Amos 3

Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

اے اسرائیلیو، وہ کلام سنو جو رب تمہارے خلاف فرماتا ہے، اُس پوری قوم کے خلاف جسے مَیں مصر سے نکال لایا تھا۔

You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

”دنیا کی تمام قوموں میں سے مَیں نے صرف تم ہی کو جان لیا، اِس لئے مَیں تم ہی کو تمہارے تمام گناہوں کی سزا دوں گا۔“

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

کیا دو افراد مل کر سفر کر سکتے ہیں اگر وہ متفق نہ ہوں؟

Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?

کیا شیرببر دہاڑتا ہے اگر اُسے شکار نہ ملا ہو؟ کیا جوان شیر اپنی ماند میں گرجتا ہے اگر اُس نے کچھ پکڑا نہ ہو؟

Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?

کیا پرندہ پھندے میں پھنس جاتا ہے اگر پھندے کو لگایا نہ گیا ہو؟ یا پھندا کچھ پھنسا سکتا ہے اگر شکار نہ ہو؟

Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?

جب شہر میں نرسنگا پھونکا جاتا ہے تاکہ لوگوں کو کسی خطرے سے آگاہ کرے تو کیا وہ نہیں گھبراتے؟ جب آفت شہر پر آتی ہے تو کیا رب کی طرف سے نہیں ہوتی؟

Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

یقیناً جو بھی منصوبہ رب قادرِ مطلق باندھے اُس پر عمل کرنے سے پہلے وہ اُسے اپنے خادموں یعنی نبیوں پر ظاہر کرتا ہے۔

The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?

شیرببر دہاڑ اُٹھا ہے تو کون ہے جو ڈر نہ جائے؟ رب قادرِ مطلق بول اُٹھا ہے تو کون ہے جو نبوّت نہ کرے؟

Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.

اشدود اور مصر کے محلوں کو اطلاع دو، ”سامریہ کے پہاڑوں پر جمع ہو کر اُس پر نظر ڈالو جو کچھ شہر میں ہو رہا ہے۔ کتنی بڑی ہل چل مچ گئی ہے، کتنا ظلم ہو رہا ہے۔“

For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”یہ لوگ صحیح کام کرنا جانتے ہی نہیں بلکہ ظالم اور تباہ کن طریقوں سے اپنے محلوں میں خزانے جمع کرتے ہیں۔“

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

چنانچہ رب قادرِ مطلق فرماتا ہے، ”دشمن ملک کو گھیر کر تیری قلعہ بندیوں کو ڈھا دے گا اور تیرے محلوں کو لُوٹ لے گا۔“

Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.

رب فرماتا ہے، ”اگر چرواہا اپنی بھیڑ کو شیرببر کے منہ سے نکالنے کی کوشش کرے تو شاید دو پنڈلیاں یا کان کا ٹکڑا بچ جائے۔ سامریہ کے اسرائیلی بھی اِسی طرح ہی بچ جائیں گے، خواہ وہ اِس وقت اپنے شاندار صوفوں اور خوب صورت گدیوں پر آرام کیوں نہ کریں۔“

Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,

رب قادرِ مطلق جو آسمانی لشکروں کا خدا ہے فرماتا ہے، ”سنو، یعقوب کے گھرانے کے خلاف گواہی دو!

That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Beth–el: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

جس دن مَیں اسرائیل کو اُس کے گناہوں کی سزا دوں گا اُس دن مَیں بیت ایل کی قربان گاہوں کو مسمار کروں گا۔ تب قربان گاہ کے کونوں پر لگے سینگ ٹوٹ کر زمین پر گر جائیں گے۔

And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.

مَیں سردیوں اور گرمیوں کے موسم کے لئے تعمیر کئے گئے گھروں کو ڈھا دوں گا۔ ہاتھی دانت سے آراستہ عمارتیں خاک میں ملائی جائیں گی، اور جہاں اِس وقت متعدد مکان نظر آتے ہیں وہاں کچھ نہیں رہے گا۔“ یہ رب کا فرمان ہے۔
