Isaiah 49

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.

اے جزیرو، سنو! اے دُوردراز قومو، دھیان دو! رب نے مجھے پیدائش سے پہلے ہی بُلایا، میری ماں کے پیٹ سے ہی میرے نام کو یاد کرتا آیا ہے۔

And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;

اُس نے میرے منہ کو تیز تلوار بنا کر مجھے اپنے ہاتھ کے سائے میں چھپائے رکھا، مجھے تیز تیر بنا کر اپنے ترکش میں پوشیدہ رکھا ہے۔

And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

وہ مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا، ”تُو میرا خادم اسرائیل ہے، جس کے ذریعے مَیں اپنا جلال ظاہر کروں گا۔“

Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.

مَیں تو بولا تھا، ”میری محنت مشقت بےسود تھی، مَیں نے اپنی طاقت بےفائدہ اور بےمقصد ضائع کر دی ہے۔ تاہم میرا حق اللہ کے ہاتھ میں ہے، میرا خدا ہی مجھے اجر دے گا۔“

And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.

لیکن اب رب مجھ سے ہم کلام ہوا ہے، وہ جو ماں کے پیٹ سے ہی مجھے اِس مقصد سے تشکیل دیتا آیا ہے کہ مَیں اُس کی خدمت کر کے یعقوب کی اولاد کو اُس کے پاس واپس لاؤں اور اسرائیل کو اُس کے حضور جمع کروں۔ رب ہی کے حضور میرا احترام کیا جائے گا، میرا خدا ہی میری قوت ہو گا۔

And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

وہی فرماتا ہے، ”تُو میری خدمت کر کے نہ صرف یعقوب کے قبیلے بحال کرے گا اور اُنہیں واپس لائے گا جنہیں مَیں نے محفوظ رکھا ہے بلکہ تُو اِس سے کہیں بڑھ کر کرے گا۔ کیونکہ مَیں تجھے دیگر اقوام کی روشنی بنا دوں گا تاکہ تُو میری نجات کو دنیا کی انتہا تک پہنچائے۔“

Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.

رب جو اسرائیل کا چھڑانے والا اور اُس کا قدوس ہے اُس سے ہم کلام ہوا ہے جسے لوگ حقیر جانتے ہیں، جس سے دیگر اقوام گھن کھاتے ہیں اور جو حکمرانوں کا غلام ہے۔ اُس سے رب فرماتا ہے، ”تجھے دیکھتے ہی بادشاہ کھڑے ہو جائیں گے اور رئیس منہ کے بل جھک جائیں گے۔ یہ رب کی خاطر ہی پیش آئے گا جو وفادار ہے اور اسرائیل کے قدوس کے باعث ہی وقوع پذیر ہو گا جس نے تجھے چن لیا ہے۔“

Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

رب فرماتا ہے، ”قبولیت کے وقت مَیں تیری سنوں گا، نجات کے دن تیری مدد کروں گا۔ تب مَیں تجھے محفوظ رکھ کر مقرر کروں گا کہ تُو میرے اور قوم کے درمیان عہد بنے، کہ تُو ملک بحال کر کے تباہ شدہ موروثی زمین کو نئے سرے سے تقسیم کرے،

That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.

کہ تُو قیدیوں کو کہے، ’نکل آؤ‘ اور تاریکی میں بسنے والوں کو، ’روشنی میں آ جاؤ!‘ تب میری بھیڑیں راستوں کے کنارے کنارے چریں گی، اور تمام بنجر بلندیوں پر بھی اُن کی ہری ہری چراگاہیں ہوں گی۔

They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.

نہ اُنہیں بھوک ستائے گی نہ پیاس۔ نہ تپتی گرمی، نہ دھوپ اُنہیں جُھلسائے گی۔ کیونکہ جو اُن پر ترس کھاتا ہے وہ اُن کی قیادت کر کے اُنہیں چشموں کے پاس لے جائے گا۔

And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.

مَیں پہاڑوں کو ہموار راستوں میں تبدیل کر دوں گا جبکہ میری شاہراہیں اونچی ہو جائیں گی۔

Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.

تب وہ دُوردراز علاقوں سے آئیں گے، کچھ شمال سے، کچھ مغرب سے، اور کچھ مصر کے جنوبی شہر اسوان سے بھی۔“

Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

اے آسمان، خوشی کے نعرے لگا! اے زمین، باغ باغ ہو جا! اے پہاڑو، شادمانی کے گیت گاؤ! کیونکہ رب نے اپنی قوم کو تسلی دی ہے، اُسے اپنے مصیبت زدہ لوگوں پر ترس آیا ہے۔

But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.

لیکن صیون کہتی ہے، ”رب نے مجھے ترک کر دیا ہے، قادرِ مطلق مجھے بھول گیا ہے۔“

Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

”یہ کیسے ہو سکتا ہے؟ کیا ماں اپنے شیرخوار کو بھول سکتی ہے؟ جس بچے کو اُس نے جنم دیا، کیا وہ اُس پر ترس نہیں کھائے گی؟ شاید وہ بھول جائے، لیکن مَیں تجھے کبھی نہیں بھولوں گا!

Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

دیکھ، مَیں نے تجھے اپنی دونوں ہتھیلیوں میں کندہ کر دیا ہے، تیری زمین بوس دیواریں ہمیشہ میرے سامنے ہیں۔

Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.

جو تجھے نئے سرے سے تعمیر کرنا چاہتے ہیں وہ دوڑ کر واپس آ رہے ہیں جبکہ جن لوگوں نے تجھے ڈھا کر تباہ کیا وہ تجھ سے نکل رہے ہیں۔

Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a bride doeth.

اے صیون بیٹی، نظر اُٹھا کر چاروں طرف دیکھ! یہ سب جمع ہو کر تیرے پاس آ رہے ہیں۔ میری حیات کی قَسم، یہ سب تیرے زیورات بنیں گے جن سے تُو اپنے آپ کو دُلھن کی طرح آراستہ کرے گی۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.

”فی الحال تیرے ملک میں چاروں طرف کھنڈرات، اُجاڑ اور تباہی نظر آتی ہے، لیکن آئندہ وہ اپنے باشندوں کی کثرت کے باعث چھوٹا ہو گا۔ اور جنہوں نے تجھے ہڑپ کر لیا تھا وہ دُور رہیں گے۔

The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.

پہلے تُو بےاولاد تھی، لیکن اب تیرے اِتنے بچے ہوں گے کہ وہ تیرے پاس آ کر کہیں گے، ’میرے لئے جگہ کم ہے، مجھے اَور زمین دیں تاکہ مَیں آرام سے زندگی گزار سکوں۔‘ تُو اپنے کانوں سے یہ سنے گی۔

Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?

تب تُو حیران ہو کر دل میں سوچے گی، ’کس نے یہ بچے میرے لئے پیدا کئے؟ مَیں تو بچوں سے محروم اور بےاولاد تھی، مجھے جلاوطن کر کے ہٹایا گیا تھا۔ کس نے اِن کو پالا؟ مجھے تو تنہا ہی چھوڑ دیا گیا تھا۔ تو پھر یہ کہاں سے آ گئے ہیں‘؟“

Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.

رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے، ”دیکھ، مَیں دیگر قوموں کو ہاتھ سے اشارہ دے کر اُن کے سامنے اپنا جھنڈا گاڑ دوں گا۔ تب وہ تیرے بیٹوں کو اُٹھا کر اپنے بازوؤں میں واپس لے آئیں گے اور تیری بیٹیوں کو کندھے پر بٹھا کر تیرے پاس پہنچائیں گے۔

And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.

بادشاہ تیرے بچوں کی دیکھ بھال کریں گے، اور رانیاں اُن کی دائیاں ہوں گی۔ وہ منہ کے بل جھک کر تیرے پاؤں کی خاک چاٹیں گے۔ تب تُو جان لے گی کہ مَیں ہی رب ہوں، کہ جو بھی مجھ سے اُمید رکھے وہ کبھی شرمندہ نہیں ہو گا۔“

Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?

کیا سورمے کا لُوٹا ہوا مال اُس کے ہاتھ سے چھینا جا سکتا ہے؟ یا کیا ظالم کے قیدی اُس کے قبضے سے چھوٹ سکتے ہیں؟ مشکل ہی سے۔

But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.

لیکن رب فرماتا ہے، ”یقیناً سورمے کا قیدی اُس کے ہاتھ سے چھین لیا جائے گا اور ظالم کا لُوٹا ہوا مال اُس کے قبضے سے چھوٹ جائے گا۔ جو تجھ سے جھگڑے اُس کے ساتھ مَیں خود جھگڑوں گا، مَیں ہی تیرے بچوں کو نجات دوں گا۔

And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

جنہوں نے تجھ پر ظلم کیا اُنہیں مَیں اُن کا اپنا گوشت کھلاؤں گا، اُن کا اپنا خون یوں پلاؤں گا کہ وہ اُسے نئی مَے کی طرح پی پی کر مست ہو جائیں گے۔ تب تمام انسان جان لیں گے کہ مَیں رب تیرا نجات دہندہ، تیرا چھڑانے والا اور یعقوب کا زبردست سورما ہوں۔“
