II Samuel 8

And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg–ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.

پھر ایسا وقت آیا کہ داؤد نے فلستیوں کو شکست دے کر اُنہیں اپنے تابع کر لیا اور حکومت کی باگ ڈور اُن کے ہاتھوں سے چھین لی۔

And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.

اُس نے موآبیوں پر بھی فتح پائی۔ موآبی قیدیوں کی قطار بنا کر اُس نے اُنہیں زمین پر لٹا دیا۔ پھر رسّی کا ٹکڑا لے کر اُس نے قطار کا ناپ لیا۔ جتنے لوگ رسّی کی لمبائی میں آ گئے وہ ایک گروہ بن گئے۔ یوں داؤد نے لوگوں کو گروہوں میں تقسیم کیا۔ پھر اُس نے گروہوں کے تین حصے بنا کر دو حصوں کے سر قلم کئے اور ایک حصے کو زندہ چھوڑ دیا۔ لیکن جتنے قیدی چھوٹ گئے وہ داؤد کے تابع رہ کر اُسے خراج دیتے رہے۔

David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.

داؤد نے شمالی شام کے شہر ضوباہ کے بادشاہ ہدد عزر بن رحوب کو بھی ہرا دیا جب ہدد عزر دریائے فرات پر دوبارہ قابو پانے کے لئے نکل آیا تھا۔

And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.

داؤد نے 1,700 گھڑسواروں اور 20,000 پیادہ سپاہیوں کو گرفتار کر لیا۔ رتھوں کے 100 گھوڑوں کو اُس نے اپنے لئے محفوظ رکھا، جبکہ باقیوں کی اُس نے کونچیں کاٹ دیں تاکہ وہ آئندہ جنگ کے لئے استعمال نہ ہو سکیں۔

And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

جب دمشق کے اَرامی باشندے ضوباہ کے بادشاہ ہدد عزر کی مدد کرنے آئے تو داؤد نے اُن کے 22,000 افراد ہلاک کر دیئے۔

Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

پھر اُس نے دمشق کے علاقے میں اپنی فوجی چوکیاں قائم کیں۔ اَرامی اُس کے تابع ہو گئے اور اُسے خراج دیتے رہے۔ جہاں بھی داؤد گیا وہاں رب نے اُسے کامیابی بخشی۔

And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

سونے کی جو ڈھالیں ہدد عزر کے افسروں کے پاس تھیں اُنہیں داؤد یروشلم لے گیا۔

And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.

ہدد عزر کے دو شہروں بطاہ اور بیروتی سے اُس نے کثرت کا پیتل چھین لیا۔

When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,

جب حمات کے بادشاہ تُوعی کو اطلاع ملی کہ داؤد نے ہدد عزر کی پوری فوج پر فتح پائی ہے

Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:

تو اُس نے اپنے بیٹے یورام کو داؤد کے پاس بھیجا تاکہ اُسے سلام کہے۔ یورام نے داؤد کو ہدد عزر پر فتح کے لئے مبارک باد دی، کیونکہ ہدد عزر تُوعی کا دشمن تھا، اور اُن کے درمیان جنگ رہی تھی۔ یورام نے داؤد کو سونے، چاندی اور پیتل کے تحفے بھی پیش کئے۔

Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;

داؤد نے یہ چیزیں رب کے لئے مخصوص کر دیں۔ جہاں بھی وہ دوسری قوموں پر غالب آیا وہاں کی سونا چاندی اُس نے رب کے لئے مخصوص کر دی۔

Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

یوں ادوم، موآب، عمون، فلستیہ، عمالیق اور ضوباہ کے بادشاہ ہدد عزر بن رحوب کی سونا چاندی رب کو پیش کی گئی۔

And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.

جب داؤد نے نمک کی وادی میں ادومیوں پر فتح پائی تو اُس کی شہرت مزید پھیل گئی۔ اُس جنگ میں دشمن کے 18,000 افراد ہلاک ہوئے۔

And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

داؤد نے ادوم کے پورے ملک میں اپنی فوجی چوکیاں قائم کیں، اور تمام ادومی داؤد کے تابع ہو گئے۔ داؤد جہاں بھی جاتا رب اُس کی مدد کر کے اُسے فتح بخشتا۔

And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.

جتنی دیر داؤد پورے اسرائیل پر حکومت کرتا رہا اُتنی دیر تک اُس نے دھیان دیا کہ قوم کے ہر ایک شخص کو انصاف مل جائے۔

And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

یوآب بن ضرویاہ فوج پر مقرر تھا۔ یہوسفط بن اخی لُود بادشاہ کا مشیرِ خاص تھا۔

And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;

صدوق بن اخی طوب اور اخی مَلِک بن ابیاتر امام تھے۔ سرایاہ میرمنشی تھا۔

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.

بِنایاہ بن یہویدع داؤد کے خاص دستے بنام کریتی و فلیتی کا کپتان تھا۔ داؤد کے بیٹے امام تھے۔
