Amos 2

2:1

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:

رب فرماتا ہے، ”موآب کے باشندوں نے بار بار گناہ کیا ہے، اِس لئے مَیں اُنہیں سزا دیئے بغیر نہیں چھوڑوں گا۔ کیونکہ اُنہوں نے ادوم کے بادشاہ کی ہڈیوں کو جلا کر راکھ کر دیا ہے۔

2:2

But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:

چنانچہ مَیں ملک موآب پر آگ نازل کروں گا، اور قریوت کے محل نذرِ آتش ہو جائیں گے۔ جنگ کا شور شرابہ مچے گا، فوجیوں کے نعرے بلند ہو جائیں گے، نرسنگا پھونکا جائے گا۔ تب موآب ہلاک ہو جائے گا۔

2:3

And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.

مَیں اُس کے حکمران کو اُس کے تمام افسروں سمیت ہلاک کر دوں گا۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔

2:4

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:

رب فرماتا ہے، ”یہوداہ کے باشندوں نے بار بار گناہ کیا ہے، اِس لئے مَیں اُنہیں سزا دیئے بغیر نہیں چھوڑوں گا۔ کیونکہ اُنہوں نے رب کی شریعت کو رد کر کے اُس کے احکام پر عمل نہیں کیا۔ اُن کے جھوٹے دیوتا اُنہیں غلط راہ پر لے گئے ہیں، وہ دیوتا جن کی پیروی اُن کے باپ دادا بھی کرتے رہے۔

2:5

But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

چنانچہ مَیں یہوداہ پر آگ نازل کروں گا، اور یروشلم کے محل نذرِ آتش ہو جائیں گے۔“

2:6

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اسرائیل کے باشندوں نے بار بار گناہ کیا ہے، اِس لئے مَیں اُنہیں سزا دیئے بغیر نہیں چھوڑوں گا۔ کیونکہ وہ شریف لوگوں کو پیسے کے لئے بیچتے اور ضرورت مندوں کو فروخت کرتے ہیں تاکہ ایک جوڑی جوتے مل جائے۔

2:7

That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:

وہ غریبوں کے سر کو زمین پر کچل دیتے، مصیبت زدوں کو انصاف ملنے سے روکتے ہیں۔ باپ اور بیٹا دونوں ایک ہی کسبی کے پاس جا کر میرے نام کی بےحرمتی کرتے ہیں۔

2:8

And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

جب کبھی کسی قربان گاہ کے پاس پوجا کرنے جاتے ہیں تو ایسے کپڑوں پر آرام کرتے ہیں جو قرض داروں نے ضمانت کے طور پر دیئے تھے۔ جب کبھی اپنے دیوتا کے مندر میں جاتے تو ایسے پیسوں سے مَے خرید کر پیتے ہیں جو جرمانہ کے طور پر ضرورت مندوں سے مل گئے تھے۔

2:9

Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

یہ کیسی بات ہے؟ مَیں ہی نے اموریوں کو اُن کے آگے آگے نیست کر دیا تھا، حالانکہ وہ دیودار کے درختوں جیسے لمبے اور بلوط کے درختوں جیسے طاقت ور تھے۔ مَیں ہی نے اموریوں کو جڑوں اور پھل سمیت مٹا دیا تھا۔
