Nahum 1

The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.

ذیل میں نینوہ کے بارے میں وہ کلام قلم بند ہے جو اللہ نے رویا میں ناحوم اِلقُوشی کو دکھایا۔

God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.

رب غیرت مند اور انتقام لینے والا خدا ہے۔ انتقام لیتے وقت رب اپنا پورا غصہ اُتارتا ہے۔ رب اپنے مخالفوں سے بدلہ لیتا اور اپنے دشمنوں سے ناراض رہتا ہے۔

The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

رب تحمل سے بھرپور ہے، اور اُس کی قدرت عظیم ہے۔ وہ قصوروار کو کبھی بھی سزا دیئے بغیر نہیں چھوڑتا۔ وہ آندھی اور طوفان سے گھرا ہوا چلتا ہے، اور بادل اُس کے پاؤں تلے کی گرد ہوتے ہیں۔

He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.

وہ سمندر کو ڈانٹتا تو وہ سوکھ جاتا، اُس کے حکم پر تمام دریا خشک ہو جاتے ہیں۔ تب بسن اور کرمل کی شاداب ہریالی مُرجھا جاتی اور لبنان کے پھول کملا جاتے ہیں۔

The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.

اُس کے سامنے پہاڑ لرز اُٹھتے، پہاڑیاں پگھل جاتی ہیں۔ اُس کے حضور پوری زمین اپنے باشندوں سمیت لرز اُٹھتی ہے۔

Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.

کون اُس کی ناراضی اور اُس کے شدید قہر کا سامنا کر سکتا ہے؟ اُس کا غضب آگ کی طرح بھڑک کر زمین پر نازل ہوتا ہے، اُس کے آنے پر پتھر پھٹ کر ٹکڑے ٹکڑے ہو جاتے ہیں۔

The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

رب مہربان ہے۔ مصیبت کے دن وہ مضبوط قلعہ ہے، اور جو اُس میں پناہ لیتے ہیں اُنہیں وہ جانتا ہے۔

But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.

لیکن اپنے دشمنوں پر وہ سیلاب لائے گا جو اُن کے مقام کو غرق کرے گا۔ جہاں بھی دشمن بھاگ جائے وہاں اُس پر تاریکی چھا جانے دے گا۔

What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.

رب کے خلاف منصوبہ باندھنے کا کیا فائدہ؟ وہ تو تمہیں ایک دم تباہ کر دے گا، دوسری بار تم پر آفت لانے کی ضرورت ہی نہیں ہو گی۔

For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.

کیونکہ گو دشمن گھنی اور خاردار جھاڑیوں اور نشے میں دُھت شرابی کی مانند ہیں، لیکن وہ جلد ہی خشک بھوسے کی طرح بھسم ہو جائیں گے۔

There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor.

اے نینوہ، تجھ سے وہ نکل آیا جس نے رب کے خلاف بُرے منصوبے باندھے، جس نے شیطانی مشورے دیئے۔

Thus saith the LORD; Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.

لیکن اپنی قوم سے رب فرماتا ہے، ”گو دشمن طاقت ور اور بےشمار کیوں نہ ہوں توبھی اُنہیں مٹایا جائے گا اور وہ غائب ہو جائیں گے۔ بےشک مَیں نے تجھے پست کر دیا، لیکن آئندہ ایسا نہیں کروں گا۔

For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.

اب مَیں وہ جوا توڑ ڈالوں گا جو اُنہوں نے تیری گردن پر رکھ دیا تھا، مَیں تیری زنجیروں کو پھاڑ ڈالوں گا۔“

And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.

لیکن نینوہ سے رب فرماتا ہے، ”آئندہ تیری کوئی اولاد قائم نہیں رہے گی جو تیرا نام رکھے۔ جتنے بھی بُت اور مجسمے تیرے مندر میں پڑے ہیں اُن سب کو مَیں نیست و نابود کر دوں گا۔ مَیں تیری قبر تیار کر رہا ہوں، کیونکہ تُو کچھ بھی نہیں ہے۔“

Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.

وہ دیکھو، پہاڑوں پر اُس کے قدم چل رہے ہیں جو امن و امان کی خوش خبری سناتا ہے۔ اے یہوداہ، اب اپنی عیدیں منا، اپنی مَنتیں پوری کر! کیونکہ آئندہ شیطانی آدمی تجھ میں نہیں گھسے گا، وہ سراسر مٹ گیا ہے۔
