Deuteronomy 31

And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.

موسیٰ نے جا کر تمام اسرائیلیوں سے مزید کہا،

And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the LORD hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

”اب مَیں 120 سال کا ہو چکا ہوں۔ میرا چلنا پھرنا مشکل ہو گیا ہے۔ اور ویسے بھی رب نے مجھے بتایا ہے، ’تُو دریائے یردن کو پار نہیں کرے گا۔‘

The LORD thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the LORD hath said.

رب تیرا خدا خود تیرے آگے آگے جا کر یردن کو پار کرے گا۔ وہی تیرے آگے آگے اِن قوموں کو تباہ کرے گا تاکہ تُو اُن کے ملک پر قبضہ کر سکے۔ دریا کو پار کرتے وقت یشوع تیرے آگے چلے گا جس طرح رب نے فرمایا ہے۔

And the LORD shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and unto the land of them, whom he destroyed.

رب وہاں کے لوگوں کو بالکل اُسی طرح تباہ کرے گا جس طرح وہ اموریوں کو اُن کے بادشاہوں سیحون اور عوج سمیت تباہ کر چکا ہے۔

And the LORD shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you.

رب تمہیں اُن پر غالب آنے دے گا۔ اُس وقت تمہیں اُن کے ساتھ ویسا سلوک کرنا ہے جیسا مَیں نے تمہیں بتایا ہے۔

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

مضبوط اور دلیر ہو۔ اُن سے خوف نہ کھاؤ، کیونکہ رب تیرا خدا تیرے ساتھ چلتا ہے۔ وہ تجھے کبھی نہیں چھوڑے گا، تجھے کبھی ترک نہیں کرے گا۔“

And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.

اِس کے بعد موسیٰ نے تمام اسرائیلیوں کے سامنے یشوع کو بُلایا اور اُس سے کہا، ”مضبوط اور دلیر ہو، کیونکہ تُو اِس قوم کو اُس ملک میں لے جائے گا جس کا وعدہ رب نے قَسم کھا کر اُن کے باپ دادا سے کیا تھا۔ لازم ہے کہ تُو ہی اُسے تقسیم کر کے ہر قبیلے کو اُس کا موروثی علاقہ دے۔

And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

رب خود تیرے آگے آگے چلتے ہوئے تیرے ساتھ ہو گا۔ وہ تجھے کبھی نہیں چھوڑے گا، تجھے کبھی نہیں ترک کرے گا۔ خوف نہ کھانا، نہ گھبرانا۔“

And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and unto all the elders of Israel.

موسیٰ نے یہ پوری شریعت لکھ کر اسرائیل کے تمام بزرگوں اور لاوی کے قبیلے کے اُن اماموں کے سپرد کی جو سفر کرتے وقت عہد کا صندوق اُٹھا کر لے چلتے تھے۔ اُس نے اُن سے کہا،

And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,

”ہر سات سال کے بعد اِس شریعت کی تلاوت کرنا، یعنی بحالی کے سال میں جب تمام قرض منسوخ کئے جاتے ہیں۔ تلاوت اُس وقت کرنا ہے جب اسرائیلی جھونپڑیوں کی عید کے لئے رب اپنے خدا کے سامنے اُس جگہ حاضر ہوں گے جو وہ مقدِس کے لئے چنے گا۔

When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

”ہر سات سال کے بعد اِس شریعت کی تلاوت کرنا، یعنی بحالی کے سال میں جب تمام قرض منسوخ کئے جاتے ہیں۔ تلاوت اُس وقت کرنا ہے جب اسرائیلی جھونپڑیوں کی عید کے لئے رب اپنے خدا کے سامنے اُس جگہ حاضر ہوں گے جو وہ مقدِس کے لئے چنے گا۔

Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:

تمام لوگوں کو مردوں، عورتوں، بچوں اور پردیسیوں سمیت وہاں جمع کرنا تاکہ وہ سن کر سیکھیں، رب تمہارے خدا کا خوف مانیں اور احتیاط سے اِس شریعت کی باتوں پر عمل کریں۔

And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

لازم ہے کہ اُن کی اولاد جو اِس شریعت سے ناواقف ہے اِسے سنے اور سیکھے تاکہ عمر بھر اُس ملک میں رب تمہارے خدا کا خوف مانے جس پر تم دریائے یردن کو پار کر کے قبضہ کرو گے۔“

And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.

رب نے موسیٰ سے کہا، ”اب تیری موت قریب ہے۔ یشوع کو بُلا کر اُس کے ساتھ ملاقات کے خیمے میں حاضر ہو جا۔ وہاں مَیں اُسے اُس کی ذمہ داریاں سونپوں گا۔“ موسیٰ اور یشوع آ کر خیمے میں حاضر ہوئے

And the LORD appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle.

تو رب خیمے کے دروازے پر بادل کے ستون میں ظاہر ہوا۔

And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.

اُس نے موسیٰ سے کہا، ”تُو جلد ہی مر کر اپنے باپ دادا سے جا ملے گا۔ لیکن یہ قوم ملک میں داخل ہونے پر زنا کر کے اُس کے اجنبی دیوتاؤں کی پیروی کرنے لگ جائے گی۔ وہ مجھے ترک کر کے وہ عہد توڑ دے گی جو مَیں نے اُن کے ساتھ باندھا ہے۔

Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?

پھر میرا غضب اُن پر بھڑکے گا۔ مَیں اُنہیں چھوڑ کر اپنا چہرہ اُن سے چھپا لوں گا۔ تب اُنہیں کچا چبا لیا جائے گا اور بہت ساری ہیبت ناک مصیبتیں اُن پر آئیں گی۔ اُس وقت وہ کہیں گے، ’کیا یہ مصیبتیں اِس وجہ سے ہم پر نہیں آئیں کہ رب ہمارے ساتھ نہیں ہے؟‘

And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.

اور ایسا ہی ہو گا۔ مَیں ضرور اپنا چہرہ اُن سے چھپائے رکھوں گا، کیونکہ دیگر معبودوں کے پیچھے چلنے سے اُنہوں نے ایک نہایت شریر قدم اُٹھایا ہو گا۔

Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

اب ذیل کا گیت لکھ کر اسرائیلیوں کو یوں سکھاؤ کہ وہ زبانی یاد رہے اور میرے لئے اُن کے خلاف گواہی دیا کرے۔

For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.

کیونکہ مَیں اُنہیں اُس ملک میں لے جا رہا ہوں جس کا وعدہ مَیں نے قَسم کھا کر اُن کے باپ دادا سے کیا تھا، اُس ملک میں جس میں دودھ اور شہد کی کثرت ہے۔ وہاں اِتنی خوراک ہو گی کہ اُن کی بھوک جاتی رہے گی اور وہ موٹے ہو جائیں گے۔ لیکن پھر وہ دیگر معبودوں کے پیچھے لگ جائیں گے اور اُن کی خدمت کریں گے۔ وہ مجھے رد کریں گے اور میرا عہد توڑیں گے۔

And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.

نتیجے میں اُن پر بہت ساری ہیبت ناک مصیبتیں آئیں گی۔ پھر یہ گیت جو اُن کی اولاد کو یاد رہے گا اُن کے خلاف گواہی دے گا۔ کیونکہ گو مَیں اُنہیں اُس ملک میں لے جا رہا ہوں جس کا وعدہ مَیں نے قَسم کھا کر اُن سے کیا تھا توبھی مَیں جانتا ہوں کہ وہ اب تک کس طرح کی سوچ رکھتے ہیں۔“

Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.

موسیٰ نے اُسی دن یہ گیت لکھ کر اسرائیلیوں کو سکھایا۔

And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee.

پھر رب نے یشوع بن نون سے کہا، ”مضبوط اور دلیر ہو، کیونکہ تُو اسرائیلیوں کو اُس ملک میں لے جائے گا جس کا وعدہ مَیں نے قَسم کھا کر اُن سے کیا تھا۔ مَیں خود تیرے ساتھ ہوں گا۔“

And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,

جب موسیٰ نے پوری شریعت کو کتاب میں لکھ لیا

That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,

تو وہ اُن لاویوں سے مخاطب ہوا جو سفر کرتے وقت عہد کا صندوق اُٹھا کر لے جاتے تھے۔

Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

”شریعت کی یہ کتاب لے کر رب اپنے خدا کے عہد کے صندوق کے پاس رکھنا۔ وہاں وہ پڑی رہے اور تیرے خلاف گواہی دیتی رہے۔

For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?

کیونکہ مَیں خوب جانتا ہوں کہ تُو کتنا سرکش اور ہٹ دھرم ہے۔ میری موجودگی میں بھی تم نے کتنی دفعہ رب سے سرکشی کی۔ تو پھر میرے مرنے کے بعد تم کیا کچھ نہیں کرو گے!

Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them.

اب میرے سامنے اپنے قبیلوں کے تمام بزرگوں اور نگہبانوں کو جمع کرو تاکہ وہ خود میری یہ باتیں سنیں اور آسمان اور زمین اُن کے خلاف گواہ ہوں۔

For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.

کیونکہ مجھے معلوم ہے کہ میری موت کے بعد تم ضرور بگڑ جاؤ گے اور اُس راستے سے ہٹ جاؤ گے جس پر چلنے کی مَیں نے تمہیں تاکید کی ہے۔ آخرکار تم پر مصیبت آئے گی، کیونکہ تم وہ کچھ کرو گے جو رب کو بُرا لگتا ہے، تم اپنے ہاتھوں کے کام سے اُسے غصہ دلاؤ گے۔“

And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended.

پھر موسیٰ نے اسرائیل کی تمام جماعت کے سامنے یہ گیت شروع سے لے کر آخر تک پیش کیا،
