Joshua 6

Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.

اُن دنوں میں اسرائیلیوں کی وجہ سے یریحو کے دروازے بند ہی رہے۔ نہ کوئی باہر نکلا، نہ کوئی اندر گیا۔

And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

رب نے یشوع سے کہا، ”مَیں نے یریحو کو اُس کے بادشاہ اور فوجی افسروں سمیت تیرے ہاتھ میں کر دیا ہے۔

And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.

جو اسرائیلی جنگ کے لئے تیرے ساتھ نکلیں گے اُن کے ساتھ شہر کی فصیل کے ساتھ ساتھ چل کر ایک چکر لگاؤ اور پھر خیمہ گاہ میں واپس آ جاؤ۔ چھ دن تک ایسا ہی کرو۔

And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

سات امام ایک ایک نرسنگا اُٹھائے عہد کے صندوق کے آگے آگے چلیں۔ پھر ساتویں دن شہر کے گرد سات چکر لگاؤ۔ ساتھ ساتھ امام نرسنگے بجاتے رہیں۔

And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

جب وہ نرسنگوں کو بجاتے بجاتے لمبی سی پھونک ماریں گے تو پھر تمام اسرائیلی بڑے زور سے جنگ کا نعرہ لگائیں۔ اِس پر شہر کی فصیل گر جائے گی اور تیرے لوگ ہر جگہ سیدھے شہر میں داخل ہو سکیں گے۔“

And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD.

یشوع بن نون نے اماموں کو بُلا کر اُن سے کہا، ”رب کے عہد کا صندوق اُٹھا کر میرے ساتھ چلیں۔ اور سات امام ایک ایک نرسنگا اُٹھائے صندوق کے آگے آگے چلیں۔“

And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the LORD.

پھر اُس نے باقی لوگوں سے کہا، ”آئیں، شہر کی فصیل کے ساتھ ساتھ چل کر ایک چکر لگائیں۔ مسلح آدمی رب کے صندوق کے آگے آگے چلیں۔“

And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.

سب کچھ یشوع کی ہدایات کے مطابق ہوا۔ سات امام نرسنگے بجاتے ہوئے رب کے آگے آگے چلے جبکہ رب کے عہد کا صندوق اُن کے پیچھے پیچھے تھا۔

And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rereward came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

مسلح آدمیوں میں سے کچھ بجانے والے اماموں کے آگے آگے اور کچھ صندوق کے پیچھے پیچھے چلنے لگے۔ اِتنے میں امام نرسنگے بجاتے رہے۔

And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.

لیکن یشوع نے باقی لوگوں کو حکم دیا تھا کہ اُس دن جنگ کا نعرہ نہ لگائیں۔ اُس نے کہا، ”جب تک مَیں حکم نہ دوں اُس وقت تک ایک لفظ بھی نہ بولنا۔ جب مَیں اشارہ دوں گا تو پھر ہی خوب نعرہ لگانا۔“

So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.

اِسی طرح رب کے صندوق نے شہر کی فصیل کے ساتھ ساتھ چل کر چکر لگایا۔ پھر لوگوں نے خیمہ گاہ میں لوٹ کر وہاں رات گزاری۔

And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.

اگلے دن یشوع صبح سویرے اُٹھا، اور اماموں اور فوجیوں نے دوسری مرتبہ شہر کا چکر لگایا۔ اُن کی وہی ترتیب تھی۔ پہلے کچھ مسلح آدمی، پھر سات نرسنگے بجانے والے امام، پھر رب کے عہد کا صندوق اُٹھانے والے امام اور آخر میں مزید کچھ مسلح آدمی تھے۔ چکر لگانے کے دوران امام نرسنگے بجاتے رہے۔

And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

اگلے دن یشوع صبح سویرے اُٹھا، اور اماموں اور فوجیوں نے دوسری مرتبہ شہر کا چکر لگایا۔ اُن کی وہی ترتیب تھی۔ پہلے کچھ مسلح آدمی، پھر سات نرسنگے بجانے والے امام، پھر رب کے عہد کا صندوق اُٹھانے والے امام اور آخر میں مزید کچھ مسلح آدمی تھے۔ چکر لگانے کے دوران امام نرسنگے بجاتے رہے۔

And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.

اِس دوسرے دن بھی وہ شہر کا چکر لگا کر خیمہ گاہ میں لوٹ آئے۔ اُنہوں نے چھ دن تک ایسا ہی کیا۔

And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.

ساتویں دن اُنہوں نے صبح سویرے اُٹھ کر شہر کا چکر یوں لگایا جیسے پہلے چھ دنوں میں، لیکن اِس دفعہ اُنہوں نے کُل سات چکر لگائے۔

And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.

ساتویں چکر پر اماموں نے نرسنگوں کو بجاتے ہوئے لمبی سی پھونک ماری۔ تب یشوع نے لوگوں سے کہا، ”جنگ کا نعرہ لگائیں، کیونکہ رب نے آپ کو یہ شہر دے دیا ہے۔

And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

شہر کو اور جو کچھ اُس میں ہے تباہ کر کے رب کے لئے مخصوص کرنا ہے۔ صرف راحب کسبی کو اُن لوگوں سمیت بچانا ہے جو اُس کے گھر میں ہیں۔ کیونکہ اُس نے ہمارے اُن جاسوسوں کو چھپا دیا جن کو ہم نے یہاں بھیجا تھا۔

And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

لیکن اللہ کے لئے مخصوص چیزوں کو ہاتھ نہ لگانا، کیونکہ اگر آپ اُن میں سے کچھ لے لیں تو اپنے آپ کو تباہ کریں گے بلکہ اسرائیلی خیمہ گاہ پر بھی تباہی اور آفت لائیں گے۔

But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.

جو کچھ بھی چاندی، سونے، پیتل یا لوہے سے بنا ہے وہ رب کے لئے مخصوص ہے۔ اُسے رب کے خزانے میں ڈالنا ہے۔“

So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

جب اماموں نے لمبی پھونک ماری تو اسرائیلیوں نے جنگ کے زوردار نعرے لگائے۔ اچانک یریحو کی فصیل گر گئی، اور ہر شخص اپنی اپنی جگہ پر سیدھا شہر میں داخل ہوا۔ یوں شہر اسرائیل کے قبضے میں آ گیا۔

And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

جو کچھ بھی شہر میں تھا اُسے اُنہوں نے تلوار سے مار کر رب کے لئے مخصوص کیا، خواہ مرد یا عورت، جوان یا بزرگ، گائےبَیل، بھیڑبکری یا گدھا تھا۔

But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot's house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.

جن دو آدمیوں نے ملک کی جاسوسی کی تھی اُن سے یشوع نے کہا، ”اب اپنی قَسم کا وعدہ پورا کریں۔ کسبی کے گھر میں جا کر اُسے اور اُس کے تمام گھر والوں کو نکال لائیں۔“

And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.

چنانچہ یہ جوان آدمی گئے اور راحب، اُس کے ماں باپ، بھائیوں اور باقی رشتے داروں کو اُس کی ملکیت سمیت نکال کر خیمہ گاہ سے باہر کہیں بسا دیا۔

And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.

پھر اُنہوں نے پورے شہر کو اور جو کچھ اُس میں تھا بھسم کر دیا۔ لیکن چاندی، سونے، پیتل اور لوہے کا تمام مال اُنہوں نے رب کے گھر کے خزانے میں ڈال دیا۔

And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

یشوع نے صرف راحب کسبی اور اُس کے گھر والوں کو بچائے رکھا، کیونکہ اُس نے اُن آدمیوں کو چھپا دیا تھا جنہیں یشوع نے یریحو بھیجا تھا۔ راحب آج تک اسرائیلیوں کے درمیان رہتی ہے۔

And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

اُس وقت یشوع نے قَسم کھائی، ”رب کی لعنت اُس پر ہو جو یریحو کا شہر نئے سرے سے تعمیر کرنے کی کوشش کرے۔ شہر کی بنیاد رکھتے وقت وہ اپنے پہلوٹھے سے محروم ہو جائے گا، اور اُس کے دروازوں کو کھڑا کرتے وقت وہ اپنے سب سے چھوٹے بیٹے سے ہاتھ دھو بیٹھے گا۔“

So the LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.

یوں رب یشوع کے ساتھ تھا، اور اُس کی شہرت پورے ملک میں پھیل گئی۔
