

اگر رب ہمارے ساتھ نہ ہوتا جب لوگ ہمارے خلاف اُٹھے

Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

اور آگ بگولا ہو کر اپنا پورا غصہ ہم پر اُتارا، تو وہ ہمیں زندہ ہڑپ کر لیتے۔

Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

پھر سیلاب ہم پر ٹوٹ پڑتا، ندی کا تیز دھارا ہم پر غالب آ جاتا

Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

اور متلاطم پانی ہم پر سے گزر جاتا۔“

Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

رب کی حمد ہو جس نے ہمیں اُن کے دانتوں کے حوالے نہ کیا، ورنہ وہ ہمیں پھاڑ کھاتے۔

Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

ہماری جان اُس چڑیا کی طرح چھوٹ گئی ہے جو چڑی مار کے پھندے سے نکل کر اُڑ گئی ہے۔ پھندا ٹوٹ گیا ہے، اور ہم بچ نکلے ہیں۔

Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

رب کا نام، ہاں اُسی کا نام ہمارا سہارا ہے جو آسمان و زمین کا خالق ہے۔
