Joshua 12

12:1

Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:

درجِ ذیل دریائے یردن کے مشرق میں اُن بادشاہوں کی فہرست ہے جنہیں اسرائیلیوں نے شکست دی تھی اور جن کے علاقے پر اُنہوں نے قبضہ کیا تھا۔ یہ علاقہ جنوب میں وادیِ ارنون سے لے کر شمال میں حرمون پہاڑ تک تھا، اور اُس میں وادیِ یردن کا پورا مشرقی حصہ شامل تھا۔

12:2

Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and from the middle of the river, and from half Gilead, even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;

پہلے کا نام سیحون تھا۔ وہ اموریوں کا بادشاہ تھا اور اُس کا دار الحکومت حسبون تھا۔ عروعیر شہر یعنی وادیِ ارنون کے درمیان سے لے کر عمونیوں کی سرحد دریائے یبوق تک سارا علاقہ اُس کی گرفت میں تھا۔ اِس میں جِلعاد کا آدھا حصہ بھی شامل تھا۔

12:3

And from the plain to the sea of Chinneroth on the east, and unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea on the east, the way to Beth–jeshimoth; and from the south, under Ashdoth–pisgah:

اِس کے علاوہ سیحون کا قبضہ دریائے یردن کے پورے مشرقی کنارے پر کِنّرت یعنی گلیل کی جھیل سے لے کر بحیرۂ مُردار کے پاس شہر بیت یسیموت تک بلکہ اُس کے جنوب میں پہاڑی سلسلے پِسگہ کے دامن تک تھا۔

12:4

And the coast of Og king of Bashan, which was of the remnant of the giants, that dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei,

دوسرا بادشاہ جس نے شکست کھائی تھی بسن کا بادشاہ عوج تھا۔ وہ رفائیوں کے دیو قبیلے میں سے باقی رہ گیا تھا، اور اُس کی حکومت کے مرکز عستارات اور اِدرعی تھے۔

12:5

And reigned in mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all Bashan, unto the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and half Gilead, the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.

شمال میں اُس کی سلطنت کی سرحد حرمون پہاڑ تھی اور مشرق میں سلکہ شہر۔ بسن کا تمام علاقہ جسوریوں اور معکاتیوں کی سرحد تک اُس کے ہاتھ میں تھا اور اِسی طرح جِلعاد کا شمالی حصہ بادشاہ سیحون کی سرحد تک۔

12:6

Them did Moses the servant of the LORD and the children of Israel smite: and Moses the servant of the LORD gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

اسرائیل نے رب کے خادم موسیٰ کی راہنمائی میں اِن دو بادشاہوں پر فتح پائی تھی، اور موسیٰ نے یہ علاقہ روبن، جد اور منسّی کے آدھے قبیلے کے سپرد کیا تھا۔

12:7

And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baal–gad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;

درجِ ذیل دریائے یردن کے مغرب کے اُن بادشاہوں کی فہرست ہے جنہیں اسرائیلیوں نے یشوع کی راہنمائی میں شکست دی تھی اور جن کی سلطنت وادیِ لبنان کے شہر بعل جد سے لے کر سعیر کی طرف بڑھنے والے پہاڑ خلق تک تھی۔ بعد میں یشوع نے یہ سارا ملک اسرائیل کے قبیلوں میں تقسیم کر کے اُنہیں میراث میں دے دیا

12:8

In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:

یعنی پہاڑی علاقہ، مغرب کا نشیبی پہاڑی علاقہ، یردن کی وادی، اُس کے مغرب میں واقع پہاڑی ڈھلانیں، یہوداہ کا ریگستان اور دشتِ نجب۔ پہلے یہ سب کچھ حِتّیوں، اموریوں، کنعانیوں، فرِزّیوں، حِوّیوں اور یبوسیوں کے ہاتھ میں تھا۔ ذیل کے ہر شہر کا اپنا بادشاہ تھا، اور ہر ایک نے شکست کھائی:

12:9

The king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is beside Beth–el, one;

یریحو، عَی نزد بیت ایل،

12:10

The king of Jerusalem, one; the king of Hebron, one;

یروشلم، حبرون،

12:11

The king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one;

یرموت، لکیس،

The king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one;
