Amos 7

Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.

رب قادرِ مطلق نے مجھے رویا دکھائی۔ مَیں نے دیکھا کہ اللہ ٹڈیوں کے غول پیدا کر رہا ہے۔ اُس وقت پہلی گھاس کی کٹائی ہو چکی تھی، وہ گھاس جو بادشاہ کے لئے مقرر تھی۔ اب گھاس دوبارہ اُگنے لگی تھی۔

And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

تب ٹڈیاں ملک کی پوری ہریالی پر ٹوٹ پڑیں اور سب کچھ کھا گئیں۔ مَیں چلّا اُٹھا، ”اے رب قادرِ مطلق، مہربانی کر کے معاف کر، ورنہ یعقوب کس طرح قائم رہے گا؟ وہ پہلے سے اِتنی چھوٹی قوم ہے۔“

The LORD repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD.

تب رب پچھتایا اور فرمایا، ”جو کچھ تُو نے دیکھا وہ پیش نہیں آئے گا۔“

Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.

پھر رب قادرِ مطلق نے مجھے ایک اَور رویا دکھائی۔ مَیں نے دیکھا کہ رب قادرِ مطلق آگ کی بارش بُلا رہا ہے تاکہ ملک پر برسے۔ آگ نے سمندر کی گہرائیوں کو خشک کر دیا، پھر ملک میں پھیلنے لگی۔

Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

تب مَیں چلّا اُٹھا، ”اے رب قادرِ مطلق، مہربانی کر کے اِس سے باز آ، ورنہ یعقوب کس طرح قائم رہے گا؟ وہ پہلے سے اِتنی چھوٹی قوم ہے۔“

The LORD repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD.

تب رب دوبارہ پچھتایا اور فرمایا، ”یہ بھی پیش نہیں آئے گا۔“

Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.

اِس کے بعد رب نے مجھے ایک تیسری رویا دکھائی۔ مَیں نے دیکھا کہ قادرِ مطلق ایک ایسی دیوار پر کھڑا ہے جو ساہول سے ناپ ناپ کر تعمیر کی گئی ہے۔ اُس کے ہاتھ میں ساہول تھا۔

And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

رب نے مجھ سے پوچھا، ”اے عاموس، تجھے کیا نظر آتا ہے؟“ مَیں نے جواب دیا، ”ساہول۔“ تب رب نے فرمایا، ”مَیں اپنی قوم اسرائیل کے درمیان ساہول لگانے والا ہوں۔ آئندہ مَیں اُن کے گناہوں کو نظرانداز نہیں کروں گا بلکہ ناپ ناپ کر اُن کو سزا دوں گا۔

And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

اُن بلندیوں کی قربان گاہیں تباہ ہو جائیں گی جہاں اسحاق کی اولاد اپنی قربانیاں پیش کرتی ہے۔ اسرائیل کے مقدِس خاک میں ملائے جائیں گے، اور مَیں اپنی تلوار کو پکڑ کر یرُبعام کے خاندان پر ٹوٹ پڑوں گا۔“

Then Amaziah the priest of Beth–el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

یہ سن کر بیت ایل کے امام اَمصیاہ نے اسرائیل کے بادشاہ یرُبعام کو اطلاع دی، ”عاموس اسرائیل کے درمیان ہی آپ کے خلاف سازشیں کر رہا ہے! ملک اُس کے پیغام برداشت نہیں کر سکتا،

For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.

کیونکہ وہ کہتا ہے، ’یرُبعام تلوار کی زد میں آ کر مر جائے گا، اور اسرائیلی قوم یقیناً قیدی بن کر جلاوطن ہو جائے گی‘۔“

Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:

اَمصیاہ نے عاموس سے کہا، ”اے رویا دیکھنے والے، یہاں سے نکل جا! ملکِ یہوداہ میں بھاگ کر وہیں روزی کما، وہیں نبوّت کر۔

But prophesy not again any more at Beth–el: for it is the king's chapel, and it is the king's court.

آئندہ بیت ایل میں نبوّت مت کرنا، کیونکہ یہ بادشاہ کا مقدِس اور بادشاہی کی مرکزی عبادت گاہ ہے۔“

Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:

عاموس نے جواب دیا، ”پیشہ کے لحاظ سے نہ مَیں نبی ہوں، نہ کسی نبی کا شاگرد بلکہ گلہ بان اور انجیرتوت کا باغ بان۔

And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

توبھی رب نے مجھے بھیڑبکریوں کی گلہ بانی کرنے سے ہٹا کر حکم دیا کہ میری قوم اسرائیل کے پاس جا اور نبوّت کر کے اُسے میرا کلام پیش کر۔

Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.

اب رب کا کلام سن! تُو کہتا ہے، ’اسرائیل کے خلاف نبوّت مت کرنا، اسحاق کی قوم کے خلاف بات مت کرنا۔‘

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.

جواب میں رب فرماتا ہے، ’تیری بیوی شہر میں کسبی بنے گی، تیرے بیٹے بیٹیاں سب تلوار سے قتل ہو جائیں گے، تیری زمین ناپ کر دوسروں میں تقسیم کی جائے گی، اور تُو خود ایک ناپاک ملک میں وفات پائے گا۔ یقیناً اسرائیلی قوم قیدی بن کر جلاوطن ہو جائے گی‘۔“
