Daniel 6

It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;

دارا نے سلطنت کے تمام صوبوں پر 120 صوبے دار متعین کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا۔

And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.

اُن پر تین وزیر مقرر تھے جن میں سے ایک دانیال تھا۔ گورنر اُن کے سامنے جواب دہ تھے تاکہ بادشاہ کو نقصان نہ پہنچے۔

Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

جلد ہی پتا چلا کہ دانیال دوسرے وزیروں اور صوبے داروں پر سبقت رکھتا تھا، کیونکہ وہ غیرمعمولی ذہانت کا مالک تھا۔ نتیجتاً بادشاہ نے اُسے پوری سلطنت پر مقرر کرنے کا ارادہ کیا۔

Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

جب دیگر وزیروں اور صوبے داروں کو یہ بات معلوم ہوئی تو وہ دانیال پر الزام لگانے کا بہانہ ڈھونڈنے لگے۔ لیکن وہ اپنی ذمہ داریوں کو نبھانے میں اِتنا قابلِ اعتماد تھا کہ وہ ناکام رہے۔ کیونکہ نہ وہ رشوت خور تھا، نہ کسی کام میں سُست۔

Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

آخرکار وہ آدمی آپس میں کہنے لگے، ”اِس طریقے سے ہمیں دانیال پر الزام لگانے کا موقع نہیں ملے گا۔ لیکن ایک بات ہے جو الزام کا باعث بن سکتی ہے یعنی اُس کے خدا کی شریعت۔“

Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.

تب وہ گروہ کی صورت میں بادشاہ کے سامنے حاضر ہوئے اور کہنے لگے، ”دارا بادشاہ ابد تک جیتے رہیں!

All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

سلطنت کے تمام وزیر، گورنر، صوبے دار، مشیر اور منتظم آپس میں مشورہ کر کے متفق ہوئے ہیں کہ اگلے 30 دن کے دوران سب کو صرف بادشاہ سے دعا کرنی چاہئے۔ بادشاہ ایک فرمان صادر کریں کہ جو بھی کسی اَور معبود یا انسان سے التجا کرے اُسے شیروں کی ماند میں پھینکا جائے گا۔ دھیان دینا چاہئے کہ سب ہی اِس پر عمل کریں۔

Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

اے بادشاہ، گزارش ہے کہ آپ یہ فرمان ضرور صادر کریں بلکہ لکھ کر اُس کی تصدیق بھی کریں تاکہ اُسے تبدیل نہ کیا جا سکے۔ تب وہ مادیوں اور فارسیوں کے قوانین کا حصہ بن کر منسوخ نہیں کیا جا سکے گا۔“

Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.

دارا بادشاہ مان گیا۔ اُس نے فرمان لکھوا کر اُس کی تصدیق کی۔

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

جب دانیال کو معلوم ہوا کہ فرمان صادر ہوا ہے تو وہ سیدھا اپنے گھر میں چلا گیا۔ چھت پر ایک کمرا تھا جس کی کھلی کھڑکیوں کا رُخ یروشلم کی طرف تھا۔ اِس کمرے میں دانیال روزانہ تین بار اپنے گھٹنے ٹیک کر دعا اور اپنے خدا کی ستائش کرتا تھا۔ اب بھی اُس نے یہ سلسلہ جاری رکھا۔

Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

جوں ہی دانیال اپنے خدا سے دعا اور التجا کر رہا تھا تو اُس کے دشمنوں نے گروہ کی صورت میں گھر میں گھس کر اُسے یہ کرتے ہوئے پایا۔

Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

تب وہ بادشاہ کے پاس گئے اور اُسے شاہی فرمان کی یاد دلائی، ”کیا آپ نے فرمان صادر نہیں کیا تھا کہ اگلے 30 دن کے دوران سب کو صرف بادشاہ سے دعا کرنی ہے، اور جو کسی اَور معبود یا انسان سے التجا کرے اُسے شیروں کی ماند میں پھینکا جائے گا؟“ بادشاہ نے جواب دیا، ”جی، یہ فرمان قائم ہے بلکہ مادیوں اور فارسیوں کے قوانین کا حصہ ہے جو منسوخ نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔“

Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.

اُنہوں نے کہا، ”اے بادشاہ، دانیال جو یہوداہ کے جلاوطنوں میں سے ہے نہ آپ کی پروا کرتا، نہ اُس فرمان کی جس کی آپ نے لکھ کر تصدیق کی۔ ابھی تک وہ روزانہ تین بار اپنے خدا سے دعا کرتا ہے۔“

Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.

یہ سن کر بادشاہ کو بڑی دقت محسوس ہوئی۔ پورا دن وہ سوچتا رہا کہ مَیں دانیال کو کس طرح بچاؤں۔ سورج کے غروب ہونے تک وہ اُسے چھڑانے کے لئے کوشاں رہا۔

Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.

لیکن آخرکار وہ آدمی گروہ کی صورت میں دوبارہ بادشاہ کے حضور آئے اور کہنے لگے، ”بادشاہ کو یاد رہے کہ مادیوں اور فارسیوں کے قوانین کے مطابق جو بھی فرمان بادشاہ صادر کرے اُسے تبدیل نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔“

Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

چنانچہ بادشاہ نے حکم دیا کہ دانیال کو پکڑ کر شیروں کی ماند میں پھینکا جائے۔ ایسا ہی ہوا۔ بادشاہ بولا، ”اے دانیال، جس خدا کی عبادت تم بلاناغہ کرتے آئے ہو وہ تمہیں بچائے۔“

And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.

پھر ماند کے منہ پر پتھر رکھا گیا، اور بادشاہ نے اپنی مُہر اور اپنے بڑوں کی مُہریں اُس پر لگائیں تاکہ کوئی بھی اُسے کھول کر دانیال کی مدد نہ کرے۔

Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.

اِس کے بعد بادشاہ شاہی محل میں واپس چلا گیا اور پوری رات روزہ رکھے ہوئے گزاری۔ نہ کچھ اُس کا دل بہلانے کے لئے اُس کے پاس لایا گیا، نہ اُسے نیند آئی۔

Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.

جب پَو پھٹنے لگی تو وہ اُٹھ کر شیروں کی ماند کے پاس گیا۔

And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

اُس کے قریب پہنچ کر بادشاہ نے غمگین آواز سے پکارا، ”اے زندہ خدا کے بندے دانیال، کیا تمہارے خدا جس کی تم بلاناغہ عبادت کرتے رہے ہو تمہیں شیروں سے بچا سکا؟“

Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.

دانیال نے جواب دیا، ”بادشاہ ابد تک جیتے رہیں!

My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

میرے خدا نے اپنے فرشتے کو بھیج دیا جس نے شیروں کے منہ کو بند کئے رکھا۔ اُنہوں نے مجھے کوئی بھی نقصان نہ پہنچایا، کیونکہ اللہ کے سامنے مَیں بےقصور ہوں۔ بادشاہ سلامت کے خلاف بھی مجھ سے جرم نہیں ہوا۔“

Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

یہ سن کر بادشاہ آپے میں نہ سمایا۔ اُس نے دانیال کو ماند سے نکالنے کا حکم دیا۔ جب اُسے کھینچ کر نکالا گیا تو معلوم ہوا کہ اُسے کوئی بھی نقصان نہیں پہنچا۔ یوں اُسے اللہ پر بھروسا رکھنے کا اجر ملا۔

And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.

لیکن جن آدمیوں نے دانیال پر الزام لگایا تھا اُن کا بُرا انجام ہوا۔ بادشاہ کے حکم پر اُنہیں اُن کے بال بچوں سمیت شیروں کی ماند میں پھینکا گیا۔ ماند کے فرش پر گرنے سے پہلے ہی شیر اُن پر جھپٹ پڑے اور اُنہیں پھاڑ کر اُن کی ہڈیوں کو چبا لیا۔

Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

پھر دارا بادشاہ نے سلطنت کی تمام قوموں، اُمّتوں اور اہلِ زبان کو ذیل کا پیغام بھیجا، ”سب کی سلامتی ہو!

I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.

میرا فرمان سنو! لازم ہے کہ میری سلطنت کی ہر جگہ لوگ دانیال کے خدا کے سامنے تھرتھرائیں اور اُس کا خوف مانیں۔ کیونکہ وہ زندہ خدا اور ابد تک قائم ہے۔ نہ کبھی اُس کی بادشاہی تباہ، نہ اُس کی حکومت ختم ہو گی۔

He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

وہی بچاتا اور نجات دیتا ہے، وہی آسمان و زمین پر الٰہی نشان اور معجزے دکھاتا ہے۔ اُسی نے دانیال کو شیروں کے قبضے سے بچایا۔“

So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

چنانچہ دانیال کو دارا بادشاہ اور فارس کے بادشاہ خورس کے دورِ حکومت میں بہت کامیابی حاصل ہوئی۔
