Daniel 2

And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.

اپنی حکومت کے دوسرے سال میں نبوکدنضر نے خواب دیکھا۔ خواب اِتنا ہول ناک تھا کہ وہ گھبرا کر جاگ اُٹھا۔

Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

اُس نے حکم دیا کہ تمام قسمت کا حال بتانے والے، جادوگر، افسوں گر اور نجومی میرے پاس آ کر خواب کا مطلب بتائیں۔ جب وہ حاضر ہوئے

And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.

تو بادشاہ بولا، ”مَیں نے ایک خواب دیکھا ہے جو مجھے بہت پریشان کر رہا ہے۔ اب مَیں اُس کا مطلب جاننا چاہتا ہوں۔“

Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.

نجومیوں نے اَرامی زبان میں جواب دیا، ”بادشاہ سلامت اپنے خادموں کے سامنے یہ خواب بیان کریں تو ہم اُس کی تعبیر کریں گے۔“

The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.

لیکن بادشاہ بولا، ”نہیں، تم ہی مجھے وہ کچھ بتاؤ اور اُس کی تعبیر کرو جو مَیں نے خواب میں دیکھا۔ اگر تم یہ نہ کر سکو تو مَیں حکم دوں گا کہ تمہیں ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر دیا جائے اور تمہارے گھر کچرے کے ڈھیر ہو جائیں۔ یہ میرا مصمم ارادہ ہے۔

But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.

لیکن اگر تم مجھے وہ کچھ بتا کر اُس کی تعبیر کرو جو مَیں نے خواب میں دیکھا تو مَیں تمہیں اچھے تحفے اور انعام دوں گا، نیز تمہاری خاص عزت کروں گا۔ اب شروع کرو! مجھے وہ کچھ بتاؤ اور اُس کی تعبیر کرو جو مَیں نے خواب میں دیکھا۔“

They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.

ایک بار پھر اُنہوں نے منت کی، ”بادشاہ اپنے خادموں کے سامنے اپنا خواب بتائیں تو ہم ضرور اُس کی تعبیر کریں گے۔“

The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.

بادشاہ نے جواب دیا، ”مجھے صاف پتا ہے کہ تم کیا کر رہے ہو! تم صرف ٹال مٹول کر رہے ہو، کیونکہ تم سمجھ گئے ہو کہ میرا ارادہ پکا ہے۔

But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.

اگر تم مجھے خواب نہ بتاؤ تو تم سب کو ایک ہی سزا دی جائے گی۔ کیونکہ تم سب جھوٹ اور غلط باتیں پیش کرنے پر متفق ہو گئے ہو، یہ اُمید رکھتے ہوئے کہ حالات کسی وقت بدل جائیں گے۔ مجھے خواب بتاؤ تو مجھے پتا چل جائے گا کہ تم مجھے اُس کی صحیح تعبیر پیش کر سکتے ہو۔“

The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.

نجومیوں نے اعتراض کیا، ”دنیا میں کوئی بھی انسان وہ کچھ نہیں کر پاتا جو بادشاہ مانگتے ہیں۔ یہ کبھی ہوا بھی نہیں کہ کسی بادشاہ نے ایسی بات کسی قسمت کا حال بتانے والے، جادوگر یا نجومی سے طلب کی، خواہ بادشاہ کتنا عظیم کیوں نہ تھا۔

And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.

جس چیز کا تقاضا بادشاہ کرتے ہیں وہ حد سے زیادہ مشکل ہے۔ صرف دیوتا ہی یہ بات بادشاہ پر ظاہر کر سکتے ہیں، لیکن وہ تو انسان کے درمیان رہتے نہیں۔“

For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

یہ سن کر بادشاہ آگ بگولا ہو گیا۔ بڑے غصے میں اُس نے حکم دیا کہ بابل کے تمام دانش مندوں کو سزائے موت دی جائے۔

And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.

فرمان صادر ہوا کہ دانش مندوں کو مار ڈالنا ہے۔ چنانچہ دانیال اور اُس کے دوستوں کو بھی تلاش کیا گیا تاکہ اُنہیں سزائے موت دیں۔

Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:

شاہی محافظوں کا افسر بنام اریوک ابھی دانش مندوں کو مار ڈالنے کے لئے روانہ ہوا کہ دانیال بڑی حکمت اور موقع شناسی سے اُس سے مخاطب ہوا۔

He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.

اُس نے افسر سے پوچھا، ”بادشاہ نے اِتنا سخت فرمان کیوں جاری کیا؟“ اریوک نے دانیال کو سارا معاملہ بیان کیا۔

Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.

دانیال فوراً بادشاہ کے پاس گیا اور اُس سے درخواست کی، ”ذرا مجھے کچھ مہلت دیجئے تاکہ مَیں بادشاہ کے خواب کی تعبیر کر سکوں۔“

Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

پھر وہ اپنے گھر واپس گیا اور اپنے دوستوں حننیاہ، میسائیل اور عزریاہ کو تمام صورتِ حال سنائی۔

That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

وہ بولا، ”آسمان کے خدا سے التجا کریں کہ وہ مجھ پر رحم کرے۔ منت کریں کہ وہ میرے لئے بھید کھولے تاکہ ہم دیگر دانش مندوں کے ساتھ ہلاک نہ ہو جائیں۔“

Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

رات کے وقت دانیال نے رویا دیکھی جس میں اُس کے لئے بھید کھولا گیا۔ تب اُس نے آسمان کے خدا کی حمد و ثنا کی،

Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

”اللہ کے نام کی تمجید ازل سے ابد تک ہو۔ وہی حکمت اور قوت کا مالک ہے۔

And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

وہی اوقات اور زمانے بدلنے دیتا ہے۔ وہی بادشاہوں کو تخت پر بٹھا دیتا اور اُنہیں تخت پر سے اُتار دیتا ہے۔ وہی دانش مندوں کو دانائی اور سمجھ داروں کو سمجھ عطا کرتا ہے۔

He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

وہی گہری اور پوشیدہ باتیں ظاہر کرتا ہے۔ جو کچھ اندھیرے میں چھپا رہتا ہے اُس کا علم وہ رکھتا ہے، کیونکہ وہ روشنی سے گھرا رہتا ہے۔

I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.

اے میرے باپ دادا کے خدا، مَیں تیری حمد و ثنا کرتا ہوں! تُو نے مجھے حکمت اور طاقت عطا کی ہے۔ جو بات ہم نے تجھ سے مانگی وہ تُو نے ہم پر ظاہر کی، کیونکہ تُو نے ہم پر بادشاہ کا خواب ظاہر کیا ہے۔“

Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.

پھر دانیال اریوک کے پاس گیا جسے بادشاہ نے بابل کے دانش مندوں کو سزائے موت دینے کی ذمہ داری دی تھی۔ اُس نے اُس سے درخواست کی، ”بابل کے دانش مندوں کو موت کے گھاٹ نہ اُتاریں، کیونکہ مَیں بادشاہ کے خواب کی تعبیر کر سکتا ہوں۔ مجھے بادشاہ کے حضور پہنچا دیں تو مَیں اُنہیں سب کچھ بتا دوں گا۔“

Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.

یہ سن کر اریوک بھاگ کر دانیال کو بادشاہ کے حضور لے گیا۔ وہ بولا، ”مجھے یہوداہ کے جلاوطنوں میں سے ایک آدمی مل گیا جو بادشاہ کو خواب کا مطلب بتا سکتا ہے۔“

The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?

تب نبوکدنضر نے دانیال سے جو بیل طَشَضَر کہلاتا تھا پوچھا، ”کیا تم مجھے وہ کچھ بتا سکتے ہو جو مَیں نے خواب میں دیکھا؟ کیا تم اُس کی تعبیر کر سکتے ہو؟“

Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;

دانیال نے جواب دیا، ”جو بھید بادشاہ جاننا چاہتے ہیں اُسے کھولنے کی کنجی کسی بھی دانش مند، جادوگر، قسمت کا حال بتانے والے یا غیب دان کے پاس نہیں ہوتی۔

But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;

لیکن آسمان پر ایک خدا ہے جو بھیدوں کا مطلب انسان پر ظاہر کر دیتا ہے۔ اُسی نے نبوکدنضر بادشاہ کو دکھایا کہ آنے والے دنوں میں کیا کچھ پیش آئے گا۔ سوتے وقت آپ نے خواب میں رویا دیکھی۔

As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.

اے بادشاہ، جب آپ پلنگ پر لیٹے ہوئے تھے تو آپ کے ذہن میں آنے والے دنوں کے بارے میں خیالات اُبھر آئے۔ تب بھیدوں کو کھولنے والے خدا نے آپ پر ظاہر کیا کہ آنے والے دنوں میں کیا کچھ پیش آئے گا۔

But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.

اِس بھید کا مطلب مجھ پر ظاہر ہوا ہے، لیکن اِس لئے نہیں کہ مجھے دیگر تمام دانش مندوں سے زیادہ حکمت حاصل ہے بلکہ اِس لئے کہ آپ کو بھید کا مطلب معلوم ہو جائے اور آپ سمجھ سکیں کہ آپ کے ذہن میں کیا کچھ اُبھر آیا ہے۔

Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.

اے بادشاہ، رویا میں آپ نے اپنے سامنے ایک بڑا اور لمبا تڑنگا مجسمہ دیکھا جو تیزی سے چمک رہا تھا۔ شکل و صورت ایسی تھی کہ انسان کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو جاتے تھے۔

This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,

سر خالص سونے کا تھا جبکہ سینہ اور بازو چاندی کے، پیٹ اور ران پیتل کی

His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.

اور پنڈلیاں لوہے کی تھیں۔ اُس کے پاؤں کا آدھا حصہ لوہا اور آدھا حصہ پکی ہوئی مٹی تھا۔

Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

آپ اِس منظر پر غور ہی کر رہے تھے کہ اچانک کسی پہاڑی ڈھلان سے پتھر کا بڑا ٹکڑا الگ ہوا۔ یہ بغیر کسی انسانی ہاتھ کے ہوا۔ پتھر دھڑام سے مجسمے کے لوہے اور مٹی کے پاؤں پر گر کر دونوں کو چُور چُور کر دیا۔

Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

نتیجے میں پورا مجسمہ پاش پاش ہو گیا۔ جتنا بھی لوہا، مٹی، پیتل، چاندی اور سونا تھا وہ اُس بھوسے کی مانند بن گیا جو گاہتے وقت باقی رہ جاتا ہے۔ ہَوا نے سب کچھ یوں اُڑا دیا کہ اِن چیزوں کا نام و نشان تک نہ رہا۔ لیکن جس پتھر نے مجسمے کو گرا دیا وہ زبردست پہاڑ بن کر اِتنا بڑھ گیا کہ پوری دنیا اُس سے بھر گئی۔

This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.

یہی بادشاہ کا خواب تھا۔ اب ہم بادشاہ کو خواب کا مطلب بتاتے ہیں۔

Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.

اے بادشاہ، آپ شہنشاہ ہیں۔ آسمان کے خدا نے آپ کو سلطنت، قوت، طاقت اور عزت سے نوازا ہے۔

And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.

اُس نے انسان کو جنگلی جانوروں اور پرندوں سمیت آپ ہی کے حوالے کر دیا ہے۔ جہاں بھی وہ بستے ہیں اُس نے آپ کو ہی اُن پرمقرر کیا ہے۔ آپ ہی مذکورہ سونے کا سر ہیں۔

And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.

آپ کے بعد ایک اَور سلطنت قائم ہو جائے گی، لیکن اُس کی طاقت آپ کی سلطنت سے کم ہو گی۔ پھر پیتل کی ایک تیسری سلطنت وجود میں آئے گی جو پوری دنیا پر حکومت کرے گی۔

And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.

آخر میں ایک چوتھی سلطنت آئے گی جو لوہے جیسی طاقت ور ہو گی۔ جس طرح لوہا سب کچھ توڑ کر پاش پاش کر دیتا ہے اُسی طرح وہ دیگر سب کو توڑ کر پاش پاش کرے گی۔

And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.

آپ نے دیکھا کہ مجسمے کے پاؤں اور اُنگلیوں میں کچھ لوہا اور کچھ پکی ہوئی مٹی تھی۔ اِس کا مطلب ہے، اِس سلطنت کے دو الگ حصے ہوں گے۔ لیکن جس طرح خواب میں مٹی کے ساتھ لوہا ملایا گیا تھا اُسی طرح چوتھی سلطنت میں لوہے کی کچھ نہ کچھ طاقت ہو گی۔

And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

خواب میں پاؤں کی اُنگلیوں میں کچھ لوہا بھی تھا اور کچھ مٹی بھی۔ اِس کا مطلب ہے، چوتھی سلطنت کا ایک حصہ طاقت ور اور دوسرا نازک ہو گا۔

And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

لوہے اور مٹی کی ملاوٹ کا مطلب ہے کہ گو لوگ آپس میں شادی کرنے سے ایک دوسرے کے ساتھ متحد ہونے کی کوشش کریں گے توبھی وہ ایک دوسرے سے پیوست نہیں رہیں گے، بالکل اُسی طرح جس طرح لوہا مٹی کے ساتھ پیوست نہیں رہ سکتا۔

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

جب یہ بادشاہ حکومت کریں گے، اُن ہی دنوں میں آسمان کا خدا ایک بادشاہی قائم کرے گا جو نہ کبھی تباہ ہو گی، نہ کسی دوسری قوم کے ہاتھ میں آئے گی۔ یہ بادشاہی اِن دیگر تمام سلطنتوں کو پاش پاش کر کے ختم کرے گی، لیکن خود ابد تک قائم رہے گی۔

Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

یہی خواب میں اُس پتھر کا مطلب ہے جس نے بغیر کسی انسانی ہاتھ کے پہاڑی ڈھلان سے الگ ہو کر مجسمے کے لوہے، پیتل، مٹی، چاندی اور سونے کو پاش پاش کر دیا۔ اِس طریقے سے عظیم خدا نے بادشاہ پر ظاہر کیا ہے کہ مستقبل میں کیا کچھ پیش آئے گا۔ یہ خواب قابلِ اعتماد اور اُس کی تعبیر صحیح ہے۔“

Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.

یہ سن کر نبوکدنضر بادشاہ نے اوندھے منہ ہو کر دانیال کو سجدہ کیا اور حکم دیا کہ دانیال کو غلہ اور بخور کی قربانیاں پیش کی جائیں۔

The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.

دانیال سے اُس نے کہا، ”یقیناً، تمہارا خدا خداؤں کا خدا اور بادشاہوں کا مالک ہے۔ وہ واقعی بھیدوں کو کھولتا ہے، ورنہ تم یہ بھید میرے لئے کھول نہ پاتے۔“

Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.

نبوکدنضر نے دانیال کو بڑا عُہدہ اور متعدد بیش قیمت تحفے دیئے۔ اُس نے اُسے پورے صوبہ بابل کا گورنر بنا دیا۔ ساتھ ساتھ دانیال بابل کے تمام دانش مندوں پر مقرر ہوا۔

Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

اُس کی گزارش پر بادشاہ نے سدرک، میسک اور عبدنجو کو صوبہ بابل کی انتظامیہ پر مقرر کیا۔ دانیال خود شاہی دربار میں حاضر رہتا تھا۔
