Haggai 1

1:1

In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,

فارس کے بادشاہ دارا کی حکومت کے دوسرے سال میں حجی نبی پر رب کا کلام نازل ہوا۔ چھٹے مہینے کا پہلا دن تھا۔ کلام میں اللہ یہوداہ کے گورنر زرُبابل بن سیالتی ایل اور امامِ اعظم یشوع بن یہوصدق سے مخاطب ہوا۔

Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built.

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ”یہ قوم کہتی ہے، ’ابھی رب کے گھر کو دوبارہ تعمیر کرنے کا وقت نہیں آیا۔‘

1:3

Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ”یہ قوم کہتی ہے، ’ابھی رب کے گھر کو دوبارہ تعمیر کرنے کا وقت نہیں آیا۔‘

1:4

Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?

کیا یہ ٹھیک ہے کہ تم خود لکڑی سے سجے ہوئے گھروں میں رہتے ہو جبکہ میرا گھر اب تک ملبے کا ڈھیر ہے؟“

Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ”اپنے حال پر غور کرو۔

1:6

Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

تم نے بہت بیج بویا لیکن کم فصل کاٹی ہے۔ تم کھانا تو کھاتے ہو لیکن بھوکے رہتے ہو، پانی تو پیتے ہو لیکن پیاسے رہتے ہو، کپڑے تو پہنتے ہو لیکن سردی لگتی ہے۔ اور جب کوئی پیسے کما کر اُنہیں اپنے بٹوے میں ڈالتا ہے تو اُس میں سوراخ ہیں۔“

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

رب الافواج فرماتا ہے، ”اپنے حال پر دھیان دے کر اُس کا صحیح نتیجہ نکالو!

1:8

Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.

پہاڑوں پر چڑھ کر لکڑی لے آؤ اور رب کے گھر کی تعمیر شروع کرو۔ ایسا ہی رویہ مجھے پسند ہو گا، اور اِس طرح ہی تم مجھے جلال دو گے۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

1:9

Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

”دیکھو، تم نے بہت برکت پانے کی توقع کی، لیکن کیا ہوا؟ کم ہی حاصل ہوا۔ اور جو کچھ تم اپنے گھر واپس لائے اُسے مَیں نے ہَوا میں اُڑا دیا۔ کیوں؟ مَیں، رب الافواج تمہیں اِس کی اصل وجہ بتاتا ہوں۔ میرا گھر اب تک ملبے کا ڈھیر ہے جبکہ تم میں سے ہر ایک اپنا اپنا گھر مضبوط کرنے کے لئے بھاگ دوڑ کر رہا ہے۔
